This poster describes an educational intervention consisting of two classroom sessions to teach high school seniors how to successfully transition to adult care. Topics covered included the ability to fill out medical forms, when to contact one's doctor and where to get medical care when the doctor's office is closed, how health care privacy changes at age 18, the need for health insurance, the need to keep medical records, etc.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยกึ่งทดลอง มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลของโปรแกรมการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะแห่งตนร่วมกับการสนับสนุนของครอบครัวต่อกิจกรรมทางกายในผู้สูงอายุโรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจที่ได้รับการขยายหลอดเลือดหัวใจ กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ ผู้สูงอายุโรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจอายุ 60 ปีขึ้นไป ได้รับการรักษาด้วยการขยายหลอดเลือดหัวใจเป็นครั้งแรก ที่มารับบริการที่หอผู้ป่วยวิกฤตโรคหัวใจ โรงพยาบาลสมเด็จพระปิ่นเกล้า และหอผู้ป่วยหลังทำหัตถการหัวใจ โรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดี จำนวน 44 คน คัดเลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเฉพาะเจาะจง แบ่งเป็นกลุ่มทดลองและกลุ่มควบคุม กลุ่มละ 22 คน กลุ่มทดลองได้รับโปรแกรมการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะแห่งตนร่วมกับการสนับสนุนของครอบครัว กลุ่มควบคุมได้รับการพยาบาลตามปกติเป็นระยะเวลา 4 สัปดาห์ โดยจัดให้ทั้งสองกลุ่มมีความเท่าเทียมกันในเรื่องเพศ อายุ ระดับการศึกษา และตำแหน่งที่ใส่สายสวนขยายหลอดเลือดหัวใจ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการดำเนินการทดลอง คือ โปรแกรมการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะแห่งตนร่วมกับการสนับสนุนของครอบครัว เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล คือ แบบสัมภาษณ์ข้อมูลส่วนบุคคล และแบบสัมภาษณ์กิจกรรมทางกายในผู้สูงอายุ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้ค่าความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และสถิติการทดสอบที (t-test) ผลการวิจัยพบว่า คะแนนเฉลี่ยกิจกรรมทางกายของกลุ่มทดลองสูงกว่ากลุ่มควบคุม อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05

การวิจัยครั้งนี้ศึกษาปัจจัยที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับการยอมรับความตายของผู้ป่วยมะเร็งระยะลุกลาม ได้แก่ ความวิตกกังวลเกี่ยวกับความตาย ความเชื่อทางศาสนาพุทธเกี่ยวกับความตาย ภาระที่ค้างคา การรับรู้ความสามารถของตนเอง และสัมพันธภาพของบุคคลในครอบครัว กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ ผู้ป่วยมะเร็งระยะลุกลามวัยผู้ใหญ่ที่เข้ารับบริการในแผนกผู้ป่วยนอกโรคมะเร็งของโรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ สภากาชาดไทย คณะแพทยศาสตร์โรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดี มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล และสถาบันมะเร็งแห่งชาติ จำนวน 212 ราย คัดเลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบสะดวกตามคุณสมบัติที่กำหนด เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวมรวมข้อมูล ประกอบด้วย แบบสอบถามข้อมูลส่วนบุคคล แบบสอบถามความวิตกกังวลเกี่ยวกับความตาย แบบสอบถามความเชื่อทางศาสนาเกี่ยวกับความตาย แบบสอบถามภาระที่ค้างคา แบบสอบถามการรับรู้ในความสามารถของตนเอง แบบสอบถามสัมพันธภาพของบุคคลในครอบครัว และแบบสอบถามการยอมรับความตาย ซึ่งได้รับการตรวจสอบความตรงตามเนื้อหาจากผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ และตรวจสอบความเที่ยงได้ค่าสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟาของครอนบาค เท่ากับ .86, .72, .74, .74, .89 และ .70 ตามลำดับ สถิติที่ใช้วิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ สถิติเชิงบรรยาย และค่าสัมประสิทธ์ของเพียร์สัน ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ดังนี้ คือ 1. ผู้ป่วยมะเร็งระยะลุกลามมีการยอมรับความตายในระดับสูง ค่าเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ31.37 และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐานเท่ากับ 3.47 2. ความวิตกกังวลเกี่ยวกับความตาย ภาระที่ค้างคามีความสัมพันธ์ทางลบในระดับปานกลางกับการยอมรับความตายอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 (r = -.61, r= -.39) ตามลำดับ 3. ความเชื่อทางศาสนาพุทธเกี่ยวกับความตายและการรับรู้ความสามารถของตนเองมีความสัมพันธ์ทางบวกในระดับปานกลางกับการยอมรับความตายอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 (r = .41, r =.38) ตามลำดับ และสัมพันธภาพของบุคคลในครอบครัวมีความสัมพันธ์ทางบวกในระดับต่ำกับการยอมรับความตายอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 (r =.20)

Background: Critical care nurses (CCNs) frequently provide end-of-life (EOL) care for critically ill patients. Critical care nurses may face many obstacles while trying to provide quality EOL care. Some research focusing on obstacles CCNs face while trying to provide quality EOL care has been published; however, research focusing on family behavior obstacles is limited. Research focusing on family behavior as an EOL care obstacle may provide additional insight and improvement in care.

Background: Ireland has recently enacted the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015. The enactment of the legislation has allowed Ireland to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (2008). The convention obliges all member states to assist people with disabilities to make their own decisions, with their will and preference taking precedence over what others deem to be in their best interests. Implementation of this legislation requires a change in working practice among health and social care providers to promote autonomy and decision-making among service users. The care of preterm infants is associated with stress. In the busy neonatal unit where highly skilled healthcare workers are always present, parents have reported being stressed when caring for their preterm infants in the neonatal unit. In Ghana, preterm birth is the highest cause of neonatal mortality with 70% of these morbidities and mortalities occurring in the community. This project aimed to implement a nonpharmacologic delirium prevention protocol in a rural critical access hospital by increasing nursing confidence and knowledge with delirium. Research indicated delirium prevention was the cornerstone of management. The interventions proven beneficial in delirium prevention included: clinical staff education, bowel and bladder management, early removal of patient tethers, adequate nutrition and hydration, environmental cues and reorientation, sleep hygiene, music therapy, active family involvement, ensuring sensory aides were present in the hospital setting, and routine/interval screening for delirium using the Confusion Assessment Method (CAM) (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, 2014; Siddiqi et al., 2016). …

Background: In Africa, the clinical syndrome of pneumonia remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in children in the post-neonatal period. This represents a significant burden on in-patient services. Nurses play a central role in preparing patients for discharge. Diabetes affects one-third of all hospitalized patients, with readmission rates 20% higher for patients with diabetes. Low health literacy affects patients' ability to understand education provided during a hospitalization, especially in diabetic patients who are required to perform complex self-care activities. The purpose of this qualitative ethnographic study was to explore cultural health perceptions, behaviors, and barriers to cervical cancer prevention among Korean immigrant women (KIW) in Hawaii. The health belief model and the social-ecological model were used to guide the study. The purpose of this quality-improvement project was to increase acute care staff members' knowledge and confidence in using tobacco cessation interventions to increase quit rates among the inpatients of a veterans' hospital in the midwestern region of the United States.
