Single-Side Polypyrrole Coated Conductive And Flexible Polyurethane Films, Meli̇s Bi̇lal, Esma Sezer, Belkis Ustamehmetoglu

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

In this study, single-side polypyrrole (PPy) coated conductive stretchable polyurethane (PU) / PPy composite films were synthesized by chemical oxidative method in the acetonitrile (ACN)/H2O interface as a new alternative to two-side coated PU films which have already reported in the literature. One surface of the PU film was contacted with aqueous Py solution and the other surface with cerium ammonium nitrate (CAN) solution in ACN, so that only one surface of the film was coated with PPy and the resulting composite was named PU/PPy (PUP). This composite was characterized by four-point probe conductivity measurement, Fouriertransform infrared spectroscopy …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The thin-layer chromatography technique (TLC) is a simple and inexpensive analysis commonly used to identify qualitatively the presence of carbohydrates in food samples such as mono- di and oligosaccharides particularly. TLC assay could be improved using image processing software for the semiquantitative determination of this type of compound. In the present work, TLC-image analysis with Silica Gel 60 TLC plates was used for the semiquantitative determination of 6 standards of carbohydrates (glucose, fructose, sucrose, 1-kestose, nystose, and fructofuranosylnystose). Subsequently, the areas of the spots of each compound were determined by digitizing in a conventional office scanner. Then, the segmentation of …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

In most cases, herbal supplements found in illegal centers and herbal medicine stores have harmful content that causes irreparable damage to people. As a representative of the green chemistry method, a rapid and efficient dispersive micro solid-phase extraction (D-mSPE) method was applied to extract dexamethasone adulterant from handmade supplements sold as power natural enhancing materials. The quantification of the analyte was performed by high performance liquid chromatography with an ultraviolet detector. Effective parameters on the extraction recovery, including the type and amount of adsorbent, the kind of elution solvent, and the time of extraction and elution, were systematically investigated. The …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Infectious illnesses are on the rise in today's world, with serious consequences for animals, plants, and humans. Several infections, including the human immunodeficiency virus, affect a large number of individuals in various countries, particularly in the poorer portions of contemporary society, and continue to cause a variety of health problems. Viruses are tiny parasitic organisms. They are infectious agents that can only reproduce within a live cell of an organism. Viruses may infect any living organism. For clinical pointof- care applications, early detections for harmful agents such as bacteria, viruses are critical. The possibility of worldwide epidemics as a result …

Mechanical And Wetting Properties Of Coated Paper Sheets With Varying Polydimethylsiloxane Molecular Masses In The Coating Formulation, Çağla Söz

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Coated paper sheets were prepared by immobilizing a thin coating layer of cross-linked polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and inorganic particles onto Whatman filter paper Grade 1 (WFP) substrates. Several coatings that differed in terms of their PDMS molecular masses were sprayed onto WFP substrates to investigate the effect of this variation on the (i) wettability and (ii) mechanical properties of the samples. Hybrid nanostructures decorated with glycopolymers are appropriate for biomedical applications. In this paper, the results are obtained from nanographene (NG) decorated with glycoblock copolymer to increase their potential in use in therapies and in examining lectin interactions. A pyren-1-ylmethyl 4-cyano-4-((phenylcarbonothioyl)thio)pentanoate (CPADB-py) chain transfer agent was used in the synthesis of methyl methacrylate glycoblock copolymers (P2 and P3) by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization to adhere the polymer to the nanographene surface. Hybrid nanographenes (NG-1 and NG-2) were obtained by the non-covalent interaction of deprotected P2 and P3 with different fructopyranose groups (3-O-methacryloyl-1,2:4,5- di-O-isopropylidene-β-D-fructopyranose and 1-O-methacryloyl-2,3:4,5-di-O-isopropylidene-β-D-fructopyranose) in their backbones. Microwave-Assisted Rapid Conjugation Of Horseradish Peroxidase-Dextran Aldehyde With Schiff Base Reaction And Decolorization Of Reactive Blue 19, Mi̇that Çelebi̇, Zafer Ömer Özdemi̇r, Murat Topuzoğullari

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Microwave irradiation has become a routine technique in homogeneous and effective heating in organic synthesis. However, its application in enzyme-containing reactions is limited since it can cause denaturation of the enzyme. In this study, we have briefly investigated the effect of microwave heating on the conjugation reaction of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) with aldehyde derivative of dextran (D-CHO). The reaction was irradiated by microwave at 50 °C for 5 min. The conjugate was confirmed via GPC, in which the conjugates of HRP and D-CHO coexist with free unbound HRP molecules. Activity studies of HRP revealed that there is a small decrease …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Glycosylation is an essential posttranslational modification observed in the living proteome. Glycosylation profiles in glycoproteins can change in commonly observed diseases such as cancer. Identifying these changes is crucial in discovering new biomarkers for the early diagnosis of cancer.
