This consensus of nomenclature and classification for congenital bicuspid aortic valve and its aortopathy is evidence-based and intended for universal use by physicians (both pediatricians and adults), echocardiographers, advanced cardiovascular imaging specialists, interventional cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, pathologists, geneticists, and researchers spanning these areas of clinical and basic research. In addition, as long as new key and reference research is available, this international consensus may be subject to change based on evidence-based data1.

Periodontitis has recently been defined as a dysbiotic disease caused by an imbalanced oral microbiota. The transition from commensal microbial communities to periodontitis-associated ones requires colonization by specific pathogens, including Porphyromonas gingivalis. We previously reported an antagonistic relationship between Streptococcus cristatus and P. gingivalis. To determine the role of S. cristatus in altering the interactions of P. gingivalis with other oral bacteria in a complex context, we collected dental plaque samples from patients with periodontitis and assigned them to two groups based on the ratios of S. cristatus and P. gingivalis. INTRODUCTION: There is no cause -based treatment for Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ). MRONJ is a morbid condition including exposed, infected bone and mandibular fractures in osteoporotic individuals and metastatic cancers patients treated with nitrogen containing bisphosphonates (NBP). NBPs inhibit farnesyl diphosphate synthase (FDPS) in the mevalonate pathway, depriving osteoclasts and other bone cells of small GTPases necessary for their function and survival. Healing in compromised and complicated bone defects is often prolonged and delayed due to the lack of bioactivity of the fixation device, secondary infections, and associated oxidative stress. Here, we propose amorphous silicon oxynitride (SiONx) as a coating for the fixation devices to improve both bioactivity and bacteriostatic activity and reduce oxidative stress. Voltage-sensitive calcium channels (VSCCs) influence bone structure and function, including anabolic responses to mechanical loading. While the pore-forming (α1) subunit of VSCCs allows Ca2+ influx, auxiliary subunits regulate the biophysical properties of the pore. The α2δ1 subunit influences gating kinetics of the α1 pore and enables mechanically induced signaling in osteocytes; however, the skeletal function of α2δ1 in vivo remains unknown. In this work, we examined the skeletal consequences of deleting Cacna2d1, the gene encoding α2δ1. AIM: Telemedicine has emerged as a potential solution to enhance postoperative follow-up care after dental implant surgery, offering the convenience of remote monitoring and reduced need for in-person visits.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: Participants were randomly assigned to either the telemedicine group (n = 15) or the in-person group (n = 15). In the telemedicine group, patients received remote follow-up care through virtual consultations, during which they could communicate their concerns and share images of the surgical site. Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), caused by is characterized by aberrant inflammation by polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs) in the vaginal lumen. Data from the established murine model shows that despite potent antifungal properties, PMNs fail to clear due to local heparan sulfate that inhibits the interaction between PMNs and , resulting in chronic vaginal immunopathology. To understand the role of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in defense against at the vaginal mucosa, we investigated the NET-forming capacity of PMNs in chronic VVC-susceptible (CVVC-S/C3H) and -resistant (CVVC-R/CD-1) mouse strains. Background: The goal of this in vitro study was to compare three different surfaces: two types of implant surfaces commercially available ([a] smooth/machined and [b] acid-treated surface) versus (c) anodized surface. Discs were manufactured with commercially pure titanium (CP) grade IV, which were subsequently analyzed by scanning microscopy and fibroblastic and osteoblastic cell cultures. Objectives: The goal of this study was to assess the newly formed bone and the remnant biomaterial by comparing four different bone grafts used to treat critical-size defects, associated or not with the non-resorbable membrane.

Materials and methods: Two calvaria critical-size bone defects were created in 50 male Wistar rats. They were divided into blood (G1), autogenous (G2), bioglass (G3), hydroxyapatite (G4), and xenograft (G5) groups, associated or not with e-PTFE. The experimental periods were 15 and 45 days.
