Objective: Sensory processing issues can have a large negative impact on the ability to participate in daily occupations such as ADLs, access to work, school and leisure environments, and social interactions (Dunn, 2001). The evidence documenting sensory processing issues in adults is sparse. The purpose of this mini-ethnonursing research study was to discover, describe, and interpret culture care values, beliefs, expressions, practices and needs of Puerto Rican women receiving HIV care from nurse practitioners (NPs) and other providers in New York City. The emic, or insider, perspective of Puerto Rican women living with HIV was the focus of this study and Leininger’s Culture Care Theory (CCT) provided the theoretical framework. It is intended to achieve early identification of contacts who may have been exposed to a patient with infectious active TB and contacts who may benefit from treatment for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI). Introduction. Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) has become a meaningful area in research, medical management, and in the evaluation of health outcomes. However, in children with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), HRQOL is a long-neglected subject. Previous research in individuals with CAH typically focused on medical treatment and outcomes, which suggested that HRQOL is influenced by personal factors such as genital ambiguity, impaired growth, higher incidence of obesity, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, acute adrenal crisis, as well as losses in psychosexual milestones and psychological functioning. วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อศึกษาสถานการณ์การฝากครรภ์และปัจจัยที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับน้ำหนักของทารกแรกเกิด\n\nแบบแผนงานวิจัย: การศึกษาเชิงปริมาณแบบย้อนกลับ\n\nวิธีดำเนินงานวิจัย: กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ หญิงตั้งครรภ์เดี่ยวที่มาฝากครรภ์และคลอดที่โรงพยาบาลรัฐแห่งหนึ่ง ในเขตสุขภาพที่ 4 ระหว่างวันที่ 1 มิถุนายน 2559 - 31 พฤษภาคม 2560 จำนวน 344 รายจากแบบบันทึกผู้คลอด ข้อมูลที่ใช้ ได้แก่ ปัจจัยการฝากครรภ์ ปัจจัยผลการคัดกรองทางโลหิตวิทยาสำหรับหญิงตั้งครรภ์และน้ำหนักทารกแรกเกิด วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยสถิติการถดถอยโลจิสติกแบบกลุ่ม\n\nผลการวิจัย: อายุครรภ์เฉลี่ยที่มาฝากครรภ์ครั้งแรก คือ 17 สัปดาห์ 5 วัน และจำนวนครั้งที่มาฝากครรภ์เฉลี่ย 8.96 ครั้ง ตัวแปรที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับน้ำหนักทารกแรกเกิดน้ำหนักน้อย ได้แก่ การฝากครรภ์ครั้งแรก (OR= 1.002, 95% CI = 0.017-2.863) จำนวนครั้งของการฝากครรภ์ (OR = 0.717, 95% CI = 0.588-0.874) ผล Anti-HIV: positive (OR = 30.600, 95% CI = 1.359-698.523) และดัชนีมวลกาย (OR = 5.188, 95% CI = 1.719-15.640) ส่วนตัวแปรที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับทารกแรกเกิดน้ำหนักมาก ได้แก่ อายุ (OR = 22.872, 95% CI = 2.008-260.577)\n\nสรุป: ทีมสุขภาพควรให้ความสำคัญกับการฝากครรภ์ครั้งแรกและจำนวนครั้งของการฝากครรภ์ด้วยการดูแลที่มีคุณภาพ เพื่อให้การฝากครรภ์คุณภาพบรรลุเป้าหมาย

วัตถุประสงค์: ศึกษาผลของโปรแกรมการจัดการตนเองต่อสมรรถภาพปอดของผู้ป่วยโรคปอดอุดกั้นเรื้อรัง\n\nรูปแบบการวิจัย: เป็นการวิจัยกึ่งทดลอง\n\nวิธีดำเนินการวิจัย: กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ ผู้ป่วยโรคปอดอุดกั้นเรื้อรัง ทั้งชายและหญิง มีอายุระหว่าง 18-59 ปี ที่มารับบริการที่คลินิกโรคปอด โรงพยาบาลพระนครศรีอยุธยา จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา จำนวน 44 คน แบ่งเป็นกลุ่มควบคุม 22 คน และกลุ่มทดลอง 22 คน ได้รับการคัดเลือกแบบเฉพาะเจาะจง โดยการจับคู่ กลุ่มควบคุมและกลุ่มทดลอง ให้มีคุณสมบัติใกล้เคียงกันในเรื่อง เพศ อายุ ระดับความรุนแรงของโรค และชนิดของยาสูดพ่น กลุ่มทดลองได้รับโปรแกรมการจัดการตนเอง ส่วนกลุ่มควบคุมได้รับการพยาบาลตามปกติ ระยะเวลาในการศึกษา 6 สัปดาห์ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ โปรแกรมการจัดการตนเองสำหรับผู้ป่วยโรคปอดอุดกั้นเรื้อรัง ที่ผู้วิจัยพัฒนาขึ้นโดยประยุกต์ใช้แนวคิดการจัดการตนเองของ Creer (2000) และแบบประเมินการจัดการตนเองของผู้ป่วยโรคปอดอุดกั้นเรื้อรัง ค่าความตรงตามเนื้อหาได้เท่ากับ .95 และการวิเคราะห์ค่าความเที่ยงเท่ากับ .83 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูล โดยใช้ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการทดสอบค่าที\n\nผลการวิจัย: \n1. ค่าเฉลี่ยสมรรถภาพปอดของผู้ป่วยโรคปอดอุดกั้นเรื้อรังในกลุ่มทดลอง หลังได้รับโปรแกรมการจัดการตนเอง ดีกว่า ก่อนได้รับโปรแกรมการจัดการตนเอง อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05\n\n2. ค่าเฉลี่ยสมรรถภาพปอดของผู้ป่วยโรคปอดอุดกั้นเรื้อรังในกลุ่มที่ได้รับโปรแกรมการจัดการตนเอง ดีกว่า กลุ่มที่ได้รับการพยาบาลตามปกติ อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05\n\nสรุป: ผลการศึกษาครั้งนี้ สามารถนำไปใช้เป็นแนวทางในการดูแลผู้ป่วยโรคปอดอุดกั้นเรื้อรัง เพื่อให้มีการจัดการตนเองที่ดี ส่งผลให้สมรรถภาพปอดดีขึ้น

Oral contraceptives (OCs) are often prescribed to adolescents and young adults for the treatment of health problems and to avoid unwanted pregnancies. We hypothesized that the use of OCs, among adolescents and young adults, is associated with a greater likelihood of pregnancy, abortion, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), and sexual behaviors that will enhance those problems (i.e., earlier sexual debut and more sexual partners) than adolescents and young adults not using OCs. to perform the cross-cultural adaptation of the Readiness for Hospital Discharge Scale - (RHDS) Adult Form for use in Brazil.

Method:

a methodological study was conducted in 2015, in Brazil’s federal capital, following the eight stages scientifically established.

analysis proved the maintenance of semantic, idiomatic, cultural, and conceptual equivalences and kept both the face and content validity of the original version. The judging committee and the pre-test participants declared they understood the RHDS items and answer scale.

The aim of this study was to explore factors affecting the wellbeing of institutionalized orphaned children in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. A descriptive qualitative study was used to collect data from Tanzanian orphaned children receiving orphanage care. Purposive sampling was employed to select 10 orphanage centers from which 123 orphaned children were recruited. A semi-structured interview guide relevant to the study objectives was developed from the literature and was used to guide the focus group interviews. Data was analysed by way of thematic analysis. Background: The ubiquitous use of electronic health record (EHRs) during medical office visits using a computer monitor and keyboard can be distracting and disrupt patient-healthcare provider (HCP) non-verbal eye contact cues, which are integral to effective communication. Provider use of a remote medical scribe with face-mounted eyeglass technology, such as Google Glass (GG), may preserve patient-HCP communication in the healthcare setting by allowing providers to access other parts of the patient’s EHR (e.g. laboratory results, current medications, immunization records) all while maintaining direct eye contact with their patients. This project was designed to evaluate outcomes following implementation of routine screening for sepsis in the obstetric population. A retrospective analysis of the electronic medical record of 204 women who met sepsis criteria using obstetric-adjusted systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) criteria and a source of infection was the method used. Outcomes were evaluated for neonates born to the women who developed sepsis during labor. The incidence of sepsis was 0.401 per1,000 and included those with antepartum, intrapartum, or postpartum admissions. The setting was a tertiary center with 5,075 deliveries over the study period. University students have been assessed through many sexual health lenses, but there is a paucity of research on the sexual health of community college students. This population may provide good access to at-risk youth, and opportunity to reverse steep climbs in sexually transmitted infection (STI) rates. This research project pilot tests a theory-based intervention employing social facilitation to reduce STI risk among college students. Fifty students were recruited from Human Sexuality courses to participate in a 60-minute workshop. Background: Despite a shared link to cognitive processing of health information suggested by their definitions, information on the association between uncertainty and health literacy is scarce. Their relationship has not been studied in pancreatic cancer patients.

Aims: To evaluate uncertainty and health literacy in pancreatic cancer patients, examine their bivariate correlation, and determine significant predictors.
