Human movement involves complex coordination between multiple limbs during execution. Human gait is cyclic, and the knee's movement inherently follows nonlinear dynamic behavior that linear models cannot adequately capture. In this study, advanced Machine Learning (ML) techniques were employed to combine the Sparse Identification of Nonlinear Dynamics (SINDy) algorithm using Python to reveal governing equations of knee movement during walking. We gathered a single subject's knee motion data using infrared markers during normal walking. We utilized the PySINDy library to determine the governing equations and calculated the coefficient of dynamical systems associated with knee kinematics. Our results emphasize governing equations …

Background: A 58-year-old male with chronic bilateral treatment resistant abdominal spasms secondary complications of ascites/ alcoholic cirrhosis. Spasms would occur 4-5 times/day, lasting minutes to hours despite a 2-year course of therapeutic and pharmacological interventions. Due to treatment refraction, 6 uniformly spaced botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) injections were placed per side, using electromyography for audible intramuscular syringe placement confirmation, while visual confirmation was made via ultrasound. Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the effect of intensity dosing during tongue exercise on tongue pressure generation, adherence, and perceived effort.

Design: This was a five-site, prospective, randomized clinical trial. Outcome measures were obtained across multiple baselines, biweekly during exercise, and 4-weeks post-intervention.

Setting: The general community at each study site. Participants: Typically aging adults between 55–82 years of age with no history of neurological or swallowing disorders. Eighty-four volunteers completed the study.
