Purpose: Injury prevention and mitigation are among the primary responsibilities of Athletic Trainers. Research has indicated that basketball players at the secondary-school level suffer up to 2.1 time loss injuries (TLI) per 1,000 athletic exposures (AE). It has been suggested that Functional Movement Screen (FMS™) composite and individual task scores may help determine injury risk. Objective: Present a pair of clinical cases demonstrating the utilization of regional interdependent (RI) evaluation and treatment in an apparent lateral ankle sprain. The utilization of both Positional Release Therapy (PRT) and Mulligan Concept (MC) on secondary school athletes with an apparent acute lateral ankle sprain are presented. Background: Lateral ankle sprains are a common injury in athletics. While the MC has been shown to be an effective manual therapy in ankle sprains, if the treatment is not pain-free it is considered not warranted. Context: Physical appearance and dress attire may be a major influence on a person’s perception of an individual’s professional competence. Objective: To examine influence of Athletic Trainer (AT) physical appearance and dress attire on student-athletes’ perception of an AT’s competence. Design: Cross-Sectional Study Setting: NATA District 5 Participants: Student athletes (n=156; female: n=71; male: n=78) from NCAA Division III and NAIA institutions participated in the study. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of cupping therapy on skin surface temperature, and therefore local blood flow, at the medial forearm. Methods: 32 healthy subjects [13 females (age = 21.14 ± 1.70, height = 168.00 ± 9.70 cm, mass = 67.07 ± 16.93) and 16 males (age = 21.78 ± 1.90, height = 180.62 ± 6.09, mass = 88.35 ± 14.66) participated in this study. Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of an infrapatellar strap on pain reduction in participants with patellar tendinopathy. Methods: Articles were identified from PubMed, CINAHL, Medline, and SportDiscus using the string “((((patellar tendinitis OR patellar tendinopathy))) AND ((cho-pat strap OR infrapatellar strap OR compression device OR brace))) AND pain” from January 2009-January 2019, resulting in nine studies. After a review of the title and abstracts, six studies were reviewed in-depth. Of these articles, four studies met the inclusion criteria. • A 24-year-old male with open traumatic brain injury (TBI) due to gunshot wound (GSW).
• Initial evaluation revealed a GCS of 3 with GSW to left arm, left abdomen, left flank, and left skull.
• Initial work up with CT-Head showed extensive subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebral edema with residual bullet fragments in the posterior fossa.

• 56-year-old female patient with prior questionable diagnoses of brainstem infarct, multiple sclerosis, and systemic lupus erythematosus who presented to the hospital with progressive dysarthria, lethargy, and weakness.
• MRI noted bilateral demyelinating lesions of the midbrain, pons, and middle cerebellar peduncles as well as nonspecific signal abnormality in the spinal cord at T6-T7.
• Her condition further deteriorated to flaccid complete tetraplegia. Communication was limited to extraocular movements and eye blinking.
• Serum aquaporin-4 antibody assay was positive.

Aims: We investigated relationships among the Pediatric Neuromuscular Recovery Scale (Peds NRS), modified Hoffer Scale, and spatiotemporal gait parameters in children with myelomeningocele (MMC).

Methods: 21 children with MMC, age 5.3 years (SD = 2.6), were assessed by three clinicians using the Peds NRS and modified Hoffer Scale. In eight children, gait parameters were also measured.

Results: The Peds NRS summary score demonstrated good correlation with modified Hoffer Scale score (r = -0.64, p = 0.002) that accounted for 41% of variation in summary score. Six Peds NRS seated/standing items exhibited good relationships with modified Hoffer Scale …

Background: Cognitive decline is age relevant and it can start as early as middle age. The decline becomes more obvious among older adults, which is highly associated with increased risk of developing dementia (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease). In the primary care setting, fatigue is a common complaint, outnumbered only by cough. 41.9% of patients in an outpatient physical therapy setting reported unacceptable fatigue. Fatigue scores are weakly correlated to physical function and pain interference (using Patient Reported Outcome Measurement Information Systems [PROMIS]). Therefore, detecting fatigue and addressing it directly is necessary.

Center for Disease Control reports the following as fall risk factors: lower extremity weakness, vision problems, and difficulty maintaining balance during walking. Greatest predictor for a fall, is prior fall within the last year. Injury from a fall leads to: fear of falls, inactivity, atrophy, higher risk for falls. Kouzake and Masani (2008) indicated that improvements in postural sway are attributed to light touch increasing proprioception, rather than through mechanical support. Purpose

Survivors of breast cancer (BC) on the non-dominant side have more persistent deficits than those with cancer on the dominant limb. What is not known is whether those with BC use their involved upper limbs more, less, or at the same level as women without BC. Accelerometer use offers a quantifiable method to measure activity levels of upper limbs. The purpose of this study was to quantify the activity levels of the non-dominant involved limb among survivors of BC and compare these values to their dominant limb, as well as the non-dominant limb of a control group.

The National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) reported approximately seven to eight people out of 100 will develop PTSD at some point in their lives and an estimated eight million adults will develop PTSD during a given year. It is also estimated between 55-60% of persons diagnosed with PTSD are diagnosed with a substance-use disorder (SUD). However, despite clinical guidelines that increasingly recommend the use of psychotherapies within the same treatment episode for clients with comorbid SUD/PTSD and client preferences for combined PTSD/SUD treatment, clinicians tend to overlook comorbid trauma and substance issues and/or are inclined to provide separate …
