Miniscrews is introduced as absolute anchorage devices in orthodontic treatment. They are efficient in overcoming anchorage loss. The miniscrew implants can be placed at different heights and angles in the positions determined for various clinical requirements. In this study, we used these parameters for determining the changes in stress distribution on the supporting bone and the miniscrews itself using finite element analysis.The aim of this study is to determine changes in stress distribution on the supporting bone and miniscrew implant at different alveolar crestal heights in different angulations using Finite Element Analysis.

Dental implants are an excellent option for replacing missing teeth. Traditional implants have a cylindrical or tapered geometry with threads along the screw length. The lack of proper congruency between the implant and the socket bone can eventually lead to implant failure due to stability loss and failure in osseointegration. To overcome this problem, novel approaches are being evaluated to manufacture customized root implants. This is expected to reduce the bone and soft-tissue trauma and promote a better primary stability. They do not require bone drilling, sinus lifting, bone augmentation or other traumatic procedures.

The efficacy of probiotic mouth rinse in enhancing oral health was investigated through a double-blinded randomized controlled trial involving 45 children aged 12 to 15 over a two-week period. Comparing probiotic mouth rinse, chlorhexidine mouth rinse, and a control group, plaque and gingival accumulation were assessed using established indices. Results indicated both probiotic and chlorhexidine groups exhibited reduced plaque compared to the control, with the probiotic group showing superior reduction in gingival inflammation. These findings suggest the potential of probiotic mouth rinse in improving oral hygiene and overall oral health.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the intricate relationship between periodontal disease (PD) and coronary artery disease (CAD), as evidenced by epidemiological associations. Metalloproteinase inhibitor (TIMP1) plays a pivotal role in cellular signaling, differentiation, cell death, and migration by binding to target metalloproteinases, forming complexes with other molecules (collagenases) to inactivate them. However, the expression of TIMP1 is reduced in both PD and CAD, leading to an upregulation of other metalloproteinases. PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES: Research is an integral part of oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS) residency training. This study aimed to identify the current barriers perceived by OMS residents toward conducting research during training.

METHODS: A cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study was conducted. The survey was distributed to 670 OMS residents across the United States in 2021 and consisted of questions regarding demographics, residency program requirements and resources, and perceived barriers to research. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Fisher's exact tests, Kruskal-Wallis tests, and post hoc Dunn's test with a statistical significance of P < 0.05.

BACKGROUND: Dental Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) relate to a dental patient's subjective experience of their oral health. How practitioners and patients value PROs influences their successful use in practice.

METHODS: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 22 practitioners and 32 patients who provided feedback on using a mobile health (mHealth) platform to collect the pain experience after dental procedures. A themes analysis was conducted to identify implementation barriers and facilitators.

RESULTS: Five themes were uncovered: (1) Sense of Better Care. (2) Tailored Follow-up based on the dental procedure and patient's pain experience. (3) Effective Messaging and Alerts. (4) Usable Digital Platform. …
