• Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the most common benign urological disease in men. 1
• Moderate-to-severe lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) from BPH affect 30% of men over 502 and medical treatment often fails for men with moderate-to-severe symptoms, leading them to seek surgical options. 3
• Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) remains the gold standard for prostates less than 80 mL; simple prostatectomy (SP) remains the standard for larger prostates.
• Aquablation (Aqua) is a novel BPH procedure that may be used for both small and large prostates from 50 to 150 mL. 4

- Nocturia, defined as waking up during the night to void, is a prevalent condition affecting a considerable proportion of the population.
- Many studies have demonstrated that nocturia is associated with poor quality of life and numerous adverse health outcomes 1,2,3,4.
- Patients with nocturia are estimated to have 60% greater hospitalization rates and 19% higher rates of outpatient visits, equating to an annual economic cost of $3,491 per patient 5.
- Although pre-existing studies have not consistently aligned on the association between nocturia and specific comorbidities, the overall agreement on the negative health outcomes and economic strain caused by untreated nocturia remains …

Sacral neuromodulation (SN) and intradetrusor botulinum toxin (BTX) are effective treatments for refractory overactive bladder (OAB) and urge incontinence (UI).1 The decision on which treatment to use is based on several factors. Urodynamics (UDS) have not been proven to determine who will respond to SN. Detrusor overactivity (DO) suggests that BTX may be more effective, given its direct role on muscle. The purpose of this study is to determine if presence and severity of DO on UDS is associated with failure of SN and response to BTX.

Radiation cystitis (RC) is a debilitating adverse side effect of pelvic radiation therapy. Despite advancements within the field of radiation oncology, the location of the bladder makes it difficult to avoid during radiation and approximately 5-10% of cancer survivors with a history of pelvic radiation are at risk. While RC is not common, the long-term effects can be crippling and we hope to provide more information on the risk factors to help survivors and inform clinicians.

Placing ureteral stents at the ureteroileal anastomosis for radical cystectomy with ileal conduit (RCIC) diversion has long been common practice, which has recently been called into question. In this study, we aim to investigate the difference in 30-day outcomes between patients who did and did not receive ureteral stents after RCIC.

INTRODUCTION
Research suggests that narcotic pain medications are dramatically overprescribed. We hypothesize that narcotics are unnecessary in the majority of infants for postoperative pain control. In this series, we report our experience combining caudal blocks with a non-narcotic postoperative pathway as a means of completely eliminating postoperative narcotics following infant robotic pyeloplasty.

Corpus Cavernosum Abscess Secondary To Traumatic Perforation Of Urethral Diverticulum, Thomas C. Gore, Anna Schepcoff, Domenick Sorresso
West Florida Division GME Research Day 2020
A corpus cavernosum abscess is a rare condition. Usual etiologies include penile injection of erectile dysfunction medications or illicit drugs, priapism, sexually transmitted infections, and trauma; however, there have been reported cases of idiopathic etiology. The most common causative organisms include Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococci, and Bacteroides [1]. Diagnosis is typically made clinically and through imaging (computed tomography [CT] and ultrasound). The first-line treatment is the use of intravenous (IV) antibiotics and surgical drainage. More conservative treatment, however, includes aspiration in conjunction with IV antibiotics [2-3]. Urethral diverticulum (UD) is the formation of a saccular outpouching of the urethral lumen. Symptoms …

Introduction
- Radical cystectomy with urinary diversion (C&D) is performed for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) or refractory carcinoma in situ (CIS)
- C&D patients receive one of several types of diversion depending on their age, comorbidities, functional status, and extent of disease (Figure 1)
- Post-operative length of stay (LOS) can be prolonged (9-11 days) and 30 day readmission rates and mortality elevated (30% and 1.5%); return of bowel function usually the rate-limiting step to discharge
- Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols utilize pre-, intra-, and postoperative elements in order to improve return of bowel function and decrease LOS
- Alvimopan is …

Goal
Our goal is to develop evidence-based guidelines that:
- streamline the order/timing of interventions in patients who develop PUR after spine surgery
- identify those at high-risk of long-term urinary retention that require further workup
- minimize the rate of PUR –goal is to reduce to 3.5% in FY 2019
- and determine the cost savings from our intervention when applied to all surgeries

Purpose: Single-use flexible ureteroscopes offer the advantage of being consistently functional and perfect for immediate clinical use right “out of the box.” Cost is the barrier to widespread acceptance of these instruments. Economic models have been put forth which compare the expense of acquiring and maintaining reusable flexible ureteroscopes to that of using single-use flexible ureteroscopes. However, one poorly defined variable in these models is the frequency of encountering an unsuitable reusable flexible ureteroscope at the beginning of a case. We sought to define this in a consecutive series of patients undergoing flexible ureteroscopy.

• Prostate cancer and metabolic syndrome are both prevalent among men in developed countries with peak incidence after age 50.
• Prostate cancer has no known modifiable risk factors.
• Most risk factors for metabolic syndrome are modifiable.
• If metabolic syndrome is identified as contributing to the risk of prostate cancer it would give an element of self determination to men at risk for prostate cancer.
• Past studies provide conflicting results in the correlation between these two conditions.
• A literature review was performed to evaluate consistencies in current literature.
• Metabolic syndrome or its components do not …

Background:
The purpose of this study is to review the efficacy of Target Specific Oral Anticoagulants (TSOAC) versus vitamin K antagonist (VKA) for post-surgical anticoagulation in patient with primary subclavian vein thrombosis. Rivaroxaban, a factor Xa inhibitor, was the first TSOAC approved by the FDA in 2012 for the treatment and prevention of deep vein thrombosis. However, the efficacy and safety of TSOAC for prevention of recurrent deep vein thrombosis after revascularization of upper extremity compression syndromes is largely unknown.
