Univalent Harmonic Mappings Onto Half Planes, Meti̇n Öztürk
Univalent Harmonic Mappings Onto Half Planes, Meti̇n Öztürk
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We consider the class S_H(D,\Omega ) of complex functions f which are univalent, harmonic, sense preserving on a simple connected domain D\neq {\Bbb C} \ containing the origin, satisfy f(0)=a_0, f_{\bar z}(0)=0a,\ a\in {\Bbb R}\}. In particularly, we describe the closure \overline{S_H(D,\Omega )} of S_H(D,\Omega ) and characterize its extreme points, as well as sharp estimates for coefficients and distortion theorems.

Segal Algebra As An Ideal In Its Second Dual Space, Heybet S. Mustafayev
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
For a locally compact group G, let S(G) be a symmetric Segal algebra. We prove that S(G) is an ideal in its second dual space if and only if G is compact, where the second dual is equipped with an Arens multiplication.
Some Results On Space-Like Line Congruences And Their Space-Like Parameter Ruled Surface, E. Özyilmaz
Some Results On Space-Like Line Congruences And Their Space-Like Parameter Ruled Surface, E. Özyilmaz
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Using dual vectors, space-like ruled surfaces was introduced in [2]. In this paper, we define space-like line congruence and their space-like parameter ruled surfaces {\mathbf R_{11}(t)} and {\mathbf R_{21}(t)} of R_1^3. Then, by choosing space-like parameter ruled surfaces as space-like principle ruled surfaces, we obtain some relations among the magnitudes of space-like ruled surfaces {\mathbf R_1(t)}, {\mathbf R_{11}(t)}.

Augmented Noetherian Graded Modules, Mashhoor Refai̇
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Let $G$ be a multiplicative group with identity $e$, and let $R$ be an associative $G$-graded ring with unity 1. In this paper we study the augmented graded Noetherian modules and try to give some relationships between the Noetherian modules in the category $R-Agr$ and the Noetherian modules in the category $R_e-gr$.
The Isometries Of The Bochner Space L^P(\Mu,H), Bahatti̇n Cengi̇z
The Isometries Of The Bochner Space L^P(\Mu,H), Bahatti̇n Cengi̇z
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this article, the known characterization of the surjective linear isometries of the Bochner space $L^p(\mu, H)$, for a $\sigma$-finite measure $\mu$ and an arbitrary Hilbert space $H$, in terms of regular set isomorphisms of the $\sigma$-algebra involved and strongly measurable families of surjective isometries of $H$, is extended to arbitrary measures.
Modular Symmetry Classes Of Tensors, M. Shahryari, M. A. Shahabi
Modular Symmetry Classes Of Tensors, M. Shahryari, M. A. Shahabi
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We introduce the notion of modular symmetry classes of tensors and give a necessary and sufficient condition for a modular symmetry class of tensors associated with the full symmetric group to be non-zero. Then we use modular symmetry classes of tensors to study the polynomial representations of $GL(V)$, where $V$ is a vector space over a field of characterisitic $p$. At the end we introduce a non-degenerate bilinear form on a modular symmetry class. Some problems are also given.

On The Artin Conductor F_{Artin}(\Chi) Of A Character \Chi Of Gal (E/K) I: Basic Definitions, Kazim İlhan İkeda
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Let $K$ be a local field with finite residue class field and $E$ a finite Galois extension over $K$. In this paper, we study the Artin conductor $\frak f_{\rm Artin}(\chi_\rho)$ of a character $\chi_\rho$ associated to a representation $\rho:\mbox{Gal}(E/K)\rightarrow GL(V)$ of $\mbox{Gal}(E/K)$ with metabelian kernel $\mbox{ker}(\rho)$. In order to do so, we first review the Artin character $a_{\mbox{Gal}(E/K)}$ of $\mbox{Gal}(E/K)$ and review the metabelian local class field theory. We finally propose the definition of the conductor $\frak f(E/K)$ of a metabelian extension $E/K$ in the sense of Koch-de Shalit local class field theory, and compute $\frak f_{\rm Artin}(\chi_\rho)$ under a …

The Role Of Electrolytically Co-Deposited Platinum-Palladium Electrodes On The Electrooxidation Of D. Glucose In Alkaline Medium: A Synergistic Effect, İpek Beceri̇k
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
The electrooxidation of D. glucose was investigated on platinum-palladium alloy electrodes of different compositions in alkaline aqueous solutions. The surface characteristics of the alloys in contact with electrolytic solution were studied using cyclic voltammetry. In particular, a surface enrichment in platinum due to a preferential dissolution of palladium was shown. Enhanced electrocatalytic activity at about 37 at. % in Pd was obtained when compared to pure metals, thus leading to a synergistic effect. The electrocatalytic activity of different alloys for D. glucose oxidation has been chacterized by exchange current densities obtained from extrapolation of Tafel lines to calculated equilibrium potential. …

Electrooxidation Of Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonate (Las) On Pt Electrodes, Bi̇rgül Yazici, Si̇bel Zor
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
The electrochemical behaviour of linear alklybenzene sulfonate (LAS) on Pt electrodes was investigated in 0.05M Na_2SO_4 and in 0.1M NaCl at pH=8 by the potentiokinetic method and by electrolysis. The anodic and cathodic semilogarithmic current-potential curves were obtained between -1.6V - +1.6V. The experimental discharge potentials were determined by means of current-potential-curves obtained by electrolysis between 0-3V. The percentages of surface active material remaining in the solution after specified periods (0-6hrs) were determined for different initial concentrations of LAS (30, 150, 300 ppm) by using a potentiostat at +1.6V and by applying a potential of 20V via a direct current …

Electrochemical Reduction Of Methyl Cinnamate In The Presence Of 1,3-Bis(4-Methyl Phenylsulphonyloxy)Propane, Mustafa Güllü
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Electrochemical reduction of methyl cinnamate in the presence of a dielectrophile, such as 1,3-bis(4-methyl phenylsulphonyloxy)propane gives two major products: trans- (\pm) methyl 2-phenylcyclopentanecarboxylate and trans- (\pm) methyl 2,3-diphenyl-5-oxo-cyclopentanecarboxylate. The ratio of products basically depends on the electrolysis conditions.

Electrochemical Characterization Of Al_2 O_3 -Ni Thin Film Selective Surface On Aluminium, Fi̇gen Kadirgan, Ewa Wackelgard, Mete Söhmen
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Solar thermal collectors represent a widely used type of system for the conversion of solar energy. In order to produce selective coatings on aluminium substrates to be used as absorber plates in high efficiency solar collectors, nickel pigmentation was applied to anodically oxidised surfaces. Electrochemical dc methods are used to study the oxidation of aluminium as functions of the following electrolysis conditions: applied current, pH, temperature and concentration of electrolyte. The properties of the oxidised aluminium surfaces are investigated by cyclic voltammetry. Nickel pigmentation of porous aluminium surfaces was also performed as a function of electrochemical pigmentation conditions by ac …
Making Sharing Pervasive: Ubiquitous Computing For Shared Note Taking, James A. Landay, Richard C. Davis
Making Sharing Pervasive: Ubiquitous Computing For Shared Note Taking, James A. Landay, Richard C. Davis
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
As a variety of low-cost note-taking devices becomes pervasive, shared notes can help work groups better communicate ideas and information. To explore this idea further, we carried out three related case studies of how members of a large research group shared meeting notes. The group found value in combining personal notes and presentation slides with a single, unifying document, such as regular meeting minutes. The minutes provided structure when there were too many sources of notes. We used this insight in our design of NotePals, a note-sharing system with a lightweight process, an interface, and hardware that distinguish it from …
Training Methods For Shunting Inhibitory Artificial Neural Networks, Son Lam Phung
Training Methods For Shunting Inhibitory Artificial Neural Networks, Son Lam Phung
Theses : Honours
This project investigates a new class of high-order neural networks called shunting inhibitory artificial neural networks (SIANN's) and their training methods. SIANN's are biologically inspired neural networks whose dynamics are governed by a set of coupled nonlinear differential equations. The interactions among neurons are mediated via a nonlinear mechanism called shunting inhibition, which allows the neurons to operate as adaptive nonlinear filters. The project's main objective is to devise training methods, based on error backpropagation type of algorithms, which would allow SIANNs to be trained to perform feature extraction for classification and nonlinear regression tasks. The training algorithms developed will …
Software Quality Function Deployment : A Method For Building Better Software, Dean Carruthers
Software Quality Function Deployment : A Method For Building Better Software, Dean Carruthers
Theses : Honours
In recent years it is becoming increasingly more apparent that quality even more than productivity is emerging as the key issue in the development of software. The quality systems currently employed by most software companies however arc simply not up to the task, traditional quality systems focus upon conformance to company standards, automation to eliminate human error and in some cases quality improvement teams. These traditional quality assurance methods lead to quality as defined from the organizations point of view, all work performed is done to their standards, however a what it is that makes a quality product is defined …

This report details methods to construct a flight data logging system that can be used to manage student flight and aircraft maintenance records. These methods utilise GPS, embedded processors and associated software to depict the occurrence of landings, "Touch and Goes" and record aircraft total flight time. By manipulating these methods it was possible to produce a usable data-logging unit which facilitated the automation of flight maneuver recording. This datatogging unit was constructed from embedded components and interfaced with a user defined database. Perusal of the details within should provide the reader with a clear understanding of the tasks involved …
Managing Mountain Bike Impacts In The South West Of Western Australia : Combining Biophysical Impact Studies With Rider Preferences For Better Trail Design, Ute Goeft
Theses : Honours
This thesis examines the environmental impacts of mountain bikes on trails in the southwest of Western Australia and the preferences, perceptions, trail use and demographics of mountain bike riders in that region. This information is important for resource managers and trail developers to ensure that the trails that are provided and planned for mountain bike use in the region are environmentally appropriate and acceptable to users. The environmental impacts were examined through biophysical studies, which investigated soil loss, soil compaction and vegetation damage on and adjacent to mountain bike trails over a period of six months. A mountain bike racing …
Implementing Flexible Software Techniques In A 4gl Environment, Stephen O'Connor
Implementing Flexible Software Techniques In A 4gl Environment, Stephen O'Connor
Theses : Honours
Today more IT professionals arc employed on the maintenance of existing software applications than are employed to develop new systems. Why is there such a need for this maintenance? Part of the problem is that developers have traditionally seen system requirements as fixed from the time they have been 'signed off. In reality requirements arc dynamic and subject to change as an organisation's environment changes. Flexible software techniques recognise that software requirements are subject to future changes. Flexibility is seen as an important design goal criterion with "true" or "strong" flexibility implying that an application's behaviour can be altered without …

Salinity And Hydrology Of The Fence Road Catchment : A Focus Catchment Of The Blackwood Basin, Ben Whitfield
Resource management technical reports
It is the clearing of native vegetation and replacement with lower water-use annual crops and pastures that is responsible for the developing salinity problem. Traditional farming practices have led to increased recharge to the groundwater systems resulting in increased storage and/or greater areas or rates of discharge. Groundwater monitoring has revealed variable rates of rise throughout the Fence Road catchment, from static to 0.6 metres per year, in a period of average to below average rainfall.
