Identification Of Spontaneous Fission Fragments By Using Thermally Annealed Padc Films, Abdallah F. Saad, Nama Abdelssadk Hamed, Yasin Kailani Abdalla

Turkish Journal of Physics

One of main requirements in applied nuclear physics is the need of a detector capable of detecting and differentiating different particles. Thus, the fission products from a ^{252}Cf radioactive source, after about 12 half-life periods of alpha decay, are registered using virgin and annealed CR-39 polyallyldiglycol carbonate (PADC) films. In the case of virgin CR-39, a single peak appears corresponding to the heavy group of these products, while the other peak related to the light group is obscured. The annealed CR-39 detectors, on the other hand, were demonstrated to be highly sensitive to the fission fragments, and as a result …

Effects Of The Different Types Of Nuclear Radiations On The Optically Stimulated Luminescence, Ayşe Güneş Tanir, Mustafa Hi̇cabi̇ Bölükdemi̇r, Tülay Neşe Kizilirmak Jan 2013

Effects Of The Different Types Of Nuclear Radiations On The Optically Stimulated Luminescence, Ayşe Güneş Tanir, Mustafa Hi̇cabi̇ Bölükdemi̇r, Tülay Neşe Kizilirmak

Turkish Journal of Physics

This study aims to investigate the effects of different nuclear radiation fields on an optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dosimeter using Al_2O_3:C material. The Al_2O_3:C material was exposed to alpha- and beta-particles and gamma-photons, and the luminescence signals were measured by stimulation with a blue light emitting diode. It is concluded that the OSL technique is suitable for obtaining an adequate blue light stimulated luminescence signal in alpha, beta, and gamma radiation fields, and if the source activity was low, the statistical distributions were large.

Magnetic Wiggler-Assisted Third-Harmonic Generation Of A Gaussian Laser Pulse In Plasma, Hirdesh Sharma, Harsha Jaloree, Jetendra Parashar Jan 2013

Magnetic Wiggler-Assisted Third-Harmonic Generation Of A Gaussian Laser Pulse In Plasma, Hirdesh Sharma, Harsha Jaloree, Jetendra Parashar

Turkish Journal of Physics

A Gaussian laser pulse propagating through plasma in the presence of a magnetic wiggler produces third-harmonic radiation. The wiggler's magnetic field provides additional momentum required for phase matching. The required wiggler wave number is sensitive to pulse duration and amplitude. The efficiency of the process is significant at the instant at which the phase matching condition is satisfied.

Exact Solution Of Frw Perfect Fluid Model Interacting With Zero-Rest-Mass Scalar Field And Electromagnetic Field In B-D Theory, Kangujam Priyokumar Singh, Chungkham Gokulchandra Singh

Turkish Journal of Physics

Considering a spherically symmetric nonstatic cosmological flat model of the Robertson-Walker universe, the problem of perfect fluid distribution interacting with the gravitational field in the presence of a zero-rest-mass scalar field and electromagnetic field in Brans-Dicke (B-D) theory has been investigated. Exact solutions are obtained by using a general approach of solving the partial differential equations and it has been observed that the electromagnetic field cannot survive the cosmological flat model due to the action caused by the presence of the zero-rest-mass scalar field, and the isotropic pressure p turns out to be negative. The pressure and density are found …

The thermodynamic properties of a relativistic spin-zero system are investigated via the Klein-Gordon equation under the Cornell and generalized Morse potentials. In particular, the partition function and mean and free energies are calculated and their behavior versus variations of the potential coefficients is presented.

Theoretical Modeling And Numerical Solutions Of Some Standard Thermoluminescence Detector Crystals, Erdem Uzun Jan 2013

Theoretical Modeling And Numerical Solutions Of Some Standard Thermoluminescence Detector Crystals, Erdem Uzun

Turkish Journal of Physics

MCP-100, MYS-N, MTS-7, MTS-100, and MCP-N standard thermoluminescence detector materials are annealed and irradiated. Glow curves and all trap parameters are determined. For these materials new theoretical energy band models are suggested and differential equations governing the charge carrier traffics are derived. The equations are solved by using computer-based numerical methods. During the simulations, experimental data measured in the previous step are given to computer code as the initial conditions. Experimental and numerical results show that the electron-band structures of standard thermoluminescence crystals are represented fairly well by the suggested models.

Defect Studies In Strain-Relaxed Si_{1-X}Ge_X Alloys, Şeref Kalem Jan 2013

Defect Studies In Strain-Relaxed Si_{1-X}Ge_X Alloys, Şeref Kalem

Turkish Journal of Physics

Raman light scattering, low-temperature photoluminescence, light-scattering tomography, and hydrogenation were used to investigate optical properties of defects in strain-relaxed Si_{1-x}Ge_x (0.05 \le x \le 0.50) alloys. The photoluminescence emission was characterized by typical zero-phonon, phonon-assisted, and dislocations-related emissions, which are dependent on Ge composition x. However, luminescence spectra exhibited above band-gap features, which are likely associated with the presence of Si-rich regions in the alloys. The results are correlated with light-scattering tomography, revealing the presence of dislocations and Si precipitates. The excess peak at 519 cm^{-1} in Ge-rich samples is supportive of this observation. At low Ge content, a dislocation-related …

Symmetry And The Order Of Events In Time: Description Of A Reversible Thermal Energy Converter Composed Of Negative Mass, Randy Wayne Jan 2013

Symmetry And The Order Of Events In Time: Description Of A Reversible Thermal Energy Converter Composed Of Negative Mass, Randy Wayne

Turkish Journal of Physics

In a previous paper [1], we analyzed the sequence of events that occurs in the time domain of a reversible cyclical thermal energy converter using the Gibbs equation and showed that even when there is no net change of entropy there is an asymmetrical order of quasi-static states along the time axis, when thermal energy is converted into mechanical pressure-volume work. The spontaneous evolution towards an equilibrium state, which is characterized by the unidirectional transport of entropy from the hot reservoir to the cold reservoir, is coincident with this asymmetrical order of events. In this paper, we \"mend\" the above …

Thermodynamic Properties Of The Noncommutative Black Hole In (Z = 3)-Horava-Lifshitz Gravity, Mourad Nach, Khadija Bilal, My Brahim Sedra, Abderrahman El Boukili

Turkish Journal of Physics

In this work, we investigate the effects of noncommutative spaces on the Horava-Lifshitz black hole. We construct the black hole solutions in the noncommutative space of (z = 3)-Horava-Lifshitz gravity. We calculate the horizon and the thermodynamic properties such as the Hawking temperature, the ADM-Mass, and entropy, which reduce to their commutative limits when the noncommutativity parameter tends to zero.

One Proton Emission With Structural Effects In Medium Mass Nuclei, Chandrasekaran Anu Radha, Velayudham Ramasubramanian Jan 2013

One Proton Emission With Structural Effects In Medium Mass Nuclei, Chandrasekaran Anu Radha, Velayudham Ramasubramanian

Turkish Journal of Physics

In this work proton emission from deformed nuclei is discussed with the quadrupole deformation values. The deformation is investigated using potential energy surface plots. The identified proton emitters are found to have odd Z since the unpaired proton is less bound, and they are readily available for emission. Using the exotic decay model to the medium mass nuclei, the new proton emitters are analyzed with the inclusion of centrifugal barrier. The proton decay half-lives are calculated and compared with literature values. A discussion pertaining to single proton emission with structural effect will be a pivotal point in our study.

Spin Assignment And Behavior Of Superdeformed Bands In A\\Sim 150 Mass Region, Ali Khalaf, Manal Sirag, Mahmoud Taha

Turkish Journal of Physics

The smoothed experimental dynamical moment of inertia J^{(2)} values were fitted with a theoretical version using the Harris three parameter formula in even powers of angular frequency \omega, derived for results from the cranking model. The expansion parameters were adjusted by using a computer simulated search program. The best expansion parameters from the fit were used to assign the spins of the superdeformed (SD) rotational bands (RB) by integrating the calculated J^{(2)}. The data set includes 23 RB's in 11 SD nuclei, which show no evidence of either irregular behavior near the bottom of the bands or abrupt angular momentum …

Turkish Journal of Physics

We solve the 3-dimensional Schrödinger equation under the Tietz potential by an approximate analytical scheme. A Pekeris-type approximation and the Nikiforov--Uvarov technique are used in the calculations to report the arbitrary-state eigenfunctions and eigenvalues and we calculate some useful expectation values of the Tietz potential using the Hellmann-Feynman theorem and obtain the oscillator strength.

Turkish Journal of Physics

Approximate analytical solutions of Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau (DKP) equation under scalar and vector Kratzer terms are obtained via an elegant ansatz after successive transformations. The results, after application of proper fits, can be used in the study of relativistic spinless particles in various branches of physics such as cosmology and theoretical nuclear physics including meson spectroscopy.

Empirical Rule For The Pair Break Mechanism In Three-Quasiparticle Rotational Bands, Sukhjeet Singh Dhindsa, Sushil Kumar, Jatinder Kumar Sharma Jan 2013

Empirical Rule For The Pair Break Mechanism In Three-Quasiparticle Rotational Bands, Sukhjeet Singh Dhindsa, Sushil Kumar, Jatinder Kumar Sharma

Turkish Journal of Physics

An empirical rule on the basis of odd-even mass difference is suggested for the breaking of a proton pair or a neutron pair in odd-A nuclei to form a lower lying 3-quasiparticle state. If \Delta_p is smaller than \Delta_n, the proton pair breaks; on the other hand, if \Delta_n is smaller than \Delta_p, the neutron pair breaks down and forms a lower lying 3-quasiparticle state in an odd-A nuclide. This rule appears not only purely based on the proton paring/neutron pairing energy balancing condition but also on particular excitation energy, which is \ge 1 MeV in the case of the …

Investigation Of Dominant States In The Collisions Of Ar Vii And Kr Xxiv With H_2 And He Targets, Abdel Aziz Habib, Alaa Abo Zalam, Hassan Ramadan Jan 2013

Investigation Of Dominant States In The Collisions Of Ar Vii And Kr Xxiv With H_2 And He Targets, Abdel Aziz Habib, Alaa Abo Zalam, Hassan Ramadan

Turkish Journal of Physics

In thermal plasma, the ion--atom collisions proceed most probably through resonance processes. One of the important processes is the resonant transfer excitation followed by emission of X-rays (RTEX), which causes self-cooling for plasma. In addition, it is identical to the dielectronic recombination (DR) in electron-ion collisions. The present work deals with the calculation of DR cross-sections (\sigma^{DR}s) and DR rate coefficients (\alpha^{DR}s) as well as RTEX cross-sections (\sigma^{RTEX}s) for Mg-like ions [Ar^{6+} and Kr^{24+}] with L-shell and K-shell excitation for \Deltan = 0 and \Delta n \neq 0. Comparison between the present results and other calculations for the rates are …

Study Of Zone Center Phonons In Wolframite Znwo_4, Ruby Jindal, Murari Mohan Sinha, Hem Chandra Gupta

Turkish Journal of Physics

A short-range force constant model was applied to investigate the phonons in wolframite ZnWO_4 crystals in their monoclinic phase having space group P2/c and symmetry C_{2h}. The normal symmetry coordinates for the monoclinic wolframite were computed. The zone center phonons were calculated by using 8 stretching and 6 bending force constants. The calculated results are in very good agreement with the observed ones. The infrared frequencies were assigned for the first time. The potential energy distribution was also investigated for determining the significance of the contribution from each force constant toward the Raman and infrared wavenumbers.

A Simple Method To Extract The Parameters Of The Single-Diode Model Of A Pv System, Ahmed A. El Tayyan Jan 2013

A Simple Method To Extract The Parameters Of The Single-Diode Model Of A Pv System, Ahmed A. El Tayyan

Turkish Journal of Physics

This article suggests a simple method of modeling and simulation of photovoltaic systems. The main goal is to find the parameters (I_{ph}, I_o, R_s, R_{sh}, and a) of the single-diode model by adjusting the P-V curve and/or I-V curve at parameters provided by the manufacturer specification sheets (I_{sc}, V_{oc}, I_{mp}, and V_{mp}). An empirical model is incorporated into the single-diode model in order to remove its implicit nature and to ease the calculations. Calculations using this method can be extended to generate the I-V curves at temperatures and irradiances other than the standard test condition (STC)

Study Of Solid-State Stability Of The Zoto Binary System, Sandeep A. Waghuley Jan 2013

Study Of Solid-State Stability Of The Zoto Binary System, Sandeep A. Waghuley

Turkish Journal of Physics

The ZOTO binary system contains different compositions of zinc oxide (ZnO) and tin oxide (SnO_2). These are important semiconductors and have been intensively explored for various applications. SnO_2, ZnO, and different mole ratios (70:30, 40:60, 30:70, and 20:80 SnO_2:ZnO) of the ZOTO system were prepared through proper thermal treatment in powder form. The comparative solid-state stability was investigated using thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA). The stability study showed that the SnO_2 material absorbs much lower heat (Ea = -72.06 kJ/g mol) compared with ZnO and their compositions. Thus the SnO_2 material shows stability at near room temperature operation. The …

Turkish Journal of Physics

Molecular dynamic simulation on iron in high-temperature molten lead-bismuth eutectic has been carried out to investigate the iron corrosion and its mitigation. The aim of the work is to investigate the corrosion and evaluate proper oxygen content of injection for significant and effective reduction. To study the phenomena we calculated the diffusion coefficients, radial distribution functions and mean square displacement of iron, and also observed the micro-structure of iron before and after oxygen injection into coolant. The present calculation shows that a significant and effective reduction of corrosion can be achieved by injection of 7.68 \times 10^{-2}-1.55 \times 10^{-1} wt\% …

Improved Hilbert Moment Thermal Qcd Sum Rules For B_S Meson And Stability With Respect To Moment Parameter, Elşen Veli̇, Gülşah Kaya, Arzu Türkan, Eni̇s Yazici

Turkish Journal of Physics

In this paper, we deal with the temperature dependence of the leptonic decay constant and mass of B_s meson in the framework of the Hilbert moment QCD sum rule. In our calculations, we improve the thermal QCD sum rules, taking into account the thermal spectral density and the perturbative 2-loop order corrections to the correlation function. Moreover, we investigate the stability of the results with respect to the Hilbert moment parameter. Our numerical calculations demonstrate that the mass and decay constant are insensitive to the variation of temperature up to T \cong 100 MeV; however, after this value, they start …

The Development Of A Novel Technique To Evaluate The Cr-39 Track Response To Alpha Particles, Khalil Ibrahim Mohammad, Muzahim Ibrahim Azawe Jan 2013

The Development Of A Novel Technique To Evaluate The Cr-39 Track Response To Alpha Particles, Khalil Ibrahim Mohammad, Muzahim Ibrahim Azawe

Turkish Journal of Physics

A novel technique is presented for the assessment of the track response of the detector CR-39 to alpha particles by photothermal deflection spectroscopy and image analysis. The 2 new techniques can be implemented to CR-39 as in situ measurements. The proposed techniques offer the possibility of monitoring nuclear radiation directly. Photothermal deflection is described to detect the change in the thermal and optical properties of the track nuclear detector CR-39 when irradiated to alpha particles. In situ image analysis of the photothermal deflection spot is presented to assess the detection of the CR-39 of any nuclear particle or radiation instantaneously.

Analyses Of Elastically Scattered Charged Pions From Calcium Isotopes And The ^{48}Ca-^{54}Fe Isotone At 180 Mev, Zuhair Fayyad Mahmoud Shehadeh Jan 2013

Analyses Of Elastically Scattered Charged Pions From Calcium Isotopes And The ^{48}Ca-^{54}Fe Isotone At 180 Mev, Zuhair Fayyad Mahmoud Shehadeh

Turkish Journal of Physics

The elastic scattering of 180 MeV positively and negatively charged pions, incident on a set of calcium isotopes and the isotone ^{48}Ca - ^{54}Fe, has been analyzed within the framework of a recently updated simple local optical potential. This potential, particularly at the tail region, has been originally determined from available phase shifts using inverse scattering theory and the Klein--Gordon equation as a guide. The analysis is carried out with and without considering the squared potential term in the Klein-Gordon equation. Coulomb effects are accounted for by implementing Stricker's prescription. The numerical results for the angular distributions with isotopic and …

Structural And Magnetic Characterization Of Bi_{0.9}Ca_{0.1}Fe_{0.98}X_{0.02}O_3 (X = Mg, Al, Ti, V) Polycrystalline Multiferroic Compounds, Mansour Al-Haj Jan 2012

Structural And Magnetic Characterization Of Bi_{0.9}Ca_{0.1}Fe_{0.98}X_{0.02}O_3 (X = Mg, Al, Ti, V) Polycrystalline Multiferroic Compounds, Mansour Al-Haj

Turkish Journal of Physics

The multiferroic compounds Bi_{0.9}Ca_{0.1}Fe_{0.98}X_{0.02}O_3, X = Mg, Al, Ti, V, were prepared by the solid state reaction method and were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometry, and differential scanning calorimetry. The compounds were found to have the rhombohedral perovskite-like structure, accompanied by the existence of small amounts of the usual impurity phases Bi_2Fe_4O_{9} and Bi_{25}FeO_{40}. The appearance of weak ferromagnetism is due to partial destruction of the spiral spin structure due to lattice distortion and suppression of oxygen vacancies. The magnetic transition temperatures of the compounds are 342, 346, 349, and 345 °C, respectively.

Dynamics And Noise Of Fiber-Grating Semiconductor Lasers Affected By The Line-Width Enhancement Factor, Salah Abdulrhmann Jan 2012

Dynamics And Noise Of Fiber-Grating Semiconductor Lasers Affected By The Line-Width Enhancement Factor, Salah Abdulrhmann

Turkish Journal of Physics

This paper numerically investigates the effect of the line-width enhancement factor on the dynamics and the intensity noise of InGaAs/InP lasers pumping in the wavelength of 980 nm at the strong optical feedback limit. The investigation is performed based on an improved time-delay rate equation model of a single-mode laser. The analyses are performed in terms of the temporal trajectory of the laser intensity, bifurcation diagram, relative intensity noise and injection current. The simulation results indicate that the laser, under strong optical feedback, mainly operates in CW, pulsation or chaos operation depending on the line-width enhancement factor and injection current …

Symmetry And The Order Of Events In Time. A Proposed Identity Of Negative Mass With Antimatter, Randy Wayne Jan 2012

Symmetry And The Order Of Events In Time. A Proposed Identity Of Negative Mass With Antimatter, Randy Wayne

Turkish Journal of Physics

In another paper in this series, we developed a symmetrical theory of mass which describes how systems of positive mass and negative mass will respond to an input of thermal energy. A system composed of positive mass or negative mass will respond to an input of thermal energy in opposite ways. For example, if a system composed of positive mass expands in response to radiation from a hot body, a system composed of negative mass will contract. Likewise, if the system composed of positive mass contracts when brought in communication with a cold body, a system composed of negative mass …

Thermodynamics Of Liquid Alkali Metals Using Pseudopotential Perturbation Scheme, Jagendra Kamalsinh Baria, Ashvinkumar Ramaniklal Jani

Turkish Journal of Physics

Recently proposed model potential of Baria and Jani is used with the exchange and correlation effect of Sarkar et al. to calculate internal energy (Enthalpy), Entropy and Helmholtz free energy of liquid Na, K, Rb and Cs at various temperatures with the variational approach. The parameter of the potential is determined with the standard zero pressure condition. The structure factor derived by Percus-Yevick solution for hard sphere fluids which is characterized by hard sphere diameter \sigma is used. A good agreement between theoretical investigations and experimental findings has confirmed the ability of the model potential to the liquid alkali metals.

Te Surface Waves In Dielectric Slab Sandwiched Between Lhm Slabs, Ass'ad I. Ass'ad, Hassan S. Ashour Jan 2012

Te Surface Waves In Dielectric Slab Sandwiched Between Lhm Slabs, Ass'ad I. Ass'ad, Hassan S. Ashour

Turkish Journal of Physics

In this work, the dispersion relation for TE surface waves has been derived for a slab waveguide constructed from a dielectric material slab sandwiched between two thick layers of left-handed material (LHM). The dispersion relation and the power flow were numerically solved for a given set of parameters: the structural factor, dielectric slab thickness, and the operating frequency on the effective refractive index and power flow. We found that the wave effective refractive index decreases with thickness increase as well as increase in frequency. We found that the effective refractive index increases slightly with increase of structural factor. Also, the …
