Ankle Injuries And Ankle Strength, Flexibility, And Proprioception In College Basketball Players, Kristen A. Payne, Kris E. Berg, Richard W. Latin
Health and Kinesiology Faculty Publications
Injuries to the ankle joint are among the most common of all sport-related injuries. Figures range from 10% to 30% of all injuries and from 5% to 20% of all time-loss injuries.1-9 Athletes participating in sports such as football, soccer, basketball, and volleyball are especially at risk for this type of injury, largely because of the running and jumping involved. In 1977, Garrick3 reported that during any single year of a 6-year period at the University of Washington, at least 16% of all time-loss injuries for all sports involved ankle sprains.
Reliability Of Assessment Of Postural Control In The Sitting Position In The Hemiplegic Subjects By Use Of A Functional Reach Task, Karen Dreher Carter
Reliability Of Assessment Of Postural Control In The Sitting Position In The Hemiplegic Subjects By Use Of A Functional Reach Task, Karen Dreher Carter
Rehabilitation Sciences Theses & Dissertations
No single standardized and reliable method exists for measuring postural control in sitting in the stroke patient population. Postural control in sitting is often a portion of the total physical therapy assessment of the hemiplegic patient. The purpose of this research was to investigate the reliability of a functional reach test as a measure of postural control in sitting in the adult hemiplegic population. The measurement method was performed on 23 adult hemiplegic subjects, ages 62-88 years (mean= 73.6 + 7.9 years). Two physical therapists scored the subjects on the functional reach task. once the functional reach measure was obtained …
The Effect Of Kinesthetic And Demonstration Techniques Of Instruction Upon Standing Broad Jump Performance, Howard Philip Meyer
The Effect Of Kinesthetic And Demonstration Techniques Of Instruction Upon Standing Broad Jump Performance, Howard Philip Meyer
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
A test of standing broad jump ability was administered to ninety-three sixth grade boys to compare the kinesthetic and demonstration methods of instruction. The subjects were classified on the Neilson-Cozens Classification Index and divided into three groups. The first group received the kinesthetic method of instruction, the second group was instructed using the demonstration method, and the third group did not receive any formal instruction.
The data were examined by computing the mean and standard deviation of each pre-test and post-test group. The mean and standard deviation of the pre-test scores were 60.61 and 7.589. The mean and standard deviation …
The Effects Of Limited Training In Hypnosis Upon Reaction Time, Veronica Eskridge
The Effects Of Limited Training In Hypnosis Upon Reaction Time, Veronica Eskridge
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
This study was undertaken for the purpose of investigating the effects of limited training in hypnosis upon reaction time. More specifically, this study was conducted: (1) to find the immediate effect of a post-hypnotic suggestion for improvement upon simple reaction time responses of the preferred hand to a visual stimulus; and (2) to find the carry-over effect of the posthypnotic suggestion after three weeks with no further hypnosis, practice, or instruction.
