Etiologies of renal failure due to renal tubular injury may result from either ischemic/toxic injury of proximal tubules (ATN), variants of interstitial nephritis or obstructing tubulopathy by the luminal blocking of either monoclonal casts, uric acid or calcified deposits. Our previous studies indicate that the polarizable semi-transparent calcium oxalate deposits block proximal tubules, whereas monoclonal casts, uric acid deposits and bluish calcium phosphates block the distal tubules. We hypothesized that the serum creatinine (SCr) levels and the number of tubular obstructing deposits were correlated so that pathologic identification of obstructing foci can be predictable for the extent of renal dysfunction.

Immuno-check point inhibitors (CPI) such as PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors have been used to treat a variety of metastatic carcinoma with positive effects. However, there are complications such as gastrointestinal, hepatic and endocrine symptoms and kidney dysfunction. We describe our experience with CPI-associated acute interstitial nephritis (AIN).

Purpose: To quantitatively investigate the impact of spot position error (PE) on the dose distribution in (Spot-scanning arc therapy) SPArc plans versus Intensity-Modulated Proton Therapy (IMPT).

Methods:

Four representative disease sites, including brain, lung, liver, and prostate cancers, were retrospectively selected. Spot position errors were simulated during dynamic SPArc treatment delivery. Two types of errors were generated, including randomized error and systematic error. For each random error scenario, they were further examined across four sub-scenarios (25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of spots affected) at 1 mm and 2 mm deviations.The randomized errors used two categories with and without Gaussian distribution …

Methods: We surveyed 28 PT centers, collecting beam commissioning source model parameters of diverse beamlines from different vendors: Hitachi, IBA, Varian, Mevion. Introduction: Gardnerella vaginalis is a frequent cause of bacterial vaginosis (BV) in adults. However, G. vaginalis infection is infrequent in infants. Only a few cases of G. vaginalis UTI have been reported so far in infants and none in the United States.

Case Description: A 6-week-old female, ex full-term at 39 3/7 weeks via vaginal delivery with no significant postnatal medical history, presented with a 2-day history of fever, mild cough, and congestion.

Purpose: To quantitatively assess the impact of random gantry rotation perturbations on spot-scanning arc (SPArc) therapy.

Methods:

To simulate random gantry rotation perturbations, the initial gantry angle of SPArc treatment plans was modified using an in-house script. Four cases from different disease sites include brain, lung, liver and prostate were selected to evaluate. Original SPArc plans (SPArc_org) were developed through iterative processes, including control point re-sampling, redistribution of control points & energy layers, energy layer filtration, and re-sampling.
