Testicular adenomatoid tumor is a rare benign condition that can resemble testicular malignancies in its clinical presentation, potentially leading to overtreatment, such as radical orchidectomy. In our two case reports, we aim to better understand the behavior of this disease by examining its clinical presentation, as well as radiological, intraoperative, and pathological findings.

Background

Testicular seminoma is the most common malignant tumor of the testis. It occurs at a rate of 5 per 100 000 men, primarily between the ages of 15 to 34. While seminomas typically occur in the testis, other primary sites include the mediastinum, the retroperitoneum, or other extra-gonadal sites. Due to the curable nature of the malignancy (5-year survival rate > 95%), detection at early stages of the disease is key. This case presentation explores the delayed diagnosis and treatments of an atypical presentation of disseminated seminoma.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer related mortality in the United States, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) being the most prevalent type. For early-stage NSCLC, lung resection with anatomic lobectomy remains the standard of care. While in theory antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) deliver high-dose chemotherapy directly to target cells, numerous side effects are observed in clinical practice. We sought to determine the effect of linker design (cleavable versus non-cleavable), drug-to-antibody ratio (DAR), and free payload concentration on systemic toxicity. Two systematic reviews were performed via PubMed search of clinical trials published between January 1998—July 2022. Background/objectives: RAS mutations are common in thyroid cancer, but their impact on clinical outcomes remains controversial. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of RAS mutations in thyroid cancer and their association with various clinical and pathological features. Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies reporting on RAS mutations in thyroid cancer. Both one-arm and pairwise meta-analyses were performed to compare outcomes between RAS-mutated (RAS+) and wild-type (RAS-) thyroid cancers. Background: Thermal and chemical ablation techniques may consolidate recurrent metastatic cervical lymph nodes as alternatives to repeat neck dissection in thyroid cancer patients. This meta-analysis aims to compare the efficacy and safety across modalities. Methods: Four databases were searched for studies on radiofrequency (RFA), microwave (MWA), laser (LA), and ethanol ablation (EA) treating metastatic cervical nodes from thyroid cancer. Previous research has shown improved cancer screening in cases of patient navigator assistance to limited English proficient patients, but no research has analyzed the relationship between language isolation and cancer incidence rates in the United States. Background: Central nervous system (CNS) tumors are the second most frequent type of neoplasm in childhood and adolescence, after leukemia. Despite the incorporation of molecular classification and improvement of protocols combining chemotherapy, surgery, and radiotherapy, CNS tumors are still the most lethal neoplasm in this age group. Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) is a powerful tool to map the distribution of molecular species in tissue sections. Among MSI techniques, desorption electrospray ionization (DESI-MSI) has been demonstrated to enable reliable agreement with the pathological evaluation of different adult cancer types, along with an acceptable time scale for intraoperative use.

We aimed to assess the changes in renal and hematological function and associations with survival in neuroendocrine tumor (NET) patients treated with PRRT. BACKGROUND: Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), cancer stem cells (CSCs), and colorectal cancer (CRC) therapy resistance are closely associated. Prior reports have demonstrated that sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) supports stem cells and maintains the CSC phenotype. We hypothesized that the EMT inducer SNAI1 drives S1P signaling to amplify CSC self-renewal capacity and chemoresistance.

Goldspire™ is a personalized immunotherapy platform that combines whole tumor-derived cells with antisense oligonucleotide (IMV-001) against Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1 Receptor (IGF-1R) in biodiffusion chambers (BDCs; 0.1 μm pore). BDCs are exposed to 5-6 Gy and implanted at abdominal sites for ∼48 h to deliver an antigenic payload and immunostimulatory factors to train the immune system. Clinical trials of active surveillance (AS) for Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS) are underway. We sought to understand the historical management of biologically favorable DCIS and to determine the outcomes of patients who did not have immediate surgery. Using data from the NCDB from 2004 to 2017, the selected cohort included women >40 years of age, with low or intermediate grade and hormone receptor (HR) positive DCIS. Neoadjuvant therapy (NAT) has become routine in patients with borderline resectable pancreatic cancer. Pathologists examine pancreatic cancer resection specimens to evaluate the effect of NAT. However, an automated scoring system to objectively quantify residual pancreatic cancer (RPC) is currently lacking. Herein, we developed and validated the first automated segmentation model using artificial intelligence techniques to objectively quantify RPC. Digitized histopathological tissue slides were included from resected pancreatic cancer specimens from 14 centers in 7 countries in Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia. Background: Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is performed less often for older patients with melanoma. We investigated the association of SLNB and melanoma-specific survival (MSS) in the elderly. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER: 2010–2019) for patients ≥ 70 years with cT2-4N0M0 melanoma. We used multivariable Cox proportional hazard models to evaluate the impact of SLNB performance and SLN status on MSS at increasing age cutoffs. In addition, we evaluated the association of different factors with SLNB performance using multivariable logistic regression. Results: We identified 11,548 patients.
