Effects Of Jagged1 On Mirna Expression In Dental Stem Cells, Promphakkon Kulthanaamondhita
Effects Of Jagged1 On Mirna Expression In Dental Stem Cells, Promphakkon Kulthanaamondhita
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Notch signaling is activated in dental pulp tissues after direct pulp capping treatment in vivo, implying a role in tertiary dentin formation. Furthermore, Notch signaling also participates in periodontal ligament development and maturation. However, its mechanism of action remains to be elucidated. The present study investigated the expression profile of miRNAs in Notch-activated human dental stem pulp stem cells (DPSCs) and periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs), examined their potential cellular targets and validated the functions of miRNAs in modulating the odonto / osteogenic properties. DPSCs and PDLSCs were treated with indirect immobilized Jagged1. The miRNA expression profile was examined using …
Probing The Porphyromonas Gingivalis Nitrosative Stress Response Network, Alexandra Galina
Probing The Porphyromonas Gingivalis Nitrosative Stress Response Network, Alexandra Galina
Theses and Dissertations
Objective: To persist in the oral cavity, the perio-pathogen Porphyromonas gingivalis must have an efficient nitrosative stress response mechanism. To better understand how P. gingivalis responds to nitrite (NO2-) we must determine what genes are involved in the nitrosative stress response network.
Methods: Through genomic screening, a list of genes was generated that were hypothesized to be part of the nitrosative stress response network and believed to be involved in nitrate/nitrite metabolism or redox state of the cells. Protein coding regions were replaced with the ermF sequence by allelic exchange mutagenesis. 15 mutants were created …

Meyer’s proposed chew-in technique also called functionally generated path (FGP) technique, is indicated for the restoration of an edentulous arch that is opposed by natural teeth as it does seem to provide the most accurate method of recording occlusal patterns, also help to minimize the effects of negative factors, and to overcome the deficiencies of articulators. As stated by Rudd and Morrow, this technique is especially suitable for tooth-supported complete dentures, due to inherent stability of tooth-supported record bases helps in recording jaw relationships accurately. Whenever a single complete denture is opposed by natural dentition, problems observed are abrasion of …

Effect Of Simvastatin On Stem Cell Isolated From Apical Papilla (Scap) In Vitro, Paak Rewthamrongsris
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Background and Objective: Simvastatin, known for lipid-lowering, shows promise in modulating stem cell behavior. This research investigates simvastatin's impact on apical papilla stem cells (SCAPs) in vitro. Methods: SCAPs were isolated, characterized, and exposed to varying simvastatin doses. Viability and proliferation were assessed with LIVE/DEAD and MTT assays. Cell cycle and apoptosis were examined via flow cytometry, and migration capacity was evaluated through scratch tests. Alizarin Red S staining and qPCR were used for odonto/osteogenic differentiation analysis. Results: Simvastatin reduced SCAP proliferation on days 3 and 7 and decreased colony size and density. Enhanced apoptosis and increased G0 subpopulation were …

Studying Gene Function In Streptococcus Sanguinis Using Rna-Sequencing Analysis, Ahmed Ismail
Studying Gene Function In Streptococcus Sanguinis Using Rna-Sequencing Analysis, Ahmed Ismail
Theses and Dissertations
The oral cavity hosts hundreds of bacterial species, amongst them are the Streptococci family. More specifically, S. sanguinis is a benign bacteria in the oral cavity to protect the tooth surface from S. mutans. which is a pathogen causing dental caries. While S. sanguinis is harmless in the oral cavity, it becomes pathogenic once entering the bloodstream and causing Infective Endocarditis (IE). To further study S. sanguinis and eventually develop an effective drug to treat IE caused by S. sanguinis, a gene expression study was conducted. In order to study gene expression, RNA-sequencing was conducted, and appropriate methods to remove …

The New York State Dental Journal
Individuals with symptomatic third molar pathologies frequently seek dental care at emergency departments or urgent dental care centers. This is becoming a dental public health problem, when repeated dental emergency appointments are sought for treatment of symptomatic contralateral wisdom teeth. Body: We designed a retrospective review study of adults 18 years and older with an initial dental emergency visit related to third molar pathology at a single dental urgent care center, at the University of Rochester. Conclusion: A sub-optimal oral health is a predictor for future emergency dental visits, due to pathology of remaining third molars.

Diagnosis And Management Of Nasopalatine Duct Cyst: A Report Of Two Cases And Literature Review, Feiyi Sun Dds, Harry Dym Dds
The New York State Dental Journal
The nasopalatine duct cyst (NPDC) is one of the most common non-odontogenic, non-neoplastic developmental cysts. It arises from the epithelial remnants of the nasopalatine duct within the incisive canal and crosses the midline of the anterior maxilla. Most cases are asymptomatic and either are discovered by chance on radiographs or present as a soft tissue swelling, pain, or drainage in the palate. The present study describes the diagnosis and surgical management of two NPDC cases at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Brooklyn Hospital Center.
