INTRODUCTION: Fifty per cent of patients with cancer require radiotherapy during their disease course, however, only 10%-40% of patients in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs) have access to it. A shortfall in specialised workforce has been identified as the most significant barrier to expanding radiotherapy capacity. Artificial intelligence (AI)-based software has been developed to automate both the delineation of anatomical target structures and the definition of the position, size and shape of the radiation beams. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the quality of thyroidectomy-related posts on TikTok, the fastest-growing social media platform worldwide.

METHODS: Videos posted from April 2020 to September 2022 were queried on TikTok using the search terms "thyroidsurgery," "thyroidectomy," and "thyroidremoval." Two reviewers recorded thematic, demographic, and performance data of these posts. The DISCERN instrument was used to evaluate the quality and reliability of the information contained in the videos. Descriptive statistics were used to characterize post-submitter demographics and video content. Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic impact on Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) programs is unknown. This research evaluated sociodemographic factors influencing adherence to EDHI diagnostic testing and the incidence of infant hearing loss during the pandemic.

Method: We evaluated EHDI adherence and incidence of hearing loss in Kentucky before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using univariate and multivariate analysis, we evaluated the association of these outcomes to sociodemographic variables.

Fatigue among patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) has been associated with higher inflammation. Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory effects. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the association between SCFAs and fatigue among patients with HNC undergoing treatment with radiotherapy with or without concurrent chemotherapy. Plasma SCFAs and the Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory-20 were collected prior to and one month after the completion of treatment in 59 HNC patients. Automated methods for segmenting multiple geometrically complex structures can not only streamline preoperative planning but also augment minimally invasive and/or robot-assisted procedures in this space. BACKGROUND: There are limited studies and no surveillance protocols on pituitary dysfunction for adults who underwent anterior skull base radiation.

METHODS: Cross-sectional study of 50 consecutive patients with sinonasal or nasopharyngeal cancer who underwent definitive radiotherapy. The mean radiation doses, prevalence of pituitary dysfunction, and associated factors were calculated.

RESULTS: Pituitary hormone levels were abnormal in 23 (46%) patients, including 6 (12%) with symptomatic abnormalities requiring treatment. The most common hormonal abnormality was hyperprolactinemia (30%), central hypothyroidism (8%) and central hypogonadism (6%). Rationale:

Cardiac arrest (CA) caused by trigeminocardiac reflex (TCR) after endoscopic nasal surgery is rare. Hence, when a patient suffers from TCR induced CA in the recovery room, most doctors may not be able to find the cause in a short time, and standard cardiopulmonary resuscitation and resuscitation measures may not be effective. Providing circulatory assistance through venous-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) can help healthcare providers gain time to identify the etiology and initiate symptom-specific treatment.

Rhino-cerebral aspergillosis is a rare phenomenon describing a contiguous spread of Aspergillus species from the paranasal sinuses to the intracranial space. In this case report, we describe a case of invasive rhino-cerebral aspergillosis arising in the setting of prolonged intranasal steroid use in an 81-year-old patient with chronic sinusitis. This case report emphasizes the importance of recognizing steroid use as a risk factor for invasive aspergillosis in otherwise immunocompetent individuals.

BACKGROUND: The objective of this study was to evaluate long-term symptom improvements in patients with nasal airway obstruction (NAO) secondary to nasal valve collapse (NVC) following minimally invasive temperature-controlled radiofrequency (TCRF) treatment.

METHODS: A prospective, single-arm, multicenter study in patients >18 years with NAO due to NVC. Inclusion criteria were response to nasal valve dilation (e.g., modified Cottle maneuver) and baseline Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) Scale score ≥60. INTRODUCTION: We investigated outcomes and prognostic factors for patients treated for cutaneous angiosarcoma (CA).

METHODS: We conducted a retrospective review of patients treated for CA of the face and scalp from 1962 to 2019. All received definitive treatment with surgery, radiation (RT), or a combination (S-XRT). The Kaplan-Meier method was used to estimate outcomes. Multivariable analyses were conducted using the Cox proportional hazards model.

IMPORTANCE: Oncologic outcomes are similar for patients with oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) treated with primary surgery or radiotherapy. However, comparative differences in long-term patient-reported outcomes (PROs) between modalities are less well established.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the association between primary surgery or radiotherapy and long-term PROs.

DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This cross-sectional study used the Texas Cancer Registry to identify survivors of OPSCC treated definitively with primary radiotherapy or surgery between January 1, 2006, and December 31, 2016. Patients were surveyed in October 2020 and April 2021.

Introduction

Ludwig’s angina is a type of severe cellulitis that spreads rapidly and carries a significant risk of airway compromise. Previous complications with COVID-19 are poorly described within the literature.

Case Presentation

This case report describes the complication of COVID-19 infection with suspected Ludwig’s angina 2 days after admission, resulting in awake fibroscopic endotracheal intubation. Emergent treatment and establishing a secure airway are paramount in these cases. We discuss the role of antibiotics and adjunct treatment in these cases of potential airway compromise.

The Joint Committee on Infant Hearing (JCIH) recommends hearing screening (HS) on all infants by 1 month of age. The incident rate of vocal cord paralysis varies greatly depending on the cause of paralysis as well as if it's unilateral or bilateral, for this poster we will be focusing on unilateral paralysis. From 1985 to 1995 cancer was the primary cause for vocal cord paralysis, however this shifted to primarily iatrogenic surgical injury from 1996 to 2005. In another study it was found that idiopathic paralysis and tumors to both be the primary cause (31.11% respectively), with surgery consisting of 28.89%, and trauma, brain problems, systemic disease and other causes being 2.2%.

In this case report, we present a 15-month-old patient with HLHS who underwent multiple procedures, including two aortic arch surgeries. After the interventions, the patient experienced left main pulmonary bronchus compression along with pulmonary artery stenosis. In this case, we outline an approach to performing vascular dilation without compromise of airway patency.

BACKGROUND: While immune-cell infiltrated tumors, such as human papillomavirus positive (HPV+) ororpharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas (OPSCC) have been associated with an improved clinical prognosis, there is evidence to suggest that OPSCCs are also subjected to increased immunoregulatory influence. The objective of this study was to assess whether patients with clinically aggressive OPSCC have a distinct immunosuppressive immune signature in the primary tumor.

METHODS: This retrospective case-control study analyzed 37 pre-treatment tissue samples from HPV+ and HPV-negative OPSCC patients treated at a single institution. The cases were patients with known disease recurrence and the controls were patients without disease recurrence. An …
