The project identified factors affecting implementation of evidence-based non-invasive screening tests to identify early stage cardiovascular disease (CVD). The use of coronary artery calcium scores and carotid intima media thickness testing improves accuracy of risk stratification over risk factor scoring systems alone. The purpose of this project was to identify NP’s perceived barriers to and facilitators of utilization of evidence-based non-invasive CVD screening tests and to make recommendations for improvements in implementation. Global warming causes a faster increase of night temperature than of day temperature in tropical and subtropical zones. Little is known about the effect of high night temperature on storage lipids and transcriptome changes in oilseed rape. This study compared the total fatty acids and fatty acid compositions in seeds of two oilseed rape cultivars between high and low night temperatures. Their transcriptome profiles were also analyzed. High night temperature significantly affected the total fatty acids and fatty acid compositions in seeds of both low and high oil content cultivars, namely Jiuer-13 and Zheyou-50, thereby resulting in 18.9% and 13.7% …

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assist organizations seeking to develop or improve their medical disaster relief effort by identifying fundamental elements and processes that permeate high-quality, international, medical disaster relief organizations and the teams they deploy.

Methods: A qualitative descriptive design was used. Data were gathered from interviews with key personnel at five international medical response organizations, as well as during field observations conducted at multiple sites in Jordan and Greece, including three refugee camps. Data were then reviewed by the research team and coded to identify patterns, categories, and themes.

The addition of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) on the trauma service at night was examined to see if it has positively impacted healthcare utilization and satisfaction in trauma patients. This four-month evidence-based, quasi-experimental project took place on the Trauma Medical Surgical Unit (TMSU) at a level II trauma center in California. Retrospective analysis of medical records and Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) satisfaction surveys were performed for those trauma patients located on the TMSU 60-days prior to NPs starting at night and 60-days after. Background and Objective: Until 2010 newborns at most community-based hospitals were subjected to their initial bath within two hours of birth. However, this practice has recently changed due to the evidence-based recommendations that demonstrate improved outcomes for neonates when the first bath is delayed for 12-24 hours after birth. Upon delivery, infants are placed skin-to-skin with their parents to promote thermoregulation, breast feeding and bonding. Foster care adolescents have a more difficult time transitioning to adulthood, compared to non-foster care peers, due to the maltreatment and uprooting they often experience prior to entering the foster care system.
