Paediatric Pseudo Papillary Pancreatic Tumour: A Case Based Review, Mir Ibrahim Sajid, Ayesha Saleem, Muhammad Arshad

Medical College Documents

Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms are rare and represent approximately 4% of all cystic pancreatic tumours, and predominately affect females. They have an excellent prognosis, however 10-15% of the patients show metastasis at the time of surgery or recurrence of tumour during follow-up after pancreatectomy. Surgical resection is the recommended treatment. We present a rare case of a 15-year-old female, with a pseudopapillary tumour of the pancreas which was diagnosed pre-operatively.

Validity And Acceptability Of The Kiswahili-Paediatric Gait, Arms, Legs And Spine (Pgals) Screening Tool At A Tertiary Referral Hospital In Kenya, Jacqueline Evarist Kawishe

Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child Health

Background: A common reason implicated in the severity of presentation and mortality resulting from rheumatic conditions among children is the delayed presentation to a paediatric rheumatologist. Evidence suggests low-quality paediatric musculoskeletal clinical skills could be a cause for diagnostic delay and history suggestive of musculoskeletal disease alone has poor sensitivity in detecting paediatric rheumatic conditions. The paediatric gait, arms, legs, and spine (pGALS) musculoskeletal screening tool was developed to encourage early detection of paediatric rheumatic conditions. It has been validated and translated successfully in other countries. Kiswahili serves as a national language in several East African countries. Translating and validating …

Background: The gold standard screening method of hyperoxaluria in children is using 24-hour urine collection. Urine collection may be cumbersome and challenging for children. Reference intervals (RI) of oxalate for the Pakistani population are not readily available. Therefore we aimed to determine the oxalate to creatinine ratio (Ox: Cr) for Pakistani children <6 years of age.
Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at Aga Khan University from June 2018 to October 2019. Random urine samples from apparently healthy children < 6 years were collected and stored at -30°C until analysis after adding 6M HCl. Oxalate was measured on Micro lab 300 using a kit based on oxalate oxidase principle, while creatinine was measured by kinetic Jaffe reaction. Data was analyzed by EP evaluator and SPSS 23. Ox: Cr ratio was calculated and reported with 90% confidence interval (CI) and interquartile range (IQR).
Results: The mean age of study subjects (n=120) was 29 ±22.3 months with an M: F ratio of 1:1. Children of various ethnicities …
