Older adults taking multiple medications are at high risk for experiencing adverse drug events that result in hospitalization. Nurses are one of the first points of contact for patients and serve as patient educators. Many factors influence medication adherence, such as the patient-provider relationship and patient self-efficacy. This study aims to assess what impact patient self-efficacy has on the interaction between the patient-provider relationship and medication adherence.

Triage in emergent situations occurs when patients are assigned to areas of the hospital with different levels of care according to the perceived risks determined by their signs and symptoms. The variability of current triage protocols substantially increases the proportion of lower acuity patients who die unexpectedly due to improper risk stratification. The ETC lacked a formal tirage process for identification of Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (SAH), which can lead to delayed treatment and suboptimal patient outcomes. Data showed SAH patients who presented to the Emergency Trauma Center (ETC) with headache (HA) and hypertension frequently had long wait times before evaluation by a provider.

Background: Childhood obesity is becoming a predominant health concern with over 37 million children under the age of 5 being overweight. Instances of rapid weight gain in infancy correlate to greater risk for obesity later on in life.

Methods: This study aimed to look at feeding modality and style for their impact on maternal responsiveness to infant hunger cues and RWG. A database search identified 21 studies eligible to be included in the review out of 150.

Purpose/Background

Social determinants of health (SDOH) have a significant impact on health outcomes. Pediatric patients with type one diabetes mellitus (T1DM) with adverse SDOH have inferior glycemic control, higher healthcare utilization, and increased risks of complications. SDOH screenings are not standard practice in pediatric T1DM care despite literature demonstrating that screening can improve outcomes. This scoping review aims to summarize existing evidence surrounding SDOH screenings and their impact on pediatric T1DM outcomes.

Methods

The incidence of type 2 diabetes has significantly increased over the past decade, making it a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (Banach et al., 2022). Individuals with type 2 diabetes are four times more likely to develop atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, accounting for up to a 75% mortality rate. This policy-focused Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) quality improvement (QI) project aims to secure grant funding through the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program (GusNIP) to implement a produce prescription program at a community clinic in Texas. The program targets low-income adults (18-65 years) with type II diabetes who experience food insecurity and are affected by Medicaid non-expansion.

Purpose: The purpose of this project was to determine the effectiveness of the Seek, Help, Assess, Reach, and Evaluate (SHARE) approach in the management of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors in the Hispanic population at a primary care clinic while improving health literacy. The aim was that by February 2025, Hispanic patients at the clinic would achieve a 10% reduction in CVD risk factors.

Purpose/Background

Globally, postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality during the peripartum and postpartum period in delivering people. Emerging evidence suggests that combining second-line uterotonics with tranexamic acid (TXA) improves maternal outcomes, reduces blood loss, and lowers morbidity and mortality related to PPH (Jones et al., 2023; Al-dardery et al., 2023). TXA, an antifibrinolytic, enhances clotting, reduces blood loss, transfusion needs, hemoglobin drop, and the use of additional uterotonics (Bellos & Pergialiotis, 2021).
