Dry Needling And Hamstring Strains In Collegiate Baseball Players, Christ Clary
EXSI 432/532: Research Methods in Exercise Science: Research Proposal Posters
Hamstring strain injuries (HSIs) are extremely prevalent injuries in the collegiate baseball setting. HSIs require plentiful rest and rehabilitation to regain the normal functions of the injured leg meaning athletes will not be able to participate in competition. Time loss from sport has negative effects on the injured athlete and their team. For these reasons, it is important that athletes receive the best possible treatment to get them back on the field as quickly and safely as possible. Eccentric strength training has been shown to be the most effective rehabilitation and injury prevention measure for HSIs. Eccentric training is often …

The Decision Of Families And Hospice Nurses On Use Of Oxygen Therapy At End Of Life, Mary Gathoni, Janis Schiefelbein
The Decision Of Families And Hospice Nurses On Use Of Oxygen Therapy At End Of Life, Mary Gathoni, Janis Schiefelbein
Posters
Minimal research efforts have focused on why family members make the decision to use oxygen therapy for their loved one at end of life, and the thoughts of hospice nurses who recommend the use of oxygen. Many families and nurses believe the use of oxygen therapy in palliative care is a practice endorsed by the medical community. However, this is inconsistent with existing knowledge that oxygen use at end of life contributes to comfort and decreases breathlessness or dyspnea. Dyspnea, the sensation of breathlessness or inadequate breathing, is common for patients with end of life illnesses. Dyspnea occurs when an …

A Protocol Paper On The Preservation Of Identity: Understanding The Technology Adoption Patterns Of Older Adults With Age-Related Vision Loss (Arvl), Colleen E. Mcgrath
Occupational Therapy Publications
There are a growing number of older adults with age-related vision loss (ARVL) for whom technology holds promise in supporting their engagement in daily activities. Despite the growing presence of technologies intended to support older adults with ARVL, there remains high rates of abandonment. This phenomenon of technology abandonment may be partly explained by the concept of self-image, meaning that older adults with ARVL avoid the use of particular technologies due to an underlying fear that use of such technologies may mark them as objects of pity, ridicule, and/or stigmatization. In response to this, the proposed study aims to understand …
