• Occupational therapy is a cornerstone rehabilitation profession that provides client-centered care for individuals experiencing a loss of independence at any age. 
• Over 90% of occupational therapy educational programs use simulation.⁶
• Research suggests that simulation can be used to prepare occupational therapy students for their full-time clinical placements.^1,5
• However, little is known about occupational therapy students' perceptions of the effectiveness of simulations compared to introductory clinical fieldwork experiences to enhance specific clinical skills.

In March of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic impacted clinical and educational environments accessed by occupational therapy students. Educators had to reimagine learning in virtual spaces—including fieldwork education. At the same time, workers in many industries quickly pivoted from office spaces to a work from home (WFH) environment. • The concept of frailty, initially developed in geriatrics, has recently been applied to individuals with heart failure (HF) and is recognized as an essential measure for prognostication of health status and predicting health outcomes
• Frailty remains highly prevalent, ranging between 56-79% in those undergoing left ventricular assist device (LVAD) evaluation¹ and is associated with poor postoperative outcomes.²
