BACKGROUND: The Evolut Low Risk trial demonstrated that transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) was noninferior to surgery for the primary endpoint of all-cause mortality or disabling stroke at 2 years. Outcomes at 5 years have not been reported.

OBJECTIVES: This study sought to evaluate 5-year clinical and hemodynamic outcomes with TAVR vs surgery in patients from the Evolut Low Risk trial.

BACKGROUND: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a relatively common inherited disorder that may be asymptomatic. It is a common cause of sudden cardiac death and can lead to catastrophic cardiovascular collapse in the operating room if previously undiagnosed. This case report discusses the implications of unsuspected hypertrophic cardiomyopathy for anesthesia management.

CASE PRESENTATION: A veteran aged 55 years presented to the preadmission testing clinic prior to undergoing outpatient surveillance colonoscopy under anesthesia. BACKGROUND: Cardiogenic shock (CS) can be complicated by severe valvular heart disease (VHD). We analyzed cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) admissions according to VHD status.

METHODS AND RESULTS: The Critical Care Cardiology Trials Network is a multicenter network of tertiary CICUs. Centers contributed data from consecutive admissions during 2-month annual snapshots from 2017-2023. BACKGROUND: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is an alternative to surgery in patients with severe aortic stenosis, but data are limited on younger, low-risk patients. This analysis compares outcomes in low-surgical-risk patients agedsurgery.

PURPOSE: To report 36-month outcomes and subgroup analysis of the ABRE study evaluating the safety and effectiveness of the Abre venous self-expanding stent system for the treatment of symptomatic iliofemoral venous outflow obstruction disease.

METHODS: The ABRE study was a prospective, multicenter, nonrandomized study that enrolled and implanted Abre venous stents in 200 participants (mean age 51.5 years [SD ± 15.9], 66.5% women) with symptomatic iliofemoral venous outflow obstruction at 24 global sites. Transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement (TTVR) offers the potential for improved outcomes for the significant number of patients with severe tricuspid valve regurgitation relative to current treatment options. Imaging is a critical component of the success of this procedure. Here we describe strategies and techniques for the use of 3-dimensional intracardiac echocardiography as an adjunct to standard transesophageal echocardiography during TTVR procedure.
