ที่มา: การรักษาวัณโรคด้วยยามีโอกาสแพ้ยาสูง ในปัจจุบันยังไม่มีรายงานข้อมูลในการตรวจอิไลสปอทในการช่วยวินิจฉัยแพ้ยาในกลุ่มนี้ วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อหาค่าทำนายผลลบของการตรวจหาอินเตอร์เฟียรอนแกมมาโดยวีธีอิไลสปอทในการวินิจฉัยการแพ้ยาต้านวัณโรค วิธีการศึกษา: เก็บข้อมูลจากเวชระเบียนของผู้ป่วยทั้งหมดที่ได้ส่งตรวจการแพ้ยาโดยวิธีอิไลสปอท จากสาขาวิชาโรคภูมิแพ้และภูมิคุ้มกัน ภาควิชาอายุรศาสตร์ คณะแพทย์ศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ระหว่างเดือนมกราคม 2555 - เมษายน 2562 จำนวน 29 ราย ผลการศึกษา: การตรวจหาอินเตอร์เฟียรอบแกมมาโดยวิธีอิไลสปอทในการวินิจฉัยการแพ้ยาวัณโรคให้ความไวร้อยละ 13.79 ความจำเพาะร้อยละ 96.77 ค่าทำนายผลบวกร้อยละ 66.67 ค่าทำนายผลลบร้อยละ 70.59 โดยการศึกษาไม่พบว่าปัจจัยอื่นๆ มีผลต่อการตรวจดังกล่าว สรุปผล: การตรวจหาอินเตอร์เฟียรอนแกมมาโดยวิธีอิไลสปอท ให้ค่าทำนายผลบวกและทำนายผลลบที่ไม่สูงมาก ผลการตรวจหากเป็นลบจะมีผลต่อการเปลี่ยนความน่าจะเป็นของการแพ้ยาเพียงเล็กน้อย แต่จะช่วยทำนายการแพ้ยาได้ดีขึ้นหากตรวจได้เป็นบวกในคนไข้กลุ่มแพ้ยารุนแรง อย่างไรก็ตามการศึกษานี้มีจำนวนข้อมูลที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์น้อยจึงยังอาจไม่พบความสัมพันธ์ที่อาจมีต่อผลการตรวจได้ ควรมีการศึกษาในระยะยาวเพื่อหาปัจจัยที่ช่วยให้การตรวจได้ประโยชน์มากที่สุด

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is an inflammatory skin disease characterized by chronic and recurrent eczematous rash. AD occurs in both children and adults, but children are more affected. An important aggravating factor is caused by Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) infection. Therefore, topical (beta-lactam, macrolides, clindamycin) and systemic (mupirocin and fusidic acid) antibiotics are essential for treatment of AD. Aspergillus flavus is a fungus found in the environment causing keratitis, cutaneous infections, sinusitis, invasive pulmonary aspergillosis in humans. Although this fungus can be treated with antifungal agents, these main antifungal agents have many side effects. Trehalase is an enzyme for digesting trehalose into two glucose subunits and is essential for virulence in many fungi. A trehalase inhibitor, called validamycin A, has been used effectively against a rice fungal pathogen, Rhizoctonia solani. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death worldwide. It is ranked third for new cancer patients in Thailand. Colorectal cancer is associated with multifactorial risk factors including the imbalance of gut microbiota. This project aimed to identify Lactobacillus strains isolated from Thai healthy populations that have anticancer activities against colorectal cancer in vitro. Cytolethal distending toxin subunit B (CdtB) is a DNase I-like bacterial genotoxin that causes DNA damage leading to cell cycle arrest and cell death. Previous reports demonstrated that CdtB has low level of DNase activity in vitro. Besides, a mutation at histone H2B phosphorylation site required for chromatin condensation during apoptosis (S10A) conferred partial resistance to CdtB in Saccharomyces cerevisiae model. Mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells are an innate-like T cell that rapidly respond to infection. MAIT cells are αβ T cells that possess a Vα7.2 (TRAV1-2) TCR with mostly pairing to TRAJ33, TRAJ20 or TRAJ12 and predominantly TRBV20-1, TRBV6-1 and TRBV6-4. MAIT T cell receptors (TCR) repertoire have been previously studied in peripheral blood. However, data on MAIT TCR repertoire in gastrointestinal tract are lacking. Microglia are the glial cell in the central nervous system. They function as resident immune cells in the brain. Microglial activation was an increase in the normal aged brain and also more found in the aged brain with neurodegenerative disease. Activated microglial were found iron accumulation leading to increase ROS generation via the Fenton reaction. Activating mutations affecting the JAK-STAT signal transduction is the genetic driver of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) which comprise polycythemia vera (PV), essential thrombocythemia (ET) and myelofibrosis. The JAK2p.V617F mutation can produce both erythrocytosis in PV and thrombocytosis in ET, while JAK2 exon 12 mutations cause only erythrocytosis. We hypothesized that these two mutations activated different intracellular signals. In this study, the induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) were used to model JAK2-mutated MPNs. Normal iPSCs underwent lentiviral transduction to overexpress JAK2p.V617F or JAK2p.N542_E543del (JAK2exon12) under a doxycycline-inducible system. Despite strengthened antimicrobial therapy, biofilm infections of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii are associated with poor prognosis and limited therapeutic options. Assessing antibiotics on planktonic bacteria can result in failure against biofilm infections. Currently, antibiotics to treat biofilm infections are administered empirically, usually without considering the susceptibility of the biofilm objectively before beginning treatment. This study aimed to investigate the protective effects of exercise training against age-induced the reduction of cardiac angiogenic capacity associated with p-Akt1, eNOS, Mdm2, p53, VEGF, and CD31 in rat hearts. Costal cartilage is much understudied compared to the load bearing cartilages. Abnormally grown costal cartilages are associated with the inherited chest wall deformities pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum resulting in sunken or pigeon chest respectively. A lack of understanding of the ultrastructural and molecular biology properties of costal cartilage is a major confounder in predicting causes and outcomes of these disorders. Due to the avascular nature of cartilage, chondrocytes metabolize glycolytically, producing an acidic environment. Although great strides have been made over the decades in development and optimization of anti-cancer therapies, even highly effective drugs often fail to completely eliminate tumors. Residual tumor cells can enter into a state of dormancy for prolonged periods of time but eventually are able to regain proliferative capacity and reemerge as chemotherapy-resistant disease. Because recurrent disease is a leading contributor to patient’s mortality, it is paramount to identify strategies for effectively destroying residual tumor cells.

The WHO estimated 78 million new cases of gonorrhea worldwide in 2017, with estimates of 820,000 new cases in the United States alone according to the CDC. The relationship between the endocannabinoid system in the renal medulla and the long-term regulation of blood pressure is not well understood. To investigate the possible role of the endocannabinoid system in renomedullary interstitial cells, mouse medullary interstitial cells (MMICs) were obtained, cultured and characterized for their responses to treatment with a selective inhibitor of fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), PF-3845. Treatment of MMICs with PF-3845 increased cytoplasmic lipid granules detected by Sudan Black B staining and multilamellar bodies identified by transmission electron microscopy. HPLC analyses of lipid extracts of MMIC culture medium revealed a 205nm-absorbing peak that showed responsiveness to …

Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a fatal primary malignancy that is formed in the bile ducts. Cancer-associated myofibroblasts play a crucial role in CCA proliferation and invasion. Furthermore, there is a growing interest in the role of the exosome in the interaction between the cancer-associated myofibroblasts and cholangiocarcinoma which lead to CCA growth. However how cholangiocarcinoma-derived exosome affect the cancer-associated myofibroblasts in the tumor microenvironment remain unknown. Ligands of the human monoamine transporters encompass a wide range of both illicit and therapeutic drugs that act upon neural circuitry related to reward, motivation, and the processing of salient stimuli. The present study utilizes two methods for analyzing transporter substrates and inhibitors in order to characterize activity and assess potency. The first measures transient changes in intracellular calcium as a surrogate for transporter activity by harnessing the electrical coupling of monoamine transporters and L-type calcium channels. Cancer-associated cachexia is a condition defined by a sustained net-negative energy imbalance. Although the different types of adipose tissue – white, beige, and brown – have been implicated in contributing to cancer-associated cachexia, the mechanisms of these maladaptive changes and their impact on whole-body energy expenditure have not been fully elucidated. Using breast cancer as our model, we demonstrate white adipose tissue browning in murine and human breast cancer; furthermore, we demonstrate that this effect is extremely localized and takes place early in tumor progression. The field of cancer research has grown immensely in recent decades and has led to a better understanding of the causes of the disease, as well as greatly improved treatment for various types of cancers, especially breast cancer. One of the most effective treatments involves the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin (DOX).
