Solutions To A Nonlinear Drift-Diffusion Model Of Semiconductors, Weifu Fang, Kazufumi Ito

A nonlinear drift-diffusion model for semiconductors is analyzed to show the existence of non-vacuum global solutions and stationary solutions. The long time behavior of the solutions is studied by establishing the existence of an absorbing set and a compact attractor of the dynamical system. Parallel results on vacuum solutions are also obtained under weaker conditions on model parameters.

This paper examines the distribution of integer peaks amoung Golay cosets in Ζ4. It will prove that the envelope power of at least one element of every Golay coset of Ζ4 of length 2m (for m-even) will have a maximum at exactly 2m+1. Similarly it will be proven that one element of every Golay coset of Ζ4 of length 2m (for m-odd) will have a maximum at exactly 2m+1. We show that the re are no non-trivial closable derivations of a C*-algebra anticommuting with an ergodic action of a compact group, supposing that the set of squares is dense in the group. We also show that the re are no non-trivial closable densely defined rank one derivations on any C*-algebra.

Our purpose is to study an ergodic linear equation associated to diffusion processes with jumps in the whole space. This integro-differential equation plays a fundamental role in ergodic control problems of second order Markov processes. The key result is to prove the existence and uniqueness of an invariant density function for a jump diffusion, whose lower order coefficients are only Borel measurable. Based on this invariant probability, existence and uniqueness (up to an additive constant) of solutions to the ergodic linear equation are established.

The focus of this research is the assessment of pedagogical interaction as a dimension of the learning environment through the personal representation of a teacher in the student’s personality, and the assessment of the nature and extent to which teachers are involved in changes of interpersonal dimensions of their student’s personality. This was examined by the assessment of the shift in egograms of a teacher’s students, as measured by the Interpersonal Check List (ICL). In vitro fertilization (IVF) can be viewed as high stakes gambling with more than one winning outcome and more than one outcome leading to failure. Knowing the odds of successful outcomes, the odds of outcomes leading to failure, and the various costs is a tremendous asset in any form of gambling. Four important variables have been reported to affect pregnancy rates in IVF programs: age of patient, number of unsuccessful prior attempts, embryo morphology, and number of embryos transferred.

Let n and k be arbitrary positive integers. We will tend to be concerned with small k and with n which are several times k!. I stated two conditions on (n, k) in a previous paper; in this paper I restate them and further explore them. In particular, it is proven that if n is the least number satisfying Condition 1 for a certain k, then the least number for k + l must be at least 2n + l. Some people would argue that mathematics cannot be taught in a Christian way. Others would say it can be done, but that they are unsure how to do it, and therefore do not do it. Some methods mentioned from time to time will be briefly discussed in this address. The question will be asked whether these techniques bring one closer to a Christian perspective on mathematics. My view is that some of these methods are just not sufficient and that more should be done. More attention should be paid to the context in which a mathematical subject is imbedded. Attention …

Although a Christian, an author, and a mathematician, Charles Letwidge Dodgson (better known as Lewis Carroll) wrote very few works in which these three aspects of his person was present. The only examples of him merging these interests are in Sylvie and Bruno and Sylvie and Bruno Concluded. Mathematics, as an academic discipline, has stood for many years as the last bastion against a growing tide of intellectual relativism that has become all but ubiquitous. More recently, however, efforts have been made to "humanize" mathematics by advocating a social-constructivist approach to the philosophy of mathematics, both in practice and education. This paper is intended to serve as a critical response to one advocate of this approach, Reuben Hersh (What Is Mathematics, Really?, 1997), and in the process a defense of Platonism.

Our purpose is to study an optimal ergodic control problem where the state of the system is given by a diffusion process with jumps in the whole space. The corresponding dynamic programming (or Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman) equation is a quasi-linear integro-differential equation of second order. A key result is to prove the existence and uniqueness of an invariant density function for a jump diffusion, whose lower order coefficients are only locally bounded and Borel measurable. Based on this invariant probability, existence and uniqueness (up to an additive constant) of solutions to the ergodic HJB equation is established.

New approaches are developed to update the analytical mass and stiffness matrices of a system. By adding known masses to the structure of interest, measuring the modes of vibration of this mass-modified system, and finally using this set of new data in conjunction with the initial modal survey, the mass matrix of the structure can be corrected. A similar approach can also be used to update the stiffness matrix of the system by attaching known stiffnesses. Manipulating the mass and stiffness correction matrices into vector forms, the connectivity information can be enforced, thereby preserving the physical configuration of the system, …
