Objective: To evaluate the single soft tissue support versus dual tooth-tissue support for mesial implant retained RPD. Materials and Methods: This clinical cross-over study included 10 partially edentulous patients with the only remaining mandibular six anterior teeth. Every patient received two mandibular implants at the 1st premolar region. Two mandibular implants' retained partial overdentures were constructed with two different support concepts, two different designs, opposing a maxillary single denture. Objective: To evaluate the internal adaptation of different milled post materials using microcomputed tomography.Materials and Methods: Forty mandibular first premolar teeth were distributed into four equal groups (n=10). Three groups in which different milled post materials were used in widely flared root canals: group CV; Custom made Vita Enamic posts, group CP; Custom made PEKK posts, group CF; Custom made fiber posts and one group in which ready-made fiber posts were used in normal root canal (group RF). Objective: To evaluate the degree of conversion (DC), and orthodontic bracket shear bond strength (SBS) after the incorporation of 3 wt.% TiF4 into an orthodontic primer. Materials and Methods: According to the concentration of TiF4 within the orthodontic primer, there were two groups: the control (TF0C) and experimental groups (TF3C) (0&3 wt.% TiF4 respectively). Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial efficiency of 2 herbal extracts versus 2.5% sodium hypochlorite and saline in eliminating Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) bacteria within infected primary root canals. Materials and Methods: Forty roots of extracted lower primary molars were obtained and divided into 4 groups according to the type of irrigant: Group 1 (control) NaOCl 2.5%, Group 2 (12.5% turmeric irrigant), and Group 3 (25% propolis irrigant) and Group 4 (saline). Root canals were contaminated with E. faecalis bacteria. Bacterial counts were performed from samples that were taken from each canal pre-irrigation and post-irrigation. Data was analyzed …

Objective: To assess the degree of marginal adaptation of CAD/CAM milled veneers from three different lithium disilicate materials: Upcera Lithium Disilicate CAD, Rosetta SM Lithium Disilicate CAD, and Ivoclar IPS e.max CAD, with a marginal thickness of 0.3mm. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four laminate veneers were milled from lithium disilicate blocks (IPS e.max, Upcera, and Rosetta SM) with a marginal thickness of 0.3mm using a CAD/CAM milling machine (Sirona Cerec MCXL), each group of materials consists of 8 veneers and were cemented to duplicated epoxy dies then a digital microscope was used to assess the marginal adaptation. Materials and Methods: 28 single-rooted mandibular premolars with approximate similarity in shape and size and no cracks or caries were selected for this study. The length of the root was measured from the root apex to the middle point of the cementoenamel junction in the labial surface; it was about (16±1 mm). Objective: To evaluate the effect of different implant-abutment angulations on the fracture resistance of anterior three-unit implant-supported zirconia fixed dental prosthesis. Materials and Methods: Five groups (n=10) were fabricated to represent maxillary anterior three-unit zirconia fixed dental prosthesis supported by two implants with different implant-abutment angulations including group 0o-0o, group 0o-17.5o, group 0o-35o, group 17.5o-17.5o and group 35o-35o. Zirconia FDPs were cemented by self-adhesive resin cement. All specimens were subjected to thermocycling (5000 X 5oC/55oC) and mechanical loading (50 N X 120,000 cycles /1.6Hz). Static loading was applied using the universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. …

Objective: To evaluate cuspal deflection of mesio-occluso-distal (MOD) cavities restored with short fiber-reinforced composite. Materials and Methods: Two different commercially available composite resin restorations; short fiber-reinforced (ever X Posterior GC, Tokyo Japan) and conventional micro-hybrid (G-aenial universal resin composite GC, Tokyo Japan) resin composite restorative material bonded with a universal adhesive (G-Premio BOND GC, Tokyo Japan) were used in the current study. Objective: This study evaluated the effect of deep marginal elevation (DME) using an ion-releasing material, resin-modified glass ionomer, and nano-hybrid flowable composite on the fracture resistance of molars with Class II MOD cavities restored with CAD/CAM ceramic onlays. Materials and Methods: Fifty molar teeth were randomly assigned to one of five groups (n=10/group): Enamel (EN), Cementum (CE), Cention forte (CF), Tetric-N flow (TF), and Resin modified glass ionomer (RM) groups. The MDA Foundation is organizing its fifth Mission of Mercy (MOM) in Flint in June 2024. The event aims to provide dental care to those in need, especially those who are uninsured and unable to afford dental services. The MOM will take place at the Dort Financial Center in Flint from June 13 to 17, offering dental care from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 14 and 15. This initiative has been critical in delivering dental services and improving the lives of those who lack access to proper oral healthcare.

This article addresses a rare postoperative complication of persistent bleeding and “liver clot” coagulum following placement of a permanent tooth pre-formed metal crown, an extraction of a carious permanent molar, and an accelerated exfoliating primary molar in an individual with medical compromise, all in young patients. Mild bleeding following dental procedures or tooth exfoliation is not an unusual occurrence; however, persistent bleeding is an uncommon event for patients. A review of literature revealed 15 reports of liver clots following adult dental procedures, but no documented cases of liver clot formation in young patients. The purpose of this article was to …

This thesis explores the concept of the Model Minority Myth (MMM) and its impact on minority groups such as Asian American communities. It discusses how the MMM is one of the many reasons why health disparities such as oral health disparities, may exist for these groups, particularly in the context of White-majority places like the city of Portland and Multnomah County in Oregon. Many advanced cancer models, such as patient-derived xenografts (PDXs), offer significant benefits in their preservation of the native tumor's heterogeneity and susceptibility to treatments, but face significant barriers to use in their reliance on a rodent host for propagation and screening. PDXs remain difficult to implement in vitro, particularly in configurations that enable both detailed cellular analysis and high-throughput screening (HTS). Complex multilineage co-cultures with stromal fibroblasts, endothelium, and other cellular and structural components of the tumor microenvironment (TME) further complicate ex vivo implementation. The North Dakota Department of Health (DoH)a Oral Health Program (OHP)b has established a school-based dental sealant program, (SEAL!ND)c , which has been providing dental sealants, fluoride varnish applications, oral health education and dental screenings and referrals for students throughout North Dakota dating back to 2012. All services occur in the school during school hours. School-based sealant programs are a highly effective way to deliver preventive oral health services and dental sealants to children less likely to receive private dental care. Background: American Indian (AI), Alaska Native (AN), and Native Hawaiian (NH) populations report higher rates of diabetes, poorer oral health, and fewer dental visits than their peers. The authors aimed to identify relationships between oral health and dental visits and diabetes diagnosis among AI, AN, and NH elders. Methods: Data were obtained from a national survey of AI, AN, and NH elders 55 years and older (April 2014-2017) and included 16,136 respondents. Frequencies and c2 tests were used to assess the relationship between oral health and dental visits, and diabetes. Results: Nearly one-half of the elders reported receiving a …
