Design Of Fuzzy Logic Controllers For Optimal Performance, Mohamed Trabia
Design Of Fuzzy Logic Controllers For Optimal Performance, Mohamed Trabia
Mechanical Engineering Faculty Presentations
While fuzzy logic controllers are generally robust, the performance of a system whose behavior is not well understood, or that has a large number of coupled inputs and outputs, may be less than optimal. In this paper, nonlinear programming techniques are used to improve the performance of a fuzzy logic controller for navigating an autonomous vehicle.
A Mathematical Model And Simulation Of Natural Circulation Loop Thermalhydraulics, Nihad E. Daidzic
A Mathematical Model And Simulation Of Natural Circulation Loop Thermalhydraulics, Nihad E. Daidzic
Aviation Department Publications
In this work, a simple, nonlinear, seventh-order mathematical model with lumped parameter analysis of the thermalhydraulic processes in a natural circulation steam boiler loop is presented. Digital simulation has been performed in order to predict open loop transients in severe accidental situations. Parts of the circulation loop such as the steam drum, downcomer, and riser were modelled separately on the basis of the integral balance equations. The two-phase flow in the steam drum and in the riser was modelled with the aid of a homogeneous-equilibrium, two-phase flow model. Special care was taken to ensure the stability of the numerical scheme, …

Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Theses & Dissertations
A noncircular pulley has been applied to improve the system efficiency of an electrical-powered elbow prosthesis. The dynamics of the motor and the prosthetic arm have been incorporated into the kinematic synthesis relationships for determining the pulley profile that maximizes the efficiency of the elbow prosthesis.
The nonlinear dynamic equations have been solved by the code Differential Equation (DE) while determining the motor power and efficiency which are the criteria in the nonlinear programming problem. The optimal design variables for determining the pulley profile along with some simulation results have been obtained from an optimization program (based on the Generalized …
