INTRODUCTION: Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a rare, idiopathic condition that occurs in the mother around the time of childbirth. Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and/or reduced systolic function diagnosed in patients during the last month of pregnancy or up to five months following delivery defines PCCM.1 Another broader definition from the European Society of Cardiology defines PPCM as heart failure that occurs "towards the end of pregnancy or in the months following delivery, where no other cause of heart failure is found."2 Though PPCM occurs worldwide, …

BACKGROUND: Peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) is an effective neuromodulation therapy for chronic neuropathic and nociceptive pain. Although the total number of PNS implantations has increased over the last decade, no curriculum exists to guide training and learning of this therapy. The goal of the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) education committee is to develop a series of competency-based curriculums for neuromodulation therapies. The PNS curriculum is the latest part of such series, following the curriculums for spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal drug delivery system.

Introduction: Trainee burnout is common and evidence supporting the effectiveness of well-being interventions for this population is limited. We studied the effect of a longitudinal coaching program grounded in positive psychology on measures of pediatric trainee well-being.

Methods: Pediatric interns and fellows (n = 67) were enrolled in a positive psychology coaching program in 2017-2019. Pediatric faculty (n = 23) underwent training and were paired with trainees outside their field of interest. Trainees were surveyed at the beginning and end of the program to assess burnout and well-being, and key skills necessary to achieve well-being.

Deep vein thrombosis is a condition wherein a thrombus develops in the deep veins of the body, most commonly in the legs, due to increasing tendency of the blood to coagulate. One such reason is the MTHFR gene mutation, wherein an increase in homocysteine levels causes irritation of the blood vessel endothelium, causing a disturbance in Virchow’s triad, hence triggering clot formation. BACKGROUND

Multiple System Atrophy is a rapidly progressive neurodegenerative disease. Symptoms tend to appear in 50s and advance rapidly over the course of 5-10 years with progressive loss of motor and autonomic function.

Some of the common symptoms include frequent falls with or without tremors and b/l akinetic rigidity with involvement of the axial muscles. Postural tremor, severe stridor and cranio cervical dystonia may be seen. Alpha synnuclenopathies are generally characterized by REM behavioral disorders and severe dysautonomia years before the onset of the disease.

Diaphragmatic hernia is protrusion of abdominal viscera into the chest cavity. Most commonly seen due to congenital defects in the diaphragm, hence causing herniation of abdominal contents including stomach, bowel, pancreas, omentum. Acquired diaphragmatic hernia can be secondary to injury to diaphragm. Patient presents with respiratory distress, due to reduced lung expansion. Early correlation with radiological scans is required for appropriate timely management, to prevent further deterioration of condition.

Introduction: Burnout is very common in emergency medicine and there has been extensive research evaluating factors that contribute to burnout. We sought to examine the contributions of post-graduate year (PGY), shifts worked per month, patients seen per shift, and length of shifts to emergency medicine resident burnout.

Methods: All emergency medicine residents were surveyed with regards to their PGY, shifts worked per month, patients seen per shift, and length of shifts. Eliminating health disparities and achieving health equity are central to US national health objectives and the Military Health System’s “quadruple aim,” which has readiness as its core aim. Because military service members enjoy universal eligibility for health care, it is sometimes assumed that health disparities do not exist in the Department of Defense (DoD). However, while some studies have shown that disparities have been attenuated or eliminated in the DoD, others suggest that significant disparities remain. INTRODUCTION: The Orthopaedic In-Training Examination (OITE) is a multiple-choice examination developed by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons annually since 1963 to assess orthopaedic residents' knowledge. This study's purpose is to analyze the 2017 to 2021 OITE trauma questions to aid orthopaedic residents preparing for the examination.

METHODS: The 2017 to 2021 OITEs on American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' ResStudy were retrospectively reviewed to identify trauma questions. Question topic, references, and images were analyzed. Two independent reviewers classified each question by taxonomy.

PURPOSE: To develop and validate a deep learning model for detection of nasogastric tube (NGT) malposition on chest radiographs and assess model impact as a clinical decision support tool for junior physicians to help determine whether feeding can be safely performed in patients (feed/do not feed).

MATERIALS AND METHODS: A neural network ensemble was pretrained on 1 132 142 retrospectively collected (June 2007-August 2019) frontal chest radiographs and further fine-tuned on 7081 chest radiographs labeled by three radiologists.
