Among disorders affecting the central nervous system (CNS), excluding trauma, multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common cause of permanent disability in young adults. This condition is characterized by IgG autoantibody-mediated destruction of oligodendrocytes in the brain and spinal cord. Although the origin of MS is not fully understood, some suggest that prolactin may be involved in the development of the disease process evidenced by the fact that it predominately affects women of childbearing age, and the diverse role of prolactin (PRL) as a peptide hormone, cytokine, and immune modulator. Introduction: Medulloblastoma (MB) is an embryonal central nervous system (CNS) tumor located in the posterior cranial fossa. Medulloblastoma is one of the most common malignant pediatric brain tumors, accounts for 25% of all pediatric intracranial tumors, but rare in adults; and constitute 0.4%-1% of adult primary brain tumors. The incidence of medulloblastomas in adults is approximately 0.5 per million per year and decreases with age with male predominance. Medulloblastomas classically appear as well-defined masses in the cerebellum that enhance both computed tomography (CT) of the head and brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with gadolinium contrast. Context: The identification of parathyroid tumor(s) in patients with persistent/recurrent primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is critical for a successful re-operative surgery. If non-invasive studies (ultrasound, CT, MRI, sestamibi) fail to conclusively localize the tumor, invasive procedures (arteriography and selective venous sampling) are performed.

Objective: To describe our experience with invasive studies for parathyroid tumor localization and provide follow-up data on selective arterial hypocalcemic stimulation with central venous sampling, a technique developed at our center.

INTRODUCTION: Neuromas are commonly diagnosed at the third interspace, and are known as morton’s neuromas. It is not a true neuroma, but rather degeneration of myelinated nerve fiber with associated histopathological changes of the interdigital nerve within the foot. This condition is a degenerative process rather than neoplastic. The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not third interspace neuromas truly are the most common location for a neuroma when compared to other interspaces of the foot.

BACKGROUND: The current College of American Pathologist (CAP) recommendation is that breast biomarkers Estrogen (ER), Progesterone (PR) and HER2 neu (Her2) testing be done on all primary invasive breast carcinomas and on recurrent or metastatic tumors with the aim to identify patients that will benefit from hormonal treatment or anti-Her2 therapy. Repeat testing on a subsequent specimen is not usually indicated unless results appear discordant with the histopathologic findings. Purpose: Patients with digestive system cancers (DSCs) are at a high risk for hospitalizations; however, the risk factors for readmission remain unknown. Here, we established a retrospective cohort study to assess the association between metabolic obesity phenotypes and readmission risks of DSC.

Experimental design: A total of 142,753 and 74,566 patients at index hospitalization were ultimately selected from the Nationwide Readmissions Database (NRD) 2018 to establish the 30-day and 180-day readmission cohorts, respectively. The study population was classified into four groups: metabolically healthy non-obese (MHNO), metabolically healthy obese (MHO), metabolically unhealthy non-obese (MUNO), and metabolically unhealthy obese (MUO). BACKGROUND: This study explored perceptions of barriers and facilitators to healthful dietary behaviors among patients with gastrointestinal (GI) cancer and their caregivers, including caregiver preparedness, patient and caregiver self-efficacy for symptom management, and other environmental, social, and familial factors that may serve as barriers and facilitators to healthful eating.

METHODS: Using a concurrent mixed methods cross-sectional study design, individuals with GI cancer receiving outpatient chemotherapy and their caregivers completed surveys, dietary assessments, and interviews. Caregiving preparedness, self-efficacy for symptom management, and dietary intake were assessed using validated instruments. Dietary quality was measured using the Healthy Eating Index (HEI)-2020.
