Search For Mixed-Symmetry State In Even-Even $^{130-138}$Ce Isotopes Within The Interacting Boson Model-2, Ali Mahdi Abdul Hussain, Falih Hussain Al-Khudair, Abdul Ridha Hussain Subber
Turkish Journal of Physics
The energy levels and reduced transition probabilities B(M1) and B(E2) of the even-even $^{130-138}$Ce isotopes were calculated by using the interacting boson model-2. We have analyzed the F-spin values and produced the symmetry labeling of the states. The calculated results were compared with the available experimental data. It was proved that the proton--neutron interacting boson model is a reasonable model for calculating low-lying spectra in the set of Ce isotopes and the quality of fit presented in this work is acceptable.

Survey Of Muon Stripping In The Muon-Catalyzed $D-D$ Fusion Cycle In Pure Deuterium, Seyed Mohammad Motevalli, Maedeh Mohammdapourfard
Turkish Journal of Physics
Muon-catalyzed fusion is a very efficient nuclear fusion method to which a wide variety of experimental and theoretical studies have been devoted in recent years. The mixtures of hydrogen isotopes are the most appropriate particles to do this kind of fusion. The efficiency of muon-catalyzed fusion in mixtures of pure deuterium is due to the abundance of this isotope as compared to other hydrogen isotopes. The most important issue of reducing the efficiency of the muon-catalyzed fusion chain in pure deuterium mixtures is the probability of muons sticking to the helium-3 particle produced after the $d-d$ nuclear fusion reaction. In …

Description Of The Yrast Superdeformed Bands In Even-Even Nuclei In A $\Sim$ 190 Region Using The Nuclear Softness Model, Ali Khalaf, Karima Abdelmageed, Manal Sirag
Turkish Journal of Physics
A two-parameter nuclear softness (NS2) model for the transition energies is proposed by treating the variation of the moment of inertia with spin. The model has been applied to the yrast superdeformed (SD) bands in even-even nuclei in the mass region A $\sim $ 190. The model parameters have been determined from the fitting procedure in order to minimize the relative root mean square deviation between the experimental E2 transition $\gamma $-ray energies and the calculated ones. The basic experimental data on SD bands are given in the form of a series of $\gamma $-ray transitional energies and the spins …

Synthesis And Properties Of A Spinel Cathode Material For Lithium Ion Battery With Flat Potential Plateau, Ahmed Abdulrahman Ahmed Al-Tabbakh, Norlida Kamarulzaman, Aseel Al-Zubaidi
Turkish Journal of Physics
A potential cathode material for lithium ion battery was synthesised by combustion reaction. The thermal behaviour of the as-synthesised precursor was measured using a thermogravimetric analyser and the range of calcination temperature from 500 $^{\circ}$C to 800 $^{\circ}$C was determined. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that all calcined powders crystallised in the cubic spinel structure of the $Fd\bar{3}m$ space group. The particle size distributions and morphologies of the powders were obtained using a particle size analyser and scanning electron microscope. The effect of calcination temperature on the electrochemical performance was investigated using galvanostatic charge/discharge measurements. The potential profiles of charge and …

A Full Relativistic Treatment In Analyzing $\Alpha $-$^{12}$C And $\Alpha $-$^{40,42,44,48}$Ca Elastic Scattering Data At 1.37 Gev, Zuhair Fayyad Mahmoud Shehadeh
Turkish Journal of Physics
A simple optical potential of Woods-Saxon form is used within the framework of the Klein-Gordon equation, for the first time, to analyze the elastic differential cross sections for 1.37 GeV (lab) incident $\alpha $-particles on $^{12}$C and calcium isotopes $^{40,42,44,48}$Ca. The relativistic energy-momentum relation assures the need for relativistic calculations. As such, the previously determined parameters of all optical potential forms, used in the nonrelativistic Schrödinger equation and successfully analyzing the $\alpha $-$^{12}$C and $\alpha $-$^{40,42,44,48}$Ca data at 1.37 GeV, are to be revised. In the presence of Coulomb potential, as in the cases under consideration, the asymptotic solution of …
Symmetry And The Order Of Events In Time: The Thermodynamics Of Blackbodies Composed Of Positive Or Negative Masssymmetry And The Order Of Events In Time: The Thermodynamics Of Blackbodies Composed Of Positive Or Negative Mass, Randy Wayne
Turkish Journal of Physics
I have previously proposed a discrete symmetry called CPM (charge-parity-mass) symmetry that defines matter as having positive mass and antimatter as having negative mass-both being involved in processes that proceed forward in time. I have generalized the second law of thermodynamics to describe and predict the order of events in time that take place in reversible thermodynamic systems composed of positive or negative mass. Here I extend the CPM symmetry to irreversible thermo-optical radiation systems characterized by the Stefan-Boltzmann law, Planck's blackbody radiation law, and Einstein's law of specific heat. The laws of radiation analyzed in terms of CPM symmetry …

A van der Waals three body force rigid shell model (VTRSM) developed earlier for NaCl and CsCl structure was expanded by us for zinc blende structure (ZBS). This model includes the effect of three body interactions and van der Waals interactions in the rigid shell model where short-range interactions were considered up to the second neighbor. Our model thus developed was applied to study the phonon dispersion curves, Debye temperature variation, two phonon Raman/IR spectra, and anharmonic elastic properties of ZnS. Our results are in good agreement with the measured data wherever available.

Multiwave Solutions Of Fractional 4th And 5th Order Burgers Equationsmultiwave Solutions Of Fractional 4th And 5th Order Burgers Equations, Emad A-B. Abdel-Salam, Gamal Fargahly Hassan
Turkish Journal of Physics
Fractional 4th and 5th order Burgers equations were studied by improving the generalized Exp-function method. The chief aim here was to discuss single-wave, double-wave, three-wave, and four-wave solutions for the space-time fractional (STF), time-fractional (TF), and space-fractional (SF) 4th and 5th order Burgers equations. The arbitrariness of the fractional orders allows much richer structures. It was observed that the wave amplitude of STF and SF Burgers equations is directly proportional to the noninteger derivative order, but the wave amplitude of TF Burgers equations is inversely proportional to the noninteger derivative order. From the graphical study of the obtained solution, a …

Turkish Journal of Physics
An attempt has been made to employ three different theoretical models for the determination of global solar radiation for the climate conditions of the Vhembe district of Limpopo Province in South Africa. The models are: 1) the Angstrom linear-based model, 2) the Hargreaves and Samani (temperature-based) model, and 3) the Garcia model. These models require the following meteorological data inputs: temperature, sunshine hours, and global solar irradiance on the horizontal surface. The regression coefficients from our previous study were also employed in the calculations. A 4-year (2007--2010) global solar irradiance and temperature data set from the Agricultural Research Council and …

In this paper, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) were fabricated using a zinc oxide (ZnO) semiconducting layer and different synthetic dyes. Eight different synthetic dyes were used to fabricate the DSSCs. Nanocrystalline ZnO powder was coated on transparent conducting fluorine-doped tin oxide glass using the doctor blade method to form a thin layer. The absorption spectra of the synthetic dyes were investigated. DSSCs were characterized with $J$-$V$ characteristic curves. The parameters reflecting the cell performance were calculated. The results revealed that eosin Y dye corresponds to the highest conversion efficiency. The dependence of the sintering temperature and the thicknesses of the …

Nickel oxide (NiO) nanostructures were deposited on Si (100), potassium bromide (KBr), and glass slide substrates at room temperature by the evaporation technique. The prepared samples were annealed at temperatures of 400 $^{\circ}$C and 600 $^{\circ}$C in air atmosphere. The structure, morphology, crystalline phase, optical properties, and chemical bonding of nanocrystalline nickel oxide were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-visible absorption spectrum, and FT-IR spectroscopy. XRD results and SEM images showed that nickel oxide nanoparticles have preferred orientation with uniform size distribution. The as-deposited films showed preferred orientation (texture) growth. As the films were annealed, the …

Turkish Journal of Physics
This article presents a modelling study of external magnetic field effect on a bifacial silicon solar cell's electric power and conversion efficiency. After the resolution of the magnetotransport equation and continuity equation of excess minority carriers, we calculate the photocurrent density and the photovoltage and then we deduce the solar cell's electric power before discussing the influence of the magnetic field on those electrical parameters. Using the electric power curves versus junction dynamic velocity we determine the maximum electric power, the operating point of the solar cell, and the conversion efficiency according to magnetic field intensity. The numerical data show …
Dust-Ion Acoustic Shock Waves For Nonplanar Geometry With Nonthermal Electrons And Adiabatic Dusty Plasmadust-Ion Acoustic Shock Waves For Nonplanar Geometry With Nonthermal Electrons And Adiabatic Dusty Plasma, Louis Ete Akpabio
Turkish Journal of Physics
The nonplanar Burgers' equation for dust-ion-acoustic shock waves was derived for unmagnetized adiabatic dusty plasmas, comprising static negatively charged dust fluid, nonthermal distributed electrons, and Boltzmann distributed positron and adiabatic ion fluid, by employing the standard reductive perturbation method. The solution of the modified Burgers' equation for nonplanar geometry is numerically analyzed. The dependence of dust-ion-acoustic shock waves on some plasma parameters is explored. It is observed that inclusion of the nonthermal electron distribution modifies the shock wave profile significantly. Likewise, it is found that the nonplanar geometry effects have an important role on the establishment of shock waves. It …

Turkish Journal of Physics
New empirical M-shell X-ray production cross sections have been deduced by introducing the dependence of the universal trend of the experimental data on the atomic number of the target, noted as "Z-dependence" for semiempirical cross sections in our previous work. For this effect, the updated experimental data (from 1980 to 2009) are used to calculate the empirical cross sections for heavy elements with 60 $\le $ Z $\le $ 90 by proton impact. Finally, a comparison is made between the deduced results and other earlier works.
Sfp Effect On Majorana Type Solar Neutrinos In The Presence Of Nonstandard Neutrino Interactionssfp Effect On Majorana Type Solar Neutrinos In The Presence Of Nonstandard Neutrino Interactions, Deni̇z Yilmaz
Turkish Journal of Physics
Assuming neutrinos are Majorana particles, neutrino oscillation is examined in the case of spin flavor precession (SFP) and nonstandard neutrino interaction (NSI). It is seen that the combined effect of them (SFP and NSI) is not ignorable for the neutrino oscillation.

Deriving The Snel-Descartes Law For A Single Photon, Randy Wayne
Turkish Journal of Physics
The laws of reflection and refraction are typically derived using a dispersion relation that assumes that the angular frequency stays the same across a vacuum--dielectric interface and that the angular wave number increases. At the single photon level, this means that the total energy of the photon is conserved but the linear momentum is not. Here I derive the laws of reflection and refraction for a single photon using a dispersion relation that is consistent with the conservation of both total energy and linear momentum. To ensure that both conservation laws are upheld, the optical path length must be considered …

Photovoltaic Enhancement Of Si Micro- And Nanostructure Solar Cells Via Ultrafast Laser Texturing, Falah A. H. Mutlak
Turkish Journal of Physics
The purpose of the present study was to achieve laser-microtextured Si structures, the material used as silicon wafers, with a thickness of 330 mu m for a fast laser texturing technique, in order to produce micro-/nanosurface textures by means of a UV femtosecond laser. A textured silicon surface was prepared that has the capability to trap light, thereby greatly reducing the visible light reflection for photovoltaic cells. The textured surface was measured by scanning electron microscope. The results showed a photocurrent increase of about 25% in the laser-textured zones.

The gamma-ray energy spectrum of ^{137}Cs was obtained according to different parameters such as preamplifier capacitance, the amplifier's coarse gain level, power supply voltage for the detector, and source-to-detector distance. This investigation was performed with both analogue and digital methods. In order to examine the effects of these parameters on energy resolution, a NaI(Tl) inorganic scintillation detector was used. In addition, the gamma energy spectrum of the radioisotope was obtained by means of FLUKA, which is one of the Monte Carlo simulation programmes. Energy resolution of the detector by these 3 methods was calculated. These resolution values were compared with …

Morphology And Crystallinity Control Of Wet Chemically Grown Zno Nanorods, Janos Volk, Róbert Erdélyi
Turkish Journal of Physics
The controlled growth of ZnO nanorods on technologically relevant substrates is essential for their practical integration into next generation optoelectronic and piezoelectric devices. In this report, highly ordered and uniform vertical ZnO nanorod arrays were synthesized using a facile, low temperature selective area wet chemical growth process. The nanorods were grown through nucleation windows that were patterned in a PMMA mask using electron beam lithography. At first, the technique was demonstrated on `ideal' ZnO single crystal substrates, where the geometrical parameters of the highly uniform and crystallographically coherent nanorods were dictated by the nucleation pattern, the polarity of the substrate, …

Thermodynamic Properties Of A Rotating Bose-Einstein Condensation In A Deep Optical Lattice, Hend A. Abdel-Gany, Ali Y. Ellithi, Abdelhamid A. Galal, Ahmed Hassan
Turkish Journal of Physics
In this paper, we suggest a conventional semiclassical approximation to calculate several thermodynamic quantities of a rotating Bose-Einstein condensation in a deep optical lattice. Expressions for the condensation fraction, critical temperature, and heat capacity are derived analytically. These expressions are obtained by considering the standard harmonic approximation of the deep optical lattice potential. The suggested approach is able to include the the finite size and the positive chemical potential effects simultaneously. The advantage of our suggested approach is in its simplicity, in comparison to the quantum-mechanical calculations (Bose-Hubbard model). Moreover, its generality allows the treatment of a finite temperature regime

The results of studies of broadband light transmission through a fiber loop and a double loop under the effect of nonlinear refractive index are presented in this paper. Fiber loop and double loop transmission/reflection vs. a coupler splitting ratio at various powers of the light with a spectral width of approximately 35 nm are studied and high efficient nonlinear light switching is demonstrated. It is shown that a double loop formed by consecutive connecting 2 fiber loops allows us to exclude the strong spectral dependence of light transmission/reflection and to distribute input light equally between them. Such all-fiber devices can …

We studied numerically the dynamics and bifurcations route to chaos of an optically injected semiconductor laser. The sequence of bifurcations mainly followed the period-doubling scenario. Observations of different kinds of injected semiconductor laser dynamical behaviors including stable state, periodic oscillation state, quasi-periodic oscillation state, co-existence of periodic and chaotic states, and period-3 and period-6 oscillation states are reported. The existence of isolated branches created from a sudden jump in the dynamics of the semiconductor laser was also observed in the bifurcation diagram. In order to draw a detailed picture for the dynamical behavior of the semiconductor laser, we constructed color …

Double Pulse Generation In A Highly Nonlinear Gaas Optical Waveguide, Jian Wei Wu
Turkish Journal of Physics
This paper presents a simulation and investigation about the nonlinear interplay between an optical pulse and GaAs waveguide. The results obtained show that the nonlinear processes including self-phase modulation, 2-photon absorption, and free carrier related effects will have significant influences on the temporal shape and frequency spectrum of a propagating pulse in the GaAs waveguide with the result that 2-photon absorption can extend the pulse duration that can be again compressed by the free carrier absorption. The outcome spectrum is also asymmetrical due to the free carrier related effects, which takes on a complicated oscillation structure resulting from the interference. …

The aim of this work is to present a theoretical study of a vertical junction silicon solar cell under monochromatic illumination. By solving the continuity equation and using a one-dimensional model in frequency modulation, we derive the analytical expressions of both excess minority carrier density and photovoltage. Based on these expressions, the solar cell capacitance was calculated; we then exhibited the effects of both illumination wavelength and incidence angle on the solar cell capacitance.
