Introduction: Aortic coarctation has an incidence of 0.04% and is typically amendable either through a surgical or interventional approach. Unfortunately, patients that have undergone repair of the coarctation are at risk of systemic hypertension which suggests a more diffuse vasculopathy. The arteriopathy can also affect the pulmonary vasculature leading to pulmonary hypertension (PH). The development of PH is a poor prognostic factor. Patients with a history of coarctation repairs have more significant afterload measurements which stiffen their left ventricle and decrease compliance and diastolic function. Adults with Coarctation of the aorta (CoA) are at increased risk of premature cardiovascular death …

Introduction: Vanishing Lung Syndrome (VLS), also known as idiopathic giant bullous emphysema, is a rare pulmonary condition characterized by the development of large, thin-walled bullae within the lung parenchyma. While the exact etiology of VLS remains unclear, there is growing interest in exploring a potential association between VLS and cannabis use. This case report aims to contribute to the existing body of knowledge by presenting a case of VLS in a patient with a history of chronic cannabis consumption in prior years.

By adopting systems-based thinking, we can identify areas of the healthcare system to change to eliminate these disparities. Blood-brain barrier disruption has been identified to associate with the pathogenesis several neurological diseases such as dementia [1, 2], multiple sclerosis[3, 4], acute or chronic cerebral ischemia[5], brain trauma[5], meningitis[5], encephalitis[5], stroke[6], and seizures[7]. Being able to effectively identify blood-brain barrier disruption is limited in methodology. The current standard is using a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) albumin to serum albumin index, which requires the use of a lumbar puncture. With the dissemination of the Monkeypox (Mpox) virus, it became a necessity to produce POCTS that are inexpensive and easy to use. Background: Despite adherence to standard protocols, residues including live microorganisms may remain on the various surfaces of reprocessed flexible endoscopes. Prions are infectious proteins notoriously difficult to eliminate.

Aim: We tested the potential of cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) for the decontamination of flexible endoscope various surfaces, measuring total proteins and prion-residual infectivity as an indicator of efficacy.

Methods: New PTFE endoscope channels and metal test surfaces spiked with test soil or prion-infected tissues were treated using different CAP-generating prototypes. During the menopause transition, drops in estrogen play a favorable role in the excess accumulation of Intraabdominal Fat (IAF), altering blood lipid metabolism and inducing inflammatory responses in CMDs attributed to dyslipidemia. This systematic review and meta-analysis examined current research on the effects of whole fruits high in anthocyanins on blood lipid metabolism in women at risk for CMDs.
