Chronic expanding hematoma (CEH) is a rare entity that poses diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to persistent growth, risk of recurrence, and potential for blood loss anemia. The most common etiologies of CEH are trauma or surgery. It is thought to occur due to irritant effects of blood breakdown products, causing bleeding from capillaries in chronic granulation tissue. Aim: To examine the clinical accuracy and applicability of ChatGPT answers to commonly asked questions from patients considering posterior lumbar decompression (PLD). Methods: A literature review was conducted to identify 10 questions that encompass some of the most common questions and concerns patients may have regarding lumbar decompression surgery. The selected questions were then posed to ChatGPT. Initial responses were then recorded, and no follow-up or clarifying questions were permitted. Endoscopic biliary stenting is a well-established intervention for the treatment of biliary, hepatic, and pancreatic disorders. The common indications include strictures, neoplasms, stones, infections, and bile leaks. Stents can be occluded, predisposing patients to ascending cholangitis and biliary sepsis. Distal stent migration is another known complication of endoscopic stenting and is usually spontaneous. Bowel perforation, abscesses, bleeding, and pancreatitis are rare complications of distal stent migration and are usually limited to the duodenum. Herein, we describe an extremely rare case of bilio-cecal stent migration presenting as rectal bleeding.

Dysphagia lusoria occurs due to compression of the esophagus as an aberrant right subclavian artery (ARSA) crosses the mediastinum. Surgical management includes open, hybrid, and endovascular techniques, with no consensus gold standard. There are few reports of robotic-assisted ARSA resection. We describe the innovative technique and outcomes for two patients who successfully underwent robotic-assisted transthoracic resection of an ARSA after right carotid–subclavian bypass for dysphagia lusoria. Both patients experienced improvement or resolution of their dysphagia and no major complications. In select patients with a noncalcified origin of the ARSA without aneurysmal degeneration, the robotic-assisted approach represents a viable option.

We present a case of a symptomatic, giant, left upper back arteriovenous malformation that was treated through a staged endovascular and open approach. Through a series of embolizations, followed by resection, we were able to preserve the limb and upper back neurovascular supply, demonstrating an approach to preserve sensation and function and improving quality of life.

Successful thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) for type B aortic dissections (TBAD) relies on securing the stentgraft’s distal landing zone to prevent retrograde flow and false lumen pressurization. We describe a 60-year- old male with a TBAD undergoing TEVAR with electrocautery-wire fenestration of the dissection septum, providing a controlled method to enhance the distal landing zone for graft placement. Postoperatively, the patient experienced spinal cord ischemia, resolving with the placement of a lumbar drain and increasing mean arterial pressures. While uterine leiomyomas remain a common occurrence affecting nearly 30% of adult women above 35yo, leiomyomas can arise anywhere smooth muscle cells are located in the body. Vulvar leiomyomas are a particularly rare diagnosis, often misdiagnosed as Bartholin gland cyst, comprising 0.07% of vulvar tumors, and thought to arise from smooth muscle within the round ligament, erectile tissue, and dartos muscle. Even more rare is the presentation of vulvar leiomyoma in the adolescent population and family history of vulvar leiomyoma.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between perceived emotional intelligence and the reported use of cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression. We also investigated the possible effects of age on the aforementioned variables. The total sample consisted of 379 people (158 men, 220 women, 1 unreported). Ewing Sarcoma (EWS) rarely presents in the bones of the foot, and particularly in the cuboid, making it an exceedingly rare occurrence. We present the case of a 7-year-old female diagnosed with EWS of the right cuboid, detailing the management and outcomes of this rare presentation. The patient, now almost 5 years post-initial local control, exhibits restored foot function, a normalized gait, and no evidence of disease recurrence. This case underscores the potential for preserving lower extremity function and improving postoperative quality of life in rare presentations of EWS through innovative reconstruction strategies.

Reported is a case of a 24-year-old male who presented with left shoulder pain and decreased range of motion of the same shoulder upon awakening, diagnosed with a posterior dislocation of the proximal clavicle, with the clavicular head residing in the mediastinum. In the conscious, ambulatory, young adult it is arguably much more common for major bony trauma involving the upper extremity and shoulder to present with pain, deformity, and a known mechanism. This is an example that lacks all three of these characteristics and highlights the importance of details in the physical examination as well as clinical gestalt.
