On The Boundedness Of Integral Operators, İsmai̇l Eki̇nci̇oğlu, Isroil A. Ikromov
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, we consider integal operators defined by kernel functions. It is well known the boundedness of such kind of operators as Shur Lemma type statements. But, the norm of operators was estimated by two integrals of kernel function. We obtain estimation of operators norm by one integral of kernel function.

Criteria Of Le Page Type In Involutive Banach Algebras, Abdellah El Kinani, Mohamed Oudadess
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The Le Page inequality in Banach algebras is \parallel xy \parallel\leq\alpha\parallel yx\parallel. We consider inequalities where a linear involution appears and has consequences on the involution itself and commutativity results.^1

Cycloidal Normal Subgroups Of Hecke Groups Of Finite Index, İsmai̇l Naci̇ Cangül, Osman Bi̇zi̇m
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Cycloidal normal subgroups, that is, subgroups with only one cusp, of finite index of Hecke groups, which have been introduced by E. Hecke, and can be thought of as some kind of generalisation of the well-known modular group, are studied. It is shown that they correspond to cyclic quotients of Hecke groups and therefore have non-compact associated Riemann surfaces with a cusp. Finally, their total number have been formulated.
Generalized Solutions Of A Class Of Linear And Quasi-Linear Degenerated Hyperbolic Equations, Rossitza Semerdjieva
Generalized Solutions Of A Class Of Linear And Quasi-Linear Degenerated Hyperbolic Equations, Rossitza Semerdjieva
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The equation $L(u):=k(y)u_{xx}-\partial_y(\ell(y)u_y)+r(x,y)u=f(x,y,u),$ where $k(y)>0, \ell(y)>0$ for $y>0,k(0)=\ell(0)=0$ and $lim_{y\rightarrow 0}k(y)/\ell(y)$ exists, is strictly hyperbolic for $y>0$ and its order degenerates on the line $y=0$. We consider the boundary value problem $Lu=f(x,y,u)$ in $G, u\mid_{AC}=0$, where $G$ is a simply connected domain in $R^2$ with piecewise smooth boundary $\partial G=AB\cup AC\cup BC; AB=\{(x,0): 0\leq x\leq 1\}, AC : x=F(y) =\int_0^y(k(t)/\ell (t))^{1/2}dt$ and $BC: x=1-F(y)$ are characteristic curves. The existence and uniqueness of a generalized solution to this problem are proved in the linear case (where $f=f(x,y));$ the nonlinear case is treated by using the Schauder Fixed …

Alternative Polynomial And Holomorphic Dunford-Pettis Properties, Walden Freedman
Alternative Polynomial And Holomorphic Dunford-Pettis Properties, Walden Freedman
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Alternatives to the Polynomial Dunford-Pettis property and the Holomorphic Dunford-Pettis property, called the PDP1 and HDP1 properties, respectively, are introduced. These are shown to be equivalent to the DP1 property, an alternative Dunford-Pettis property previously introduced by the author, thus mirroring the equivalence of the three original properties.
A Class Of Banach Algebras Whose Duals Have The Schur Property, H. Mustafayev, A. Ülger
A Class Of Banach Algebras Whose Duals Have The Schur Property, H. Mustafayev, A. Ülger
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Call a commutative Banach algebra $A$ a $\gamma$-algebra if it contains a bounded group $\Gamma$ such that $\overline{aco(\Gamma)}$ contains a multiple of the unit ball of $A$. In this paper, first by exhibiting several concrete examples, we show that the class of $\gamma$-algebras is quite rich. Then, for a $\gamma$-algebra $A$, we prove that $A^{\star}$ has the Schur property iff the Gelfand spectrum $\sum$ of $A$ is scattered iff $A^{\star}=ap(A)$ iff $A^{\star}=\overline{Span(\sum)}$.

Left Adjoint Of Pullback Cat^1 -Groups, Murat Alp
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In [1] we define the pullback Cat^1-groups and showed that the category of pullback Cat^1-groups is equivalent to the category of pullback crossed modules. In this paper we proved that the pullback Cat^1-group has a left adjoint which is the induced Cat^1-group. We also give the left adjoint construction.
Normal Subgroups And Elements Of H^{'}(\Lambda_Q), İsmai̇l Naci̇ Cangül
Normal Subgroups And Elements Of H^{'}(\Lambda_Q), İsmai̇l Naci̇ Cangül
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this study, we consider the normal subgroups of H^{'}(\lambda_q), where H(\lambda_q) denotes the Hecke groups. After recalling some results from [2], particularly on the group structure and on the relations with the power subgroups of H(\lambda_q), the even subgroup H_e(\lambda_q) of H(\lambda_q) is discussed. It is shown that H^{'}(\lambda_q) is a normal subgroup of H_e(\lambda_q) with index q. For this reason each subgroup of H^{'}(\lambda_q) consists of only even elements. H^{''}(\lambda_q) is also considered and it is concluded that it is the normal subgroup of H^{'}(\lambda_q) generated by all commutators of the elements of H^{'}(\lambda_q). Using the Kurosh subgroup …
A Stone's Representation Theorem And Some Applications, Eissa D. Habil
A Stone's Representation Theorem And Some Applications, Eissa D. Habil
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, we prove the following form of Stone's representation theorem: Let \sum be a \sigma-algebra of subsets of a set X. Then there exists a totally disconnected compact Hausdorff space {\cal K} for which (\sum, \cup, \cap) and ({\cal C}({\cal K}), \cup ,\cap), where {\cal C}({\cal K}) denotes the set of all clopen subsets of {\cal K}, are isomorphic as Boolean algebras. Furthermore, by defining appropriate joins and meets of countable families in {\cal C}({\cal K}), we show that such an isomorphism preserves \sigma-completeness. Then, as a consequence of this result, we obtain the result that if ba(X,\sum) …

Tyurina Components And Rational Cycles For Rational Singularities, Meral Tosun
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, we give a geometric proof of Pinkham's theorem on the positive cycles supported on the exceptional divisor of a rational singularity. In order to do this, we give several properties of the Tyurina components of the exceptional divisor and of the points of blowing-up surface of a rational singularity.

The Weight Equations For Binary Linear Codes, Ersan Akyildiz, İsmai̇l Ş. Güloğlu, Masatoshi Ikeda
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The system of weight equations for a binary $(n, m)$-code with respect to its ordered basis is introduced. It connects certain quantities (characteristics) related to the basis with the weights of non-zero words in the code. It is shown that the portion involving the variables does not depend neither on the code nor on the basis. Explicit forms of the matrix of coefficients in the system and its inverse matrix are computed.

An Efficient Implementation Of The Transportation Problem, Alissa Michele Sustarsic
An Efficient Implementation Of The Transportation Problem, Alissa Michele Sustarsic
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The transportation problem is a special type of linear program in which the objective is to minimize the total cost of shipping a single commodity from a number of sources (m) to a number of destinations or sinks (n).
Because of the special structure of the transportation problem, a special algorithm can be designed to find an optimal solution efficiently. Due to the large amount of information in the problem, judicious storage and management of the data are essential requirements of any viable implementation of the transportation algorithm.
Using sparse matrix techniques to store the solution …
Robust I-Sample Analysis Of Means Type Randomization Tests For Variances, Anthony Joseph Bernard
Robust I-Sample Analysis Of Means Type Randomization Tests For Variances, Anthony Joseph Bernard
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The advent of powerful computers has brought about the randomization technique for testing statistical hypotheses. Randomization tests are based on shuffles or rearrangements of the (combined) sample. Putting each of the I samples "in a bowl" forms the combined sample. Drawing samples "from the bowl" forms a shuffle. Shuffles can be made with or without replacement.
In this thesis, analysis of means type randomization tests will be presented to solve the homogeneity of variance problem. An advantage of these tests is that they allow the user to graphically present the results via a decision chart similar to a Shewhart control …

The objective of this research is to determine the effects over time of a dynamic system that adapts itself to a user's current state of expertise, in terms of the application domain, by constantly monitoring the user throughout use of the system, placing them in appropriate user models when this expertise has changed.
A dynamic system, named ER-by-Design version 2.0, is presented, consisting of an inference component, a help system, a help/assistance screen, and user models. The user models are responsible for adapting the system interface to the level of expertise of the user. The system monitors and analyzes a …
Agriculture, Grazing And Land Changes At The Serra De Tramuntana Karstic Mountains, Ángel Ginés
Agriculture, Grazing And Land Changes At The Serra De Tramuntana Karstic Mountains, Ángel Ginés
International Journal of Speleology
Karst landforms are one of the most outstanding characteristics of the Serra de Tramuntana range on the island of Mallorca, especially regarding traditional farming and the landscape wilderness. Good examples of polje-like depressions, dolines, karstic gorges and karrenfields are widely distributed over the mountain range. Owing to karrenfields occupying a large surface area in the Serra to the exclusion of arable land, the traditional activity based on the repetitive burning of the Ampelodesmos mauritanica brushwoods for cattle-raising promotes hastening deforestation and soil removal.

Impact Of Agricultural Land Use On Some Hungarian Karst Regions, Ilona Bárány-Kevei
International Journal of Speleology
The karst regions are found in the medium altitude mountains of Hungary. Their land use types are natural and sustainable forestry, grazing and vineyards. In international comparison, Hungary belongs to those countries of Europe where arable land is abundant, therefore, in the future its extension has to be reduced. That means agricultural activity has to be restricted on the sensitive karst surfaces. This paper presents ways of sustainable forestry and other land use types for three karst regions of Hungary.
Environmental Vulnerability And Agriculture In The Karstic Domain: Landscape Indicators And Cases In The Atlas Highlands, Morocco, Brahim Akdim, Mohammed Amyay
Environmental Vulnerability And Agriculture In The Karstic Domain: Landscape Indicators And Cases In The Atlas Highlands, Morocco, Brahim Akdim, Mohammed Amyay
International Journal of Speleology
After the brief presentation of the major karstic areas in Morocco, the article focused essentially on the Atlas mountains to investigate the impact of the agriculture on the natural systems equilibrium. Socio-economic changes (demographic pressure, escalation of the landscape use, utilisation of new techniques in water harvesting, etc...) have sometimes fathered mechanisms of degradation. Many indicators seem to reflect these mechanisms. The pedologic indicators, soil erosion, the hydrologic and geomorphic indicators, are apprehended to demonstrate existent correlation between different variables and the often negative impacts of land over-use in the karstic domain of the Middle Atlas.

Land Use In The Tropical Karst - The Case Of Peruaçu, Januária And Jaiba; Se Brazil, Heinz Charles Kohler, Sergio Dos Anjos Ferreira Pinto, João Francisco De Abreu
International Journal of Speleology
The karstic regions of the municipalities of Peruaçu, Januária and Jaiba present a variety of soil uses which are a function of the organization of the karstic relief. This relief system forms a rift, which received fluvial sediments deposition from the São Francisco River. The horst of the Peruaçu plateau is developed on limestone rocks of Late Proterozoic age with a high concentration of calcium carbonate. The South American Surface was formed on this and is today occupied by cattle ranching. In the graben, due to easy irrigation from underground karst waters and because of the nearby drainage system of …
(Ω, Ξ)-Logic: On The Algebraic Extension Of Coalgebraic Specifications, Rolf Hennicker, Alexander Kurz
(Ω, Ξ)-Logic: On The Algebraic Extension Of Coalgebraic Specifications, Rolf Hennicker, Alexander Kurz
Engineering Faculty Articles and Research
We present an extension of standard coalgebraic specification techniques for statebased systems which allows us to integrate constants and n-ary operations in a smooth way and, moreover, leads to a simplification of the coalgebraic structure of the models of a specification. The framework of (Ω,Ξ)-logic can be considered as the result of a translation of concepts of observational logic (cf. [9]) into the coalgebraic world. As a particular outcome we obtain the notion of an (Ω, Ξ)- structure and a sound and complete proof system for (first-order) observational properties of specifications.

Rapid Single- And Multiple-Scattering Exafs Debye-Waller Factor Calculations On Active Sites Of Metalloproteins, Nicholas Dimakis, M-Ali Al-Akhras, Grant Bunker
Physics & Astronomy Faculty Publications
This paper describes recent results using our approach to calculating self-consistently single (SS) and multiple-scattering (MS) Debye- Waller factors (DWF) on active sites of metalloproteins. The calculation of MS DWF, together with the Feff7 program allows us to simulate ab-initio EXAFS spectra for a given temperature systems with no adjustable parameters. In our latest report (Dimakis N., and Bunker G., 1998) we calculate, using density functional and semiempirical approaches, the SS and MS DWF for small molecules and compared them to Raman, infrared and EXAFS spectra. In this report calculation of DWFs is done for tetrahedral Zn imidazole, a complex …
