Legendre G-Array Pairs And The Theoretical Unification Of Several G-Array Families, K. T. Arasu, Dursun A. Bulutoglu, J. R. Hollon
Legendre G-Array Pairs And The Theoretical Unification Of Several G-Array Families, K. T. Arasu, Dursun A. Bulutoglu, J. R. Hollon
Faculty Publications
We investigate how Legendre G-array pairs are related to several different perfect binary G-array families. In particular we study the relations between Legendre G-array pairs, Sidelnikov-Lempel-Cohn-Eastman ℤq−1-arrays, Yamada-Pott G-array pairs, Ding-Helleseth-Martinsen ℤ2×ℤmp-arrays, Yamada ℤ(q−1)/2-arrays, Szekeres ℤmp-array pairs, Paley ℤmp-array pairs, and Baumert ℤm1p1×ℤm2p2-array pairs. Our work also solves one of the two open problems posed in Ding~[J. Combin. Des. 16 (2008), 164-171]. Moreover, we provide several computer search based existence and non-existence results regarding Legendre ℤn-array pairs. …
Separability Of The Planar 1/Ρ2 Potential In Multiple Coordinate Systems, Richard Decosta, Brett David Altschul
Separability Of The Planar 1/Ρ2 Potential In Multiple Coordinate Systems, Richard Decosta, Brett David Altschul
Faculty Publications
With a number of special Hamiltonians, solutions of the Schrödinger equation may be found by separation of variables in more than one coordinate system. The class of potentials involved includes a number of important examples, including the isotropic harmonic oscillator and the Coulomb potential. Multiply separable Hamiltonians exhibit a number of interesting features, including “accidental” degeneracies in their bound state spectra and often classical bound state orbits that always close. We examine another potential, for which the Schrödinger equation is separable in both cylindrical and parabolic coordinates: A z-independent V/ρ2=1/(x2+y2) in three dimensions. All the persistent, …
Superconducting Phase Transition In Inhomogeneous Chains Of Superconducting Islands, Eduard Ilin, Irina Burkova, Xiangyu Song, Michael Pak, Dmitri S. Golubev, Alexey Bezryadin
Superconducting Phase Transition In Inhomogeneous Chains Of Superconducting Islands, Eduard Ilin, Irina Burkova, Xiangyu Song, Michael Pak, Dmitri S. Golubev, Alexey Bezryadin

We study one-dimensional chains of superconducting islands with a particular emphasis on the regime in which every second island is switched into its normal state, thus forming a superconductor-insulator-normal metal (S-I-N) repetition pattern. As is known since Giaever tunneling experiments, tunneling charge transport between a superconductor and a normal metal becomes exponentially suppressed, and zero-bias resistance diverges, as the temperature is reduced and the energy gap of the superconductor grows larger than the thermal energy. Here we demonstrate that this physical phenomenon strongly impacts transport properties of inhomogeneous superconductors made of weakly coupled islands with fluctuating values of the critical …
Twisted Space-Frequency And Space-Time Partially Coherent Beams, Milo W. Hyde Iv
Twisted Space-Frequency And Space-Time Partially Coherent Beams, Milo W. Hyde Iv
Faculty Publications
We present partially coherent sources that are statistically twisted in the space-frequency and space-time domains. Beginning with the superposition rule for genuine partially coherent sources, we derive source plane expressions for the cross-spectral density (CSD) and mutual coherence functions (MCFs) for twisted space-frequency and space-time Gaussian Schell-model (GSM) beams. Using the Fresnel approximation to the free-space Green’s function, we then paraxially propagate the CSD and MCF to any plane z> 0. We discuss the beams’ behavior as they propagate, with particular emphasis on how the beam shape rotates or tumbles versus z. To validate our analysis, we simulate the generation …

Identifying Active Kelvin–Helmholtz Vortices On Saturn's Magnetopause Boundary, B. L. Burkholder, P. A. Delamere, Jay R. Johnson, C.- S. Ng

For Cassini magnetopause encounters, we analyse plasma and magnetic fields. The boundary can be unstable to the Kelvin–Helmholtz instability (KHI), which can drive large‐scale flows identifiable in plasma measurements. Bulk flow reversed from the expected direction near the magnetopause can indicate vorticity associated with active KH, and events are found dominantly in the dawn–subsolar region. KHIs are also responsible for magnetic field fluctuations, and hybrid simulations indicate heating, and transport is significant in an actively growing vortex. Cassini observations are filtered for disturbed magnetic fields near the magnetopause, similar to the signatures from hybrid simulations, with significant fluctuation and current …

Development Of Smartphone-Based Ecl Sensor For Dopamine Detection: Practical Approaches, Hyun J. Kwon, Elmer Rivera, Mabio R. Cohelo Neto, Daniel Marsh, Jonathan Swerdlow, Rodney Lee Summerscales, Padma P. Tadi Uppala

In this work, a compact, mobile phone-based ECL sensor apparatus was developed using the phone cameras, screen-printed electrodes (SPE), and mobile app for dopamine detection. Methods of DC voltage application for ECL reaction were comprehensively studied from the mobile phone itself or external power. Under optimized sensing conditions, with disposable carbon SPE and 20 mM coreactant tri-n-propylamine (TPrA), acceptable repeatability and reproducibility were achieved in terms of relative standard deviation (RSD) of intra- and interassays, which were 6.7 and 5.5%, respectively. The biochemical compound dopamine was measured due to its ECL quenching characteristics and its clinical importance. The …

A Guide To Ligo–Virgo Detector Noise And Extraction Of Transient Gravitational-Wave Signals, Tiffany Summerscales, Ligo Scientific Collaboration And The Virgo Collaboration
Faculty Publications
The LIGO Scientific Collaboration and the Virgo Collaboration have cataloged eleven confidently detected gravitational-wave events during the first two observing runs of the advanced detector era. All eleven events were consistent with being from well-modeled mergers between compact stellarmass objects: black holes or neutron stars. The data around the time of each of these events have been made publicly available through the gravitationalwave open science center. The entirety of the gravitational-wave strain data from the first and second observing runs have also now been made publicly available. There is considerable interest among the broad scientific community in understanding the data …
