Investigation Of A Novel Temperature-Sensing Mechanism Based On Strain-Induced Optical Path-Length Difference In A Multicore Optical Fiber, Belkis Gökbulut, Sema Güvenç, Mehmet Naci̇ İnci̇
Turkish Journal of Physics
A four-core optical fiber is employed to investigate a novel temperature-sensing mechanism, which is based on the strain-induced optical path-length difference between the fiber core pairs. A short segment of a four-core fiber is wound around a solid stainless steel cylinder to form a tight circular loop, which is exposed to temperatures of up to 100 $^{\circ}$C. Temperature-induced radial expansion of the stainless steel cylinder causes a shear strain in the fiber and introduces an optical path-length difference between the fiber core pairs. This results in a total phase shift of about 20.40 $\pm $ 0.29 rad in the interference …
Proton--Proton And Proton--Antiproton Differential Elastic Cross Sections Modeling At High And Ultra-High Energies Using A Hybrid Computing Paradigm, Elsayed Eldahshan
Proton--Proton And Proton--Antiproton Differential Elastic Cross Sections Modeling At High And Ultra-High Energies Using A Hybrid Computing Paradigm, Elsayed Eldahshan
Turkish Journal of Physics
This work presents a hybrid computing technique for modeling the differential elastic cross section of both proton--proton ``pp'' and proton--antiproton ``pp(bar)'' collisions from high to ultra-high energy regions (from 13.9 GeV to 14 TeV) as a function of the center-of-mass energy ``s'' squared and four momentum transfer squared ``t''. We proposed a genetic algorithm (GA) and support vector regression (SVR) hybrid techniques to calculate and predict the ``differential elastic cross section'' of both ``pp'' and ``pp(bar)''. Our proposed GA-SVR hybrid model shows a good match to the available experimental data, as well as predicting the latest and future ``TOTEM'' experiments …

Marder Type Universe With Bulk Viscous String Cosmological Model In $F(R,T)$ Gravity, Sezgi̇n Aygün
Turkish Journal of Physics
In this study, we have investigated homogeneous and anisotropic Marder space-time with bulk viscous string matter distribution in $f(R,T)$ gravity. For this aim we have used the anisotropy feature $(\frac{\sigma_{x}^{x} }{\theta })$ of Marder space-time and a deceleration parameter in two different $f(R,T)$ models. We have obtained bulk viscous matter distribution solutions in $f(R,T)$ gravity. Finally, some kinematical and physical properties are discussed.
First-Principles Modeling Of Gan/Mose$_{2}$ Van Der Waals Heterobilayer, Celal Yelgel
First-Principles Modeling Of Gan/Mose$_{2}$ Van Der Waals Heterobilayer, Celal Yelgel
Turkish Journal of Physics
We investigate structural and electronic properties of the graphene-like gallium nitride (GaN) monolayer deposited on a MoSe$_{2}$ monolayer by using density functional theory with the inclusion of the nonlocal van der Waals correction. The GaN is bound weakly to the MoSe$_{2}$ monolayer with adsorption energy of 49 meV/atom. We find that the heterobilayer is energetically favorable with the interlayer distance of 3.302 {\AA} indicating van der Waals (vdW) type interaction and the most stable stacking configuration is verified with different deposition sequences. The heterostructure of GaN/MoSe$_{2}$ is found to be indirect band gap semiconductor with gap value of 1.371 eV. …
Magnetized Strange Quark Matter In Reconstructed $F(R,T)$ Gravity For Bianchi I And V Universes With Cosmological Constant, Can Aktaş
Turkish Journal of Physics
In this article, we have investigated the behaviors of magnetized strange quark matter distributions for Bianchi I and V universes in reconstructed $f?eft( R,T \right)=\alpha_{1}R+\alpha_{2}f_{3}(T)$ gravity (here $\alpha_{1}$ and $\alpha_{2}$ are constants; $f_{3}(T)$ is an arbitrary function of $T)$. To get solutions of the field equations we have used a deceleration parameter and the equation of state for strange quark matter. The new represented $f(R,T)$ model includes two models of Harko et al. and transforms to general relativity. When $t\to ınfty $, we get the dark energy model ($p=-\rho )$ in reconstructed $f?eft( R,T \right)=\alpha _{1}R+\alpha_{2}f_{3}(T)$ gravity. However, we obtain …
Deconvolution Analysis Of Thermoluminescent Glow Curves In Various Commercial Dosimeters Using Two Different Approaches In The Framework Of The One-Trap, One-Recombination Model, Eren Şahi̇ner
Turkish Journal of Physics
This paper reports kinetic analysis on the thermoluminescence (TL) glow peaks of various widespread luminescence dosimeters. A common general order kinetic (GOK) approximation and a relatively recently suggested Lambert W-function equation were used. The activation energies and the order of kinetic parameters are the main subjects of the present study. According to the results of this study, the activation energies of the main dosimetric peaks are estimated as 2.05 $\pm $ 0.11, eV, 1.23 $\pm $ 0.05 eV, and 1.11 $\pm $ 0.06 eV for LiF based dosimeters (TLD100, TLD600, TLD700), Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$:C (TLD500), and BeO dosimeters, respectively. Moreover, a number …

Optical Visible Wavelength Region Selective Reflector Design For Photovoltaic Cells Using Photonic Crystal, Veysel Korkmaz, Ali̇ Çeti̇n
Turkish Journal of Physics
In this study, we have proposed an optical broadband angular reflector having a band selective feature and high reflectivity rate for photovoltaic implementations by using a photonic crystal structure made of two different dielectric layers. This paper presents new and useful information about a reflector that was designed by using a periodic structure composed of two Si based layers for the visible range in the solar spectrum region. The system has been adjusted in such a way that it could cover a wide wavelength area between the photonic band gaps at nearly λ ≈ 300-800 nm. We have tested the …

Monte Carlo Simulation Of A Medical Linear Accelerator For Filtered And Fff Systems, Çağri Yazğan, Yi̇ği̇t Çeçen
Turkish Journal of Physics
In order to simulate radiation transport, various algorithms, codes, and programs have been developed. In this study Monte Carlo N-particle code is used to simulate a medical electron linear accelerator gantry for research purposes. Detailed geometry of the LINAC head and water phantom are modeled and simulated for calculations. Analyses are made for filtered and flattening filter-free (FFF) systems. Percent depth dose and dose profile measurements are calculated with Monte Carlo simulations and compared with experimental and theoretical values for quality assurance of the model. Flux, dose, and spectrum analyses are performed for filtered and FFF systems separately. In this …
Calculation Of The Frequency Shifts And Damping Constant For The Raman Modes (A$_{1g}$, B$_{1})$ Near The Tetragonal-Cubic Transition In Srtio$_{3}$, Ali̇ Ki̇raci, Hasan Hami̇t Yurtseven
Calculation Of The Frequency Shifts And Damping Constant For The Raman Modes (A$_{1g}$, B$_{1})$ Near The Tetragonal-Cubic Transition In Srtio$_{3}$, Ali̇ Ki̇raci, Hasan Hami̇t Yurtseven
Turkish Journal of Physics
Raman shifts of the soft mode A$_{1g}$ and the B$_{1}$ mode are calculated at various pressures at room temperature for the cubic-tetragonal transition (P$_{C}$ = 9.5 GPa) in SrTiO$_{3}$. This calculation is performed using the observed volume data through the mode Grüneisen parameters of A$_{1g}$ and B$_{1}$, which vary with pressure, by fitting to the experimental wavenumbers in this crystalline system. Calculated Raman shifts are then used as order parameters to predict the pressure dependence of the damping constant and the inverse relaxation time for the cubic-tetragonal transition in SrTiO$_{3}$. Our predictions from the pseudospin-phonon coupling and the energy fluctuation …

Synthesis Of Ni-Fe Thin Films By Electrochemical Deposition Technique And Characterization Of Their Microstructures And Surface Morphologies, Umut Saraç, Mali̇k Kaya, Mevlana Celaletti̇n Baykul
Turkish Journal of Physics
Microstructural features and surface morphologies of Ni-Fe thin films fabricated by the electrochemical deposition technique have been experimentally studied. Ni-Fe thin films have been deposited under different deposition potentials and FeSO$_{4}$ concentrations. Energy dispersive X-ray measurements demonstrate that the Fe content decreases (increases) as the deposition potential (FeSO$_{4}$ concentration) is enhanced. All of the produced films exhibit an anomalous codeposition behavior. The effects of deposition potential and FeSO$_{4}$ concentrations on the degree of anomalous codeposition have been also characterized. X-ray diffraction studies reveal that the films have face-centered cubic crystallographic structures with [111] preferred crystallographic orientation regardless of the applied …
Quark Shapes Of Most Modern Parton Distribution Functions, Hasan Oğul
Quark Shapes Of Most Modern Parton Distribution Functions, Hasan Oğul
Turkish Journal of Physics
Parton distribution functions (PDFs) describe the internal structure of the proton and are necessary inputs to almost all theory predictions of hadron colliders. One way to do a precise measurement of a PDF is to measure the lepton charge asymmetry of W boson where u$\bar{d}\to W^{+}$ and $d\bar{u}\to W^{-}$. Therefore, u, d, $\bar{u}$, and $\bar{d}$ quark shapes of the most modern PDF models (NNPDF3.1, NNPDF3.0, CT14, MMHT2014, and HERAPDF2.0) are inspected using the APFEL online cluster in this paper. The ratio of $d$ to $u$ is further investigated since the charge asymmetry is sensitive to the value of $d$ over …

Analytical Solution Of The Local Fractional Klein-Gordon Equation For Generalized Hulthen Potential, Hasi̇be Hale Karayer, Ahmet Doğan Demi̇rhan, Fevzi̇ Büyükkiliç
Turkish Journal of Physics
The one-dimensional Klein-Gordon (KG) equation is investigated in the domain of conformable fractional calculus for one-dimensional scalar potential, namely generalized Hulthen potential. The conformable fractional calculus is based on conformable fractional derivative, which is the most natural definition in noninteger order calculus. Fractional order differential equations can be solved analytically by means of this derivative operator. We obtained exact eigenvalue and eigenfunction solutions of the local fractional KG equation and investigated the evolution of relativistic effects in correspondence with the fractional order.
Applying A Self-Feedback Method To Control Chaos In The Buck Converter, Mei Mei Jia
Applying A Self-Feedback Method To Control Chaos In The Buck Converter, Mei Mei Jia
Turkish Journal of Physics
Chaos exists in the Buck converter due to the switching action of the controlled switch and this nonlinear phenomenon results in unreliable working performances. Hence, this paper uses a self-feedback control method with two adjustable parameters to suppress the chaotic behavior in the Buck converter. First, the self-feedback control method is presented by introducing a generic second-order chaotic system. Then, from the perspective of transfer functions obtained in terms of the piecewise linear model of the controlled Buck converter, effects of controller's parameters on system performances are discussed. On the basis of the Jacobian matrix of the discrete iterative mapping …

Magnetic Effect On The Phase Properties Of Neodymium-Activated Yttrium Disilicate Nanomaterials, Murat Erdem, Ci̇hat Boyraz
Turkish Journal of Physics
Under varying temperature conditions, undoped Y$_{2}$Si$_{2}$O$_{7}$ and neodymium-doped Y$_{2}$Si$_{2}$O$_{7}$ nanopowders were synthesized by the sol-gel method. The phase transitions from $\alpha $ to $\delta $ were observed in neodymium nanopowders by XRD measurements. TEM images showed ball-shaped structure forms for synthesized samples. The elemental compositions of all samples were established and quite close stoichiometry to all compound formulas was found using an attached component for TEM. To reveal the Nd dopant effect in different-phased Y$_{2}$Si$_{2}$O$_{7}$ nanopowders, diffuse reflectance measurements were conducted. To establish the magnetic properties of undoped Y$_{2}$Si$_{2}$O$_{7}$ and neodymium-doped Y$_{2}$Si$_{2}$O$_{7}$ nanopowders, an extensive study was carried out including …
Validity Of Ehrenfest's Theorem For Generalizedfields Of Dyons, Gaurav Karnatak, Praveen Singh Bisht, Om Prakash Singh Negi
Validity Of Ehrenfest's Theorem For Generalizedfields Of Dyons, Gaurav Karnatak, Praveen Singh Bisht, Om Prakash Singh Negi
Turkish Journal of Physics
The validity of Ehrenfest's theorem with its classical correspondence has been justified for the manifestly covariant equations of dyons. We have also developed accordingly the Lagrangian formulation for electromagnetic fields in a minimum coupled source giving rise to conserved current of dyons. Applying the Gupta subsidiary condition we have extended the validity of the Ehrenfest's theorem for $U\left(1\right)\times U\left(1\right)$ Abelian gauge theory of dyons. It is shown that the expectation value of the quantum equation of motion reproduces the classical equation of motion, which is the generalized form of Ehrenfest's theorem in quantum field theory.

Isospin Mixing And Fermi Transitions For Some Deformed Nuclei, Serdar Ünlü, Hasan Ali̇ Aygör, Necla Çakmak, Cevad Selam
Turkish Journal of Physics
We have tried to give a self-consistent explanation of isospin mixing and Fermi beta decays for 54 $\le $ Z $\le $ 68 deformed nuclei. The effect of isospin impurity in nuclear ground states on Fermi beta transitions has been investigated considering the restoration of symmetry violations stemming from the mean field approximation. The isobar analogue excitations in neighbor odd-odd nuclei have been obtained by following the proton-neutron quasiparticle random phase approximation (pnQRPA) procedure. The dependence of isospin admixture probability on the deformation parameter has been determined for various isotopes of Z = 54-68 nuclei. Then the variations of isobar …
Recursion Formula For The Green's Function Of A Hamiltonian For Several Types Of Dirac Delta-Function Potentials In Curved Spaces, Fati̇h Erman
Turkish Journal of Physics
In this short article, we nonperturbatively derive a recursive formula for the Green's function associated with finitely many point Dirac delta potentials in one dimension. We extend this formula to the one for the Dirac delta potentials supported by regular curves embedded in two-dimensional manifolds and for the Dirac delta potentials supported by two-dimensional compact manifolds embedded in three-dimensional manifolds. Finally, this formulation allows us to find the recursive formula of the Green's function for the point Dirac delta potentials in two- and three-dimensional Riemannian manifolds, where the renormalization of coupling constant is required.
Properties Of Asymmetric Semiinfinite Nuclear Systems In The Extended Thomas-Fermi Model, Mohamed Abdalla
Properties Of Asymmetric Semiinfinite Nuclear Systems In The Extended Thomas-Fermi Model, Mohamed Abdalla
Turkish Journal of Physics
We start from the energy density of the Skyrme interaction and perform a leptodermous expansion for an asymmetric semiinfinite nuclear system. We get a liquid drop model formula for the energy of such a system. We use the obtained analytic formulae for volume, surface, and curvature energies to study the properties of asymmetric nuclear systems. We also study the effect of the asymmetry parameter on the volume, surface, and curvature properties.
A Comparative Study Of The Electronic Properties Of Aluminum Nitride Compounds, Rezek Mohammad, Şenay Katircioğlu
A Comparative Study Of The Electronic Properties Of Aluminum Nitride Compounds, Rezek Mohammad, Şenay Katircioğlu
Turkish Journal of Physics
Electronic properties of aluminum nitride in wurtzite, zinc-blende, and rock-salt phases are investigated by a full potential-linearized augmented plane waves method based on density functional theory within standard local density approximation and its four improved versions. Local density approximation corrected by the generalized gradient functional of Perdew-Wang-Engel-Vosko is found to be more successful than the other generalized gradient functional approximations considered in this work for providing reasonable lattice constants, energy gaps, effective electron and hole masses, and optical features for AlN phases. Although local density approximation corrected by modified Becke-Johnson potential underestimates the static dielectric constants, it provides the largest …

Structural And Optical Properties Of Gallium Sulfide Thin Film, Hüseyi̇n Ertap, Tarik Baydar, Mustafa Yüksek, Mevlüt Karabulut
Turkish Journal of Physics
Structural, morphological, and optical properties of gallium sulfide film grown by chemical bath deposition have been investigated by XRD, SEM, AFM, and optical absorption techniques. The XRD spectrum indicated that the gallium sulfide film grew in crystalline form and the phase was identified as GaS. Gallium sulfide film had an island-like structure with a random distribution on a glass substrate. The particle size of the crystallites and surface roughness of the film were found to be 28-48 nm and 11.84 nm, respectively. The direct and indirect band gaps of gallium sulfide thin film were calculated from the absorption spectra as …

Crystal Dynamics Of Zinc Chalcogenides Iii: An Application To Znte, Jay Prakash Dubey, Raj Kishor Tiwari, Kripa Shankar Upadhyaya, Pramod Kumar Pandey
Turkish Journal of Physics
We report the results of a theoretical study on phonon dispersion curves (PDCs) along the three principal symmetry directions, Debye temperature variation, combined density of states (CDS) curves, two-phonon Raman/IR peaks, and anharmonic elastic properties (third order elastic constants and their pressure derivatives) of ZnTe. This new van der Waals three-body force rigid shell model (VTRSM) incorporates the effect of van der Waals interactions and three-body interactions into the rigid shell model of zinc blende structure, where the short range interactions are operative up to the second neighbors. Our results are in good agreement with the available measured data for …
The Magnetic Properties Of A Quantum Dot In A Magnetic Field, Ayham Shaer, Mohammad Elsaid, Musa Elhasan
The Magnetic Properties Of A Quantum Dot In A Magnetic Field, Ayham Shaer, Mohammad Elsaid, Musa Elhasan
Turkish Journal of Physics
We calculate the magnetization and susceptibility of two interacting electrons confined in a quantum dot presented in a magnetic field by solving the Hamiltonian using the exact diagonalization method. We investigate the dependence of the magnetization and susceptibility on temperature, magnetic field, and confining frequency. The singlet-triplet transitions in the ground state of the quantum dot spectra and the corresponding jumps in the magnetization curves are shown. The comparisons show that our results are in very good agreement with reported works.
Thermal Diffusion In Thin Plates And Coatings: Influence Of Thickness And Substrate Material, Harshan Soumya, Jacob Philip
Thermal Diffusion In Thin Plates And Coatings: Influence Of Thickness And Substrate Material, Harshan Soumya, Jacob Philip
Turkish Journal of Physics
The dependence of thermal diffusivity/conductivity on thickness for a variety of coatings and free-standing thin metallic plates was measured using a traveling photothermal technique. The selected materials have large differences in terms of their thermal conductivity. Measurements were carried out on coatings prepared on substrates with two widely different values for thermal conductivity to bring out the influence of substrate thermal conductivity on the thermal diffusivity/conductivity of the coating. Thermal diffusivity/conductivity increases exponentially with coating thickness with the value saturating at a definite thickness. The variation follows an empirical relation, which can predict thermal diffusivity of a coating at any …

An Approach Based On Neural Computation To Simulate Transition Metals Using Tight Binding Measurements, Adel Belayadi, Boualem Bourahla, Leila Ait-Gougam, Fawzia Mekideche-Chafa
Turkish Journal of Physics
A theoretical study of neural networks modeling, based on the tight binding approach, is proposed in this study. The aim of the present contribution is to establish a network topology to compute the binding energy parameters of transition metals. However, because of the different types of crystallization fcc, bcc, hcp, and sc of transition metals, neural network topology determination cannot be easily established, i.e. it would not be able to collect the data to feed the neurocomputing model. Hence, in order to overcome this problem, it would be helpful to distinguish one common structure from fcc, bcc, hcp, and sc. …

Determination Of The Effective Atomic Numbers Of Fe$_{X}$Cu$_{1-X} $Binary Ferroalloys Using A Nondestructive Technique: Rayleigh-To-Compton Scattering Ratio, Mehmet Büyükyildiz
Turkish Journal of Physics
The aim of the present study is to determine effective atomic numbers ($Z_{eff})$ of Fe$_{x}$Cu$_{1-x} $ binary ferroalloys using scattering of 59.54 keV gamma photons at 130$^{\circ}$ ($x=4.36{{\unicode{x212B}}}^{-1})$ scattering angle. For this purpose, the Rayleigh ($R)$ and Compton ($C)$ scattering intensities for the given alloys were measured using a monoenergetic beam of 59.54 keV gamma rays and the Rayleigh-to-Compton scattering ratio $R/C $was determined. Then the $Z_{eff}$ values of these alloys were determined by interpolating the $R/C$ of the material using the $R/C$ data of adjacent elements in between the $R/C$ of the alloys. For comparison, $Z_{eff}$s of alloys were …

Effect Of Glow Discharge Plasma On Step Index Polymer Optical Fiber Parameters, Mohamed Medhat, El-Sayed El-Zaiat, Mohamed Sauday, Mona Omar, Hassanein Shaaban
Turkish Journal of Physics
DC glow discharge plasma of power 40 W was applied to step index polymer optical fibers for different exposure times. Nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen gases were used to obtain the glow discharge. The fiber core material was poly methyl methacrylate and the cladding was fluorinated polymer. The effect of plasma on the optical parameters, such as core index profile, cladding index, and the numerical aperture, was studied by multiple beam interference fringes and Fourier transformation of infrared spectroscopy spectra. It was found that the plasma treatment affected the optical parameters of both the cladding and the core regions of optical …

Amplitude Modulation Of Ion-Acoustic Waves In Magnetized Electron-Positron-Ion Plasma With Q-Nonextensive Electrons And Positrons, Basudev Ghosh, Sreyasi Banerjee
Turkish Journal of Physics
Using a standard reductive perturbation technique, a nonlinear Schrödinger equation has been derived that describes the nonlinear evolution of ion-acoustic waves in magnetized electron-positron-ion plasma with electrons and positrons following q-nonextensive distribution. It is shown that excitation of both bright and dark envelope solitary structures is possible in the model plasma under consideration. The conditions for the excitation and structure of these envelope solitary waves are shown to depend sensitively on the strength of the external magnetic field, obliqueness of wave propagation relative to the external magnetic field, and other plasma parameters such as the q-nonextensivity of plasma species, positron …
