Elucidating its involvement in the onset and advancement of these cancers can offer critical insights for enhancing diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. This review outlines the core process of protein N-glycosylation and highlights its contribution to the progression of gastrointestinal cancers, encompassing cell proliferation, survival, invasion, metastasis, and immune evasion, mainly through its impact on critical signaling pathways. Pre-clinical murine and in vitro models have demonstrated that exercise suppresses tumour and cancer cell growth. These anti-oncogenic effects of exercise were associated with the exercise-mediated release of myokines such as interleukin (IL)-15. BACKGROUND: The atherogenic effect of remnant cholesterol is being increasingly acknowledged. This study aimed to explore the association of discordance between remnant cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol with stroke onset using 2 Chinese national cohorts. METHODS AND RESULTS: We studied 11 139 participants from CHARLS (China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study) and 5993 participants from CHNS (China Health and Nutrition Survey) aged 45 years or older. Globally, psychosocial services are largely inadequate, with many cancer survivors experiencing unmet psychosocial needs. The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes rehabilitation as an essential component of universal health coverage to prevent disease-related conditions, while also improving physical and mental functioning and overall well-being. Introduction: Maximal heterozygosity on the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) loci has been found to be associated with improved survival and development of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) among NSCLC patients treated with immunotherapy. Here, we investigated the effect of germline HLA-I/-II on clinical outcomes among NSCLC patients treated with first-line pembrolizumab in combination with chemotherapy. Method: We prospectively recruited patients with NSCLC who were commencing first-line pembrolizumab in combination with chemotherapy. Primary endometrial serous carcinoma, known for its aggressive nature and poor prognosis, shares similarities with breast and gastric cancers in terms of potential HER2 overexpression as a therapeutic target. Assessing HER expression is complicated by tumor heterogeneity and discrepancies between primary and metastatic sites. Objectives: In ovarian and other cancers, low muscle mass and density are associated with poorer clinical outcomes. However, screening for cancer-related sarcopenia (typically defined as low muscle mass) is not routinely conducted. The European Working Group on Sarcopenia in Older People (EWGSOP) recommends an algorithm for sarcopenia screening and diagnosis in clinical settings, with sarcopenia based on muscle strength and mass, and severity on physical performance. A significant proportion of cancer survivors will experience some form of mental health compromise across domains including mood, anxiety, psychosis, eating disorders, and substance use. This psychopathology within cancer survivors is related to a range of negative outcomes and can also have a substantial negative impact on quality of life. We describe real-world outcomes of a multi-site Australian cohort of patients who completed two-years of pembrolizumab. Methods: Retrospective data were collected from the national AUstralian Registry and biObank of thoRacic cAncers (AURORA). Malignant pleural effusions (MPEs) are common, and a third of them have underlying trapped lung (TL). Management of MPE and TL is suspected to be heterogeneous. Understanding current practices in Australasia is important in guiding policies and future research.

Aims:

Electronic survey of Australia-New Zealand respiratory physicians, thoracic surgeons and their respective trainees to determine practice of MPE and TL management.

Objective: To evaluate the factors associated with poor medication adherence in patients with DM and HTN in Peru. Study design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: We analyzed data from the Peruvian Demographic and Family Health Survey from 2014 to 2019. Adjusted prevalence ratios (aPR) and their respective 95% confidence intervals (CI) were estimated to determine the factors associated with poor medication adherence. Results: We included 15,184 participants with a known diagnosis of DM and HTN. Background: Melanoma can metastasize to distal organs including the heart although presentation with a symptomatic cardiac metastasis is rare. The optimal management remains uncertain particularly in the era of immunotherapy. Case summary: We report a case presenting with a large unresectable cardiac metastasis from melanoma that responded well to treatment with immunotherapy. Conclusion: Melanoma can metastasize to the heart and is often challenging to diagnose. Combination immunotherapy can be an effective treatment option even in the setting of a symptomatic and unresectable cardiac metastasis.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association between GGT/HDL-C ratio and resolution of MetS in adults after sleeve gastrectomy (SG). METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study using secondary data from a Peruvian bariatric center. The study population consisted of adults aged 18 and above who underwent laparoscopic SG and were diagnosed with MetS prior to the surgery.
