Context Gastric variceal (GV) bleeding is a serious complication in patients with cirrhosis, as it is usually severe with high rate of mortality and rebleeding. Aim The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of endoscopic therapy with isoamyl-2-cyanoacrylate (Amcrylate) in patients with cirrhosis with GV (gastroesophageal varices type 2 and isolated gastric varices type 1) bleeding. Background and aim of the work Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a complex frequent neuropsychiatric manifestation of chronic and acute liver disease with disturbance of psychomotor, intellectual, cognitive, behavioral, and fine motor function of varying severity. Diabetes mellitus (DM) exacerbates progression of hepatic fibrosis. Introduction Impaired systolic cardiac function in patients with ischemic cardiac disease is well known. Diastolic cardiac dysfunction is also found in these patients, so we aimed to show whether percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) could improve diastolic function. Patients and methods Twenty patients with chronic ischemic cardiomyopathy (with cardiac ejection fraction <45%) were examined at baseline and at 2 weeks after PCI diastolic function was evaluated by transmitral pulsed wave Doppler. Results Before PCI 60% of patients (12 patients) showed nonrestrictive filling pattern and 40% of patients (eight patients) showed restrictive filling pattern. Following PCI, diastolic function showed an improvement in most patients with only two patients still having an restrictive filling pattern. Background Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is considered the most common endocrine-metabolic disorder in women in reproductive age with decreased rates of ovulation and metabolic alterations, with resulting subfertility. Clomiphene citrate (CC) is a widely used first-line treatment for infertile women with PCOS, but approximately 20% of patients have been shown to be CC resistant. Laparoscopic ovarian drilling (LOD) is a treatment option for infertile women with CC resistant PCOS. Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) remains a major cause of childhood blindness in developing countries. As childhood and neonatal mortality in Egypt has shown tremendous improvement over the past two decades, it is expected to encounter an increasing number of cases of blindness from ROP in surviving infants unless strict guidelines and cooperation between different involved departments are explicitly set. In this review article, the author highlights the studies conducted and published risk factors, recommends protocols for early diagnosis, and describes management strategies to lessen or prevent blindness related to ROP.

Aims The aim of the present work was to show the relationship between TCF7L2 rs7903146 polymorphism and the hypoglycemic reaction to SUs in T2D patients.
