Peran Penting Inflamasom Nlrp3 Pada Aterosklerosis, Dewi Sukmawati Jun 2023

Peran Penting Inflamasom Nlrp3 Pada Aterosklerosis, Dewi Sukmawati

Jurnal Penyakit Dalam Indonesia

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) still contribute as the main cause of mortality and premature mortality worldwide. In Indonesia, CVDs contribute to 35% of the main cause of death in non-communicable diseases followed by diabetes at 6%. The ischemic heart disease and acute ischemic stroke is the main cause of death in Indonesia due to atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial cause, with chronic inflammation which causes myocardial infarction and acute ischemic stroke. Research demonstrated that one of the underlying mechanisms of atherosclerosis is inflammation. The current research suggested that inflammation could activate a complex of cytosol proteins, namely nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor …

Association Of Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase Rs1801133 Genetic Variants With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus And Diabetic Nephropathy, Aysegul Bayramoglu, Gokhan Bayramoglu, Halil Ibrahım Guler, Nezaket Coban, Mustafa Çagatay Korkmaz Aug 2022

Association Of Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase Rs1801133 Genetic Variants With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus And Diabetic Nephropathy, Aysegul Bayramoglu, Gokhan Bayramoglu, Halil Ibrahım Guler, Nezaket Coban, Mustafa Çagatay Korkmaz

Makara Journal of Health Research

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a complex metabolic disease with a genetic predisposition. Methylenetetrahydrofolatereductase (MTHFR) gene is one of the candidate genes associated with T2DM and diabetic nephropathy (DN). This research was carried out to determine the frequency of the C677T polymorphism (rs1801133) of the MTHFR gene and examine the role of rs1801133 polymorphism in T2DM and DN development.

Methods: DNA was obtained from peripheral blood samples (273 samples) using a DNA isolation kit. MTHFR rs1801133 polymorphism was determined using polymerase chain reaction (PCR), restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP), and electrophoresis. PCR products were cut by …

Comparative Analysis Of Proteomics Biomarkers Associated With Residual Ridge Resorption Induced By Denture Wear, Rohana Ahmad, Ainin Sofia Mohamad Napi, Tong Wah Lim, Su Keng Tan, Saiful Anuar Karsani, Musalmah Mazlan, Lay Kek Teh, Steven M. Morgano, Nadim Z. Baba Aug 2021

Comparative Analysis Of Proteomics Biomarkers Associated With Residual Ridge Resorption Induced By Denture Wear, Rohana Ahmad, Ainin Sofia Mohamad Napi, Tong Wah Lim, Su Keng Tan, Saiful Anuar Karsani, Musalmah Mazlan, Lay Kek Teh, Steven M. Morgano, Nadim Z. Baba

Makara Journal of Health Research

Background: The biochemical bone turnover markers for residual ridge resorption (RRR) are unclear. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the biochemical bone turnover markers associated with RRR by comparing proteomics between the compressed mucosa of denture wearers and the non-compressed mucosa of non-denture wearers.

Methods: The mucosal specimens of 11 complete-denture wearers were obtained from the alveolar ridge during surgical implant exposure for implant-retained overdentures. All denture wearers had been edentulous and worn dentures for at least 5 years. The tissues of 11 non-denture wearers were taken from the ridge during minor preprosthetic surgery. The mucosal proteins …

Makara Journal of Health Research

Background: The liver microenvironment plays a key role in liver fibrosis and carcinogenesis. This study aimed to fill the gap in knowledge on the interaction between hepatic stellate cells and endothelial progenitor cells with biomarkers of liver fibrosis and/or carcinogenesis, including Col1A1, TGF-β, and tenascin-C.

Methods: CD34+ stem cells were isolated from umbilical-cord-blood mononuclear cells. 2D and 3D co-culture of CD34+ UCB SCs and LX2 was performed. The cells were incubated in a CO2 incubator for three days. Morphological observation, qRT-PCR of TGF-β1 and COL1A1, and immunocytochemistry of tenascin-C were performed.

Results: CD34+ …
