Canine cranial cruciate ligament ruptures have become common with improved nutrition and nonselective breeding strategies. This study assessed 7 dogs of various breeds and ages with the diagnosis of cranial cruciate ligament ruptures. The triple tibial osteotomy (TTO) method was used to treat the rupture. All of the dogs were admitted to the clinic for varying degrees of lameness. Diagnosis was confirmed using both clinical and radiologic examinations. Body weights of the dogs were between 12 and 65 kg. Informed consent was given by the owners prior to surgery. This study aims to investigate the action of rosemary oil on the immortalized keratinocyte cell line. Samples of Rosmarinus officinalis that were growing uncultivated in central Turkey were harvested during flowering in May 2016. The rosemary oil was obtained by the hydrodistillation of the dried ground material in a Clevenger-like apparatus. This study was carried out to determine the preferences of dogs for some commonly used fat sources in dog food. Three different types of food were produced using 5% additional sunflower oil, poultry fat, or beef tallow. The food was extruded using a twin-screw extruder at approximately 25% moisture and temperatures in the range of 90 °C to 135 °C. Water determines the life quality of pigs, however, adequate measures need to be taken in order to reduce wastage while the animals are drinking. The current study hypothesized and examined a suitable position at which to fix the nipple drinker to provide sufficient drinking water to pigs while also limiting water wastage. In the present study, the effect of exon 3 of the toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) gene on ovine Johne?s disease (OJD) serostatus was tested in Turkish sheep breeds. Initially, a retrospective cohort was performed using indirect ELISA on a commingled flock consisting of 3 native and 4 composite breeds (n = 1750). Amongst ruminant livestock diseases, the gastrointestinal (GIT) helminths and protozoan parasite infections result in a significant socio-economic concern worldwide. During the period between October 2017 and November 2018, a total of 788 fresh fecal specimens from cattle (n = 303) and sheep (n = 485) were screened for the presence of gastrointestinal helminths and protozoan parasites in two historical regions (Crisana and Banat) of western Romania. The goal of this study was to describe and compare B mode and elastographic characteristics of the pectineus muscle of healthy dogs with dysplastic dogs. Thirty-one dogs (62 limbs) with hip dysplasia and 17 nondysplastic dogs (34 limbs) were evaluated. The hip dysplasia score was defined according to the Fédération Cynologique Internationale. Using B mode, echotexture and echogenicity of different regions of the pectineus muscle were evaluated. Direct and indirect measurements were performed on 700 table eggs which were daily collected from the same flock. Twelve multiparous Nili Ravi buffaloes were assigned to 1 of 3 treatments in a randomized, replicated 3 × 3 Latin square design to evaluate the effect of chemical (calcium propionate)- and toxin binder (sodium bentonite)-treated cotton seed cake (CSC) on milk yield and transfer of milk toxin (M1). Production And Egg Quality Traits Of Organic Hens In A Laying Period Under Commercialconditions In Turkey, Onur Saribaş, Umut Sami̇ Yamak

The productive performance and egg quality traits of hens in an organic production system in Turkey were executed in this paper. A total of 6000 hens were reared in an organic system for 72 weeks. Two organic certified houses each with a capacity of 3000 hens were used in the study. Mean egg production during the laying period was 303 eggs per hen. Laying rate was 80.24% for 72 weeks, while mortality was 8.85%. The internal and external egg quality traits were determined between 25 and 72 weeks. It is important to know the morphological structure of the heart, which is a vital organ of the body, in detail. For this reason, we aimed to examine the morphological structure of the Saanen goat heart using light and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A total of thirteen Saanen goat hearts were used in the study. The aim of our work was to evaluate the chemical composition and cumulative gas production profiles of annual ryegrass hay through in vitro incubations for two cutting heights and different nitrogen fertilization doses. The Effects Of Season And Chick Sex On Certain Performance Parameters In Commercialturkey Farms In The Aegean Region, Gündüz İlsever, Pembe Di̇lara Keçi̇ci̇, Bülent Eki̇z

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of season and sex on the production efficiency of commercial turkey farms in the Aegean Region. The data of 1161 production periods (570 male and 591 female) on 139 turkey farms between 2008 and 2017 were analysed. Daily feed consumption, feed conservation ratio (FCR), average daily gain (ADG), performance index, and carcass weight (P < 0.001) were higher in males than females. While males and females had a similar mortality rate in the first week (P > 0.05), the mortality rate in the later stages was higher in males (P < 0.001). The mortality rate in the initial period was highest in production periods that began in winter and lowest in those that began in summer (P < 0.001). The total mortality rate was higher in the autumn group than in the spring and summer groups (P < 0.001). Rearing season × sex interaction had a significant influence on the performance characteristics investigated in the study, except for mortality rates and survival. In males, FCR was lower in the autumn and winter groups than that of the spring and summer groups (P < 0.05). The highest ADG values were observed in the summer group for males and in the winter group for females. The best performance index was in the summer group in males, and the lowest performance index was observed in the autumn group for both males and females. In conclusion, environmental arrangements are needed in order to reduce the mortality rate and improve performance in production periods that began in autumn and winter.
