Background/Purpose:The purpose of this paper is to critically analyze the literature in order to determine whether or not cognitive behavioral therapy is an effective intervention in the prevention and/or treatment of postpartum depression. Theoretical Framework: The theoretical framework used for this paper was Cheryl Tantano Beck’s theory, Teetering on the Edge: A Substantive Theory of Postpartum Depression. Beck’s theory was phenomenological study of the lived experiences of women suffering from postpartum depression. Family Presence During Resuscitation (FPDR) remains controversial and is not consistently implemented during resuscitation events or invasive procedures. Evidence has demonstrated positive outcomes produced by implementation of FPDR; such as, decreased rates of post-traumatic stress symptoms, decreased symptoms of anxiety, and depressive symptoms were not significantly different. Unfortunately, use of FPDR in the acute care setting is not widely accepted or readily implemented. Objective

A paucity of corroborative psychological and psychiatric evidence may be inhibiting detec- tion of drug intoxication suicides in the United States. We evaluated the relative importance of suicide notes and psychiatric history in the classification of suicide by drug intoxication versus firearm (gunshot wound) plus hanging/suffocation—the other two major, but overtly violent methods.

Methods

This observational multilevel (individual/county), multivariable study employed a general- ized linear mixed model (GLMM) to analyze pooled suicides and undetermined intent deaths, as possible suicides, among the population aged 15 years and older in the 17 states participating in the National Violent Death Reporting System …

Problem Description: Patients of one internal medicine clinic were found to have nearly twice the rate of diagnosed diabetes and poor glycemic control, when compared with national rates. Given this, certain aspects of the patient-provider dyad system, such as inadequate provider time, knowledge, and resources; may have contributed to the ability of some patients to adapt to a lifestyle with consistent diabetes self-care.

A 134 bed hospital in a rural community had a continuous struggle to meet defined goals on the hospital consumer assessment of healthcare providers and systems survey (HCAHPS). The hospital’s medical unit consistently performed lower in the communication with nurses HCAHPS domain than other nursing departments in the organizations. Between 2015 and 2017 the overall communication with nurse’s score in the HCAHPS domain of the medical unit ranged between 74-79%. This Doctor of Nursing Practice Project examined the effect of an evidence-based staff development education program on the attitudes and knowledge levels of nursing staff regarding the mentally ill adolescent patient population, for which they provide treatment and supervision. A convenience sample of 61 nursing staff members participated in the Improving Therapeutic Relationships among Psychiatric Nursing Staff and Patients project, with 74% of the available sample completing all project surveys.
