Metastasis-induced acute pancreatitis (MIAP) is a condition that occurs when patients develop acute pancreatitis secondary to metastatic malignancy. Most pancreatic cancers are adenocarcinomas that are primary malignancies. On the other hand, metastatic pancreatic lesions are rare, especially from primary pulmonary malignancies. Suboptimal levels of Vitamin D, remains a common problem worldwide and its prevalence is high in India, ranging from 70-100%. The purpose of this study was to examine differences in health-related outcomes (anemia, neutropenia, and infection) and utilization of health care resources (inpatient, outpatient, and emergency visits) in BCS with and without diabetes.

Neuroendocrine breast carcinomas represent a rare subtype of breast cancer. Their definition, prevalence and prognosis remain controversial in the literature. Regarding the presentation, there are no differences from other breast carcinomas and clinical syndromes related to hormone production are extremely rare. Refinement of the classification of neuroendocrine neoplasms of the breast is needed in order to improve the reproducibility of their diagnostic criteria and to define their clinical significance.

Pheochromocytoma (PCC) is a rare catecholamine-secreting tumor that arises from chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla which are derived from the neural crest. This report illustrates a 51-year-old Caucasian male with a history of hypertension diagnosed two years ago who presented to the hospital due to acute onset of right testicular pain of 3-day duration. Laboratory results and imaging revealed a presumptive diagnosis of PCC. The patient had undergone robot-assisted laparoscopic right adrenalectomy 14 days after being diagnosed with PCC due to perioperative management with phenoxybenzamine. Introduction: Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare and biologically aggressive malignancy. The incidence of ACC is between 0.7-2 cases per million, accounting for 0.05-2% of all malignant tumors. Cortisol-producing carcinomas are the most common, with clinical features consistent with hypercortisolism: refractory hypertension, glucose intolerance, and central obesity. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a deadly disease with a dismal five-year survival rate of less than 10%. One major obstacle in PDAC treatment is acquired drug resistance. Pan-histone deacetylase inhibitors (pan-HDACi) are a relatively new class of anti-cancer drugs, with demonstrated ability to overcome drug resistance and re-sensitize PDAC tumors to Gemcitabine (Gem). These agents target HDACs, a family of 18 enzymes (divided into four classes, I-IV) that catalyze the deacetylation of histones and other cellular proteins and have multiple effects on cell growth, differentiation, survival, and tumorigenesis. Hyperparathyroidism-jaw tumor (HPT-JT) syndrome is a disease characterized by parathyroid tumors, renal cysts or tumors, uterine tumors, and ossifying jaw fibromas. The cause of this syndrome is linked to a tumor suppressor gene called Cdc73, which encodes the protein product parafibromin. The loss of proper expression of Cdc73/parafibromin is implicated in the development of the tumors typical of HPT-JT, although the exact mechanisms of tumorigenesis are unclear. The cellular response to stress involves changes in gene expression programs as well as the remodeling of subcellular organelles including the mitochondria. Important for this study, the mitochondria undergo extensive fragmentation when the cell is exposed to a variety of stressors. The cyclin C-Cdk8 kinase is a highly conserved transcription factor that associates with the RNA polymerase II holoenzyme. Using cyclin C knockout (CCNC^-/-) mouse embryonic fibroblast (MEF) cells, I revealed that cyclin C is required for the extensive mitochondrial fragmentation following treatment with pro-oxidants or the anti-cancer drug cisplatin. However, Cdk8 is not required for this process …
