Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease is one of the most common inherited disorders of the peripheral nervous system. Patients diagnosed with CMT disease have axonal degeneration which results in muscle wasting, sensory loss and weakness. Despite many common visible changes, no singular common genetic mutation for this disease or its cure has been identified. We present a case of of young 27year male who was admitted with history of headache and vomiting for one week. He was diagnosed as having dural sinus thrombosis of superior sagittal, right lateral, right sigmoid sinus. There was previous history of uveitis 6 months prior to it. Neuroimmunology has led to advanced diagnostics of previously cryptic disorders, using autoantibody testing against neurological targets. Neuropsychiatric syndromes and autoimmune encephalitis can now be routinely diagnosed using specialized antibody tests such as immunofluorescence and immunoblot assays in specialized laboratories. This helps in early and accurate diagnosis, leading to favorable patient prognosis. Here, we briefly review the diagnostics for Neuroimmunologic and related disorders including autoimmune encephalitis, demyelinating diseases, neuropathies, paraneoplastic syndromes, stiffperson syndrome, inflammatory myopathies as well as Alzheimer’s disease.

We present a 31 years old lady who was 19 days postpartum who was admitted with fits and loss of consciousness. At presentation Glasgow Coma Scale was 8/15. No focal deficit. CT scan brain showed findings suggestive of subarachnoid haemorrhage(SAH) in left sylvian fissure along with few parenchymal haemorrhagic areas in frontal and parietal lobes. MRI brain and MRV confirmed superior sagittal sinus thrombosis, inferior sagittal, straight and right transverse and sigmoid sinus thrombosis. Patient was treated conservatively and was anticoagulated for 6 months and had a complete recovery. Further workup of thrombophilia was negative. Postpartum being the only risk …

Nadir is typically reached within a number of days or weeks, followed by a recovery that is generally much slower and often incomplete. Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is an autoimmune condition that predominately involve demyelination of the white matter of the brain and spinal cord. It resembles other acute demyelinating syndromes like multiple sclerosis and most often presents in childhood.This is a case of a 52-year woman, presented with lower limb weakness, confusion and spasticity throughout the body with no preceding illness. CSF showed increased proteins with no oligoclonal bands. MRI Brain showed abnormal high intensity areas in bilateral parietal, periventricular region, with no contrast enhancement. She was given 1gram iv methylprednisolone based on the diagnosis of ADEM and responded well.

Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is one type of neuromodulation, which is an emerging technology that holds promise for the future studies on therapeutic and diagnosis applications in treatment of neurological and psychiatric diseases. Epilepsy is one of the commonest neurological disorders, caused by an enhanced cortical excitability favoring paroxysmal neuronal discharge. Cathodaldirect current stimulation (ctDCS) is a low-cost noninvasive portable neuro-stimulatory technique which can transiently decrease cortical excitability in humans. This was invasively demonstrated to reduce epileptiform discharges in animals.

Peripheral neuropathy is a common disorder which often causes disability.Among metals lead intoxication leads to bilateral radial neuropathy. Patients with lead neuropathy present with weakness that primarily involves the wrist and finger extensors. Lead intoxication in humans causes axonal degeneration. We report a case of middle age male who presented with bilateral wristsdrop, workup revealed that he had bilateral radial nerve neuropathy which was secondary to his occupational exposure to lead causing lead intoxication. Chronic lead exposure as a risk factor for neuropathy should be identified and treated promptly as its avoidance and treatment can save major disabilities.

OBJECTIVES: To estimate the frequency of risk factors for stroke and transient ischemic attacks in Pakistan; a multi-city community-based study. METHOD: This cross-sectional community-based study was conducted in various health care facilities including government funded District Head Quarters hospitals, private hospitals and medical centers, and community-based clinics across 27 cities all over Pakistan over a period of three years between 2013 and 2015. Neurological Burden In Baluchistan Province, Pakistan, Mohammad Saleem Barech

Total population of Balochistan is about13.16 million, while there are only nine qualified Neurologists in the whole province who look after not only neurological disorders of the province, but also patients from nearby countries like Afghanistan and Iran. The common neurological disorders are Stroke, Neuropathies, Myopathies, Epilepsy, Migraine, SSPE, Multiple Sclerosis, Meningitis, Myasthenia Gravis, Parkinson's disease and infectious diseases especially Tuberculosis, which is very common.

Long standing uncontrolled diabetes is associated with many clinical problems and it frequently involves hands and shoulder causing stenosing tenosynovitis (trigger finger), Dupuytren's contracture, carpal tunnel syndrome, limited joint mobility and shoulder capsulitis. The prevalence of hand symptoms has been variable in different studies. Data from our part of world is scares. Our study aimed at looking at frequency of these hand symptoms with duration of the diabetes.

Stroke is the second leading cause of death. Depressive disorder is characterized by period of sad mood and anhedonia occurring for two consecutive weeks. Among stroke survivors, the consequence of physical and psychological changes can be devastating. One of those psychological changes is post-stroke depression (PSD). Stroke itself has debilitating morbidity and superimposed PSD further decreases the quality of life of patients and impairs recovery. This study leads us to know the magnitude of post stroke depression.
