Fda Approval Of The Eversense 365 Continuous Glucose Monitoring System: A New Era In Long-Term Glucose Monitoring, Kiley Devoll, Alexander Defranco, Kennedy Kosikowski, Anna Spalvieri, Macy Davis, Connor Dains, Brenna Hissong, Emily Eddy
Pharmacy and Wellness Review
Eversense 365 is an implantable continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system designed to provide accurate glucose measurements for up to 365 days. Current clinical guidelines recommend CGM use for patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), with evidence demonstrating benefit in patients with T2DM regardless of concurrent insulin use. Healthcare providers play a key role in patient education and are well-positioned to support the adoption of long-term CGM technologies, including Eversense 365. The safety and efficacy of the 365-day CGM have been evaluated across a series of clinical trials, which demonstrate clinically meaningful improvements in …
Type 2 Diabetes Education And Knowledge In The Adult Hmong Community, Sheng Yang
Type 2 Diabetes Education And Knowledge In The Adult Hmong Community, Sheng Yang
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Type 2 Diabetes is a chronic health condition that affects many individuals, but specifically has been found to significantly affect minority population groups. There has been very limited research regarding understanding the etiology of the disease in the Hmong community that migrated to the United States from Southeast Asia. The purpose of this project was to design and implement an evidence-based, culturally appropriate educational intervention in the Hmong language to increase knowledge of Type 2 Diabetes among the adult Hmong community in Burke County and Catawba County, NC areas. The intervention was delivered to a total of 30 participants who …
Diabetic Self-Management Programs As An Intervention To Decrease A1c Levels, Amanda Hughes
Diabetic Self-Management Programs As An Intervention To Decrease A1c Levels, Amanda Hughes
Master of Science in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner
This paper discusses and examines the impact of a technology-integrated diabetes self-management program on HbA1c levels in adults with Type 2 diabetes, compared to traditional diabetic care and education methods. Utilizing a theoretical framework of Social Cognitive Theory, which would be applied to this project, the research would investigate whether integrating technological tools, such as mobile applications and online platforms, into diabetes self-management can provide better glycemic control. A randomized controlled trialis proposed that would involve 200 adult participants with Type 2 diabetes, divided into two groups: one receiving the technology-integrated program and the other following conventional care protocols. Over …
The Effects Of Obesity And Diabetes On The Pediatric Population, Keyur Patel, Vrushank Shah, Zachary Harris, Kanad Mukherjee
The Effects Of Obesity And Diabetes On The Pediatric Population, Keyur Patel, Vrushank Shah, Zachary Harris, Kanad Mukherjee
Rowan-Virtua Research Day
The World Health Organization has declared diabetes (DM) and Obesity to be epidemics due to their rising prevalence. Obesity plays a role in the aetiopathogenesis of type 2 diabetes, the most common type of diabetes in the world, as well as the development of its complications. Obesity and overweight play a growing role in type 1 diabetes. Weight gain is often thought of as a side effect of insulin therapy, but it also has a significant pathophysiological impact at different stages of the disease. (1) In the United States and other nations across the world, childhood obesity has become a …
Evaluating A1c Reduction In Patients With Diabetes Receiving Pharmacy Intervention, Christopher R. Evans, Kirsten Held, Stephanie Thomas, Jeanne Spencer
Evaluating A1c Reduction In Patients With Diabetes Receiving Pharmacy Intervention, Christopher R. Evans, Kirsten Held, Stephanie Thomas, Jeanne Spencer
Advances in Clinical Medical Research and Healthcare Delivery
Introduction: Diabetes affects 34 million Americans and is the 7th leading cause of death in the United States. According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) the A1c goal for most patients is less than 7%; however, in patients at risk for hypoglycemia or with complications that goal can be increased up to less than 8%. Management of diabetes with diet and exercise is essential, but insufficient for most patients and pharmacologic intervention is necessary to achieve therapeutic goals. Reducing A1c is associated with lower cardiovascular risk and a reduction in diabetes-associated complications. Previous studies have shown that pharmacist management of …
Effects Of Social Determinants Of Health In Progression To Type 2 Diabetes, Folabi I. Ariganjoye
Effects Of Social Determinants Of Health In Progression To Type 2 Diabetes, Folabi I. Ariganjoye
Applied Research Projects
The prevalence of prediabetes and diabetes in the United States and around the world has increased faster than expected in the last 30 years. The economic burden this costs a nation can be astronomic both in terms of expense and loss in productivity. One-third of U.S. adults, 86 million people, have prediabetes. Effective management is needed that can reach these 86 million, and others at high risk, to reduce their progression to diagnosed Type 2 diabetes. After the literature review, there was not enough literature to support how these led to the progression to diabetes. The abundant literature is centered …

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Background Diabetes mellitus (DM) and depression are important comorbid conditions that can lead to more serious health outcomes. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) supports routine screening for depression as part of standard diabetes management. The PHQ2 and PHQ9 questionnaires are good diagnostic screening tools used for major depressive disorders in Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2). This quality improvement study aims to compare the rate of depression screening, treatment, and referral to behavioral health in adult patients with DM2 pre and post-integration of depression screening tools into the electronic health record (EHR).
Methods We conducted a retrospective chart review on patients …
Diabetes Debunked: What You Need To Know, Maggie Hutson
Diabetes Debunked: What You Need To Know, Maggie Hutson
Honors Program: Senior Projects (Public)
The goal of this Honors creative project is to encourage health literacy in populations who are curious about Type 2 Diabetes or have Type 2 Diabetes. From personal experience, I have seen noncompliance in diabetics and wondered why since it is a serious, progressive disease. After researching, I found that some diabetics do not understand the scope of their disease, especially since many of the dangerous complications that arise from Type 2 Diabetes do not present until later in the disease when it is too late. For my senior project, I decided to write an educational paper as a supplement …

Age, Gender, And Racial Differences Between Acute Myocardial Infarction, Type 2 Diabetes, And Their Comortality, Steven Borchers
Scholarship in Medicine - All Papers
Acute myocardial infarction and type two diabetes are within the top seven causes of death in the United States and their impact on society is costly. Although there are many studies conducted about these diseases, some of the research is aged and requires more recent datasets. The objective of this research is to revel trends in these diseases, as well as in their comorbidity, relating to age, gender, and race. To conduct this research, data has been collected from the CDC Wonder dataset using their comorbidity database. This comorbidity data uses USA death certificates from 1999-2017 to retrieve the medical …
The Acute Effect Of Water Intake On Glucose Regulation In Low Drinkers, Adam David Seal
The Acute Effect Of Water Intake On Glucose Regulation In Low Drinkers, Adam David Seal
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Previous evidence suggests the hormone arginine vasopressin (AVP) may be a modifiable factor contributing to hyperglycemia. Significant differences in urine concentration and copeptin, a marker for AVP, have been observed between low and high water drinkers. Purpose: The purpose was to investigate the acute effect of adequate water intake on glucose regulation in low drinkers. Methods: 7 healthy (5 males, 2 female) low drinkers were recruited using a water frequency questionnaire (WFQ), spot and 24-h urine sample (age 43±6 y, BMI 30.9±3, WFQ volume 823±403 mL∙d-1, 24 h Uosm 961±105 mmol∙kg-1, copeptin 8.17±3.05 pmol∙L-1). During two experimental protocols, participants remained …
