BACKGROUND: Vaccination of pregnant patients with tetanus toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) and influenza vaccine during influenza season can reduce maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality; nevertheless, vaccination rates remain suboptimal in this patient population. To investigate the effect of a brief educational counseling session on maternal Tdap and influenza vaccination and determine factors influencing women's decision in regards to receiving Tdap and or influenza vaccine during their pregnancy.

Introduction: Despite advancements in molecular and histopathologic characterization of pediatric low-grade gliomas (pLGGs), there remains significant phenotypic heterogeneity among tumors with similar categorizations. We hypothesized that an unsupervised machine learning approach based on radiomic features may reveal distinct pLGG imaging subtypes.

Methods: Multi-parametric MR images (T1 pre- and post-contrast, T2, and T2 FLAIR) from 157 patients with pLGGs were collected and 881 quantitative radiomic features were extracted from tumorous region. Clustering was performed using K-means after applying principal component analysis (PCA) for feature dimensionality reduction. Based on its effectiveness, a percutaneous breast biopsy was chosen because it has minimum side effects and fewer complications, does not distort the breast tissue architecture, and can be performed on an outpatient basis. However, the biopsy can damage the integrity of tumor cells, creating seeding at the site of the track made. Meanwhile, the estrogen receptor plays a role in determining further treatment plans in breast cancer patients. Patients with high estrogen receptors have a better prognosis. If the premenopausal estrogen hormone can affect the estrogen-receptor, then the estrogen hormone can be modified to have a better prognosis.

Objective

To compare our experience with pedicle screw insertion of the thoracolumbar spine utilizing the Cirq robot assistance device compared with traditional paradigm using fluoroscopy.

Methods

We prospectively collected data of patients undergoing pedicle screw instrumentation in the thoracolumbar spine performed by a single surgeon at three different centers. One center took delivery of the Cirq robotic assistance device. Remaining two centers used C-arm fluoroscopy. Demographic information, diagnosis, total OR time, intraoperative complications, unexpected return to the operating room, and hospital readmissions within 90 days was compared between the two cohorts.

This randomized, open-label trial compared the efficacy and safety of adjuvant nab-paclitaxel + gemcitabine with those of gemcitabine for resected pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT01964430). METHODS

Its structure, similar to some polyaminopyrimidines and mitochondrial-targeting peptoids, has been linked with mitochondrial localization and targeting. Over the past two decades, increasing evidence has emerged showing pyrvinium to be a strong anti-cancer molecule in various human cancers in vitro and in vivo. Background: Most tumour response scoring systems for resected pancreatic cancer after neoadjuvant therapy score tumour regression. BACKGROUND: Although perioperative prophylactic glucocorticoids have been used for decades, whether they improve outcomes in infants after heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass is unknown.

METHODS: We conducted a multicenter, prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled, registry-based trial involving infants (age) undergoing heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass at 24 sites participating in the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Congenital Heart Surgery Database. Pain is a costly result of total joint replacement (TJR) surgery. The effect of pain can extend not only to chronic medical problems for patients but also to the hospital’s bottom line by decreasing patient satisfaction. A systematic literature search was performed, and evidence was appraised that supported the efficacy of a standardized multimodal pain management protocol to decrease pain and improve satisfaction in TJR patients. Spontaneous isolated celiac artery dissection (SICAD) is a rare condition, defined as dissection of the celiac artery without aortic involvement. Because of its low prevalence, most studies have been limited to case reports and case series. We have described the case of a 44-year-old woman who had presented with symptomatic SICAD that had resulted in compromised flow to the hepatic arteries and was successfully treated with balloon angioplasty. Angioplasty alone might be effective for cases of extensive false lumen thrombosis in SICAD for immediate flow restoration to the true lumen, expediting positive remodeling.

The approach utilized a systematic review of the medical literature executed with specifically designed criteria that focused on the etiologies and pathogenesis of hypoparathyroidism. Enhanced attention by endocrine surgeons to new knowledge about parathyroid gland viability are reviewed along with the role of intraoperative parathyroid hormone (ioPTH) monitoring during and after neck surgery. Nonsurgical etiologies account for a significant proportion of cases of hypoparathyroidism (~25%), and among them, genetic etiologies are key. Given the pervasive nature of PTH deficiency across multiple organ systems, a detailed review of the skeletal, renal, neuromuscular, and ocular complications is provided. The burden of illness …

OBJECTIVE: The American College of Surgeons (ACS) u pdated its guidelines on overlapping surgery in 2016. The objective was to examine differences in postoperative outcomes after overlapping surgery either pre-ACS guide-line revision or post-guideline revision, in a coarsened exact matching sample. -METHODS: A total of 3327 consecutive adult patients u ndergoing single-level posterior lumbar fusion from 2013 to 2019 were retrospectively analyzed.
