Background: Seroprevalence studies are an alternative approach to estimating the extent of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and the evolution of the pandemic in different geographical settings. Differences in the cervicovaginal microbiota are associated with spontaneous preterm birth (sPTB), a significant cause of infant morbidity and mortality. Although establishing a direct causal link between cervicovaginal microbiota and sPTB remains challenging, recent advancements in sequencing technologies have facilitated the identification of microbial markers potentially linked to sPTB. Despite variations in findings, a recurring observation suggests that sPTB is associated with a more diverse and less stable vaginal microbiota across pregnancy trimesters. They were first characterized by Johannes Muller in 1838 and most often present in the 5th decade of life. Background: Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) syndrome is a disease process that typically occurs from ruptured appendiceal mucocele neoplasms. PMP syndrome arising from malignant transformation of an ovarian primary mature cystic teratoma (MCT) is a pathogenesis rarely encountered.

Case presentation: Herein, we report a 28-year-old patient evaluated and treated for a right ovarian mass and large volume symptomatic abdominopelvic mucinous ascites. The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of clinically actionable treatment-relevant germline pharmacogenomic variants in patients with cancer and assess the real-world clinical utility of universal screening using whole-exome sequencing in this population. Cancer patients underwent research-grade germline whole-exome sequencing as a component of sequencing for somatic variants. Analysis in a clinical bioinformatics pipeline identified clinically actionable pharmacogenomic variants. Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium guidelines defined clinical actionability. The majority of women are disproportionately diagnosed at an advanced stage (stage III-IV) of the disease when tumours have progressed beyond the ovaries or fallopian tubes and into the peritoneal cavity. Survival rates at late-stage are as low as 25% and chemoresistant disease recurrence is common, affecting up to 90% of patients. OBJECTIVE: DACH1 is a transcriptional repressor and tumor suppressor gene frequently mutated in melanoma, bladder, and prostate cancer. Loss of DACH1 expression is associated with poor prognostic features and reduced overall survival in uterine cancer. In this study, we utilized the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN) Avatar database to determine the frequency of DACH1 mutations in patients with endometrial cancer in our Kentucky population.

HIV-positive women are infected with human papillomavirus (HPV) (especially with multiple types), and develop cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and cervical cancer more frequently than HIV-negative women. We compared HPV DNA prevalence obtained using a GP5+/6+ PCR assay in cervical exfoliated cells to that in biopsies among 468 HIV-positive women from Nairobi, Kenya. HPV prevalence was higher in cells than biopsies and the difference was greatest in 94 women with a combination normal cytology/normal biopsy (prevalence ratio, PR = 3.7; 95% confidence interval, CI: 2.4-5.7). Background: We assessed the association of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) with various characteristics, CD4 count and use of combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) among HIV-positive women.

Methods: Cross-sectional study of 498 HIV-positive women who underwent HPV PCR-based testing, cytology, and systematic cervical biopsy.

Results: In all, 68.7% of women were HPV-positive, 52.6% had high-risk (hr) HPV, and 40.2% multiple type infections. High-risk human papillomavirus-positivity did not vary significantly by age but it was negatively associated with education level. Clinical History: A 19-week male fetus of a 36-year old G7P4 mother was found by ultrasound to have intrabdominal "cysts" and oligo-anhydramnios. At 15 weeks of pregnancy, by ultrasound examination, two intraabdominal cysts measuring 1.1x0.7x0.4 cm and 1.4x1.0x1.0 cm were noted. At 19 week gestation, the ultrasound was performed again showing anhydromaio, ascites, a normal appearing bladder, and multiple cystic structures in the abdomen most likely consistent with dilation of bowel (Figure 1A, B). Ovarian pregnancy is a rare variant of ectopic gestation.The diagnosis is often made at surgery and requires histological confirmation. The condition has not been reported locally and its diagnosis is easily missed. A case of an ovarian ectopic pregnancy in a 41year old para 1+ 1with secondary infertility is reported. The patient presented with lower abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding at six weeks gestation with a semm B-hCG of 79.12mlU/L. An ultrasound showed a complex left adnexal mass. She underwent a diagnostic and operative laparoscopy. A left oophorectomy was performed due to difficulty in achieving haemostasis.

Objective: The aim of the study was to examine the usage of multi colour FISH technology as an adjunct to conventional cytogenetics for the prenatal diagnosis of aneuploidy in interphase nuclei from high risk pregnancies.
Methods: Amniotic fluid samples were collected for interphase FISH analysis using DNA probes for chromosomes 13, 18, 21, X and Y. All the probes were directly labeled with fluorescent molecules. Fluorescent signals were observed under a microscope. A minimum of 100 nuclei with defined hybridization signals were counted for each probe.
