Purpose: Millennials have unique needs as learners and have come to expect the use of technology in education. Utilizing technology to implement formative virtual objective structured clinical examinations (vOSCEs) may engage millennial students due to the non-linear nature and active pedagogy while also preparing them for provisional or full licensing exams. The purpose of this study was to determine what implications there may be for future formative vOSCE use in dental hygiene programs by assessing dental hygiene student and clinic faculty experience with vOSCEs.

Purpose: Dental hygiene students face an exorbitant amount of stress during their educational pursuits. This has only been compounded by the added stress of the COVID-19 pandemic. Students may benefit from the practice of meditation in managing their stress levels during these trying times. This study analyzes the effectiveness of meditation as a stress reliever for dental hygiene students as they navigate their education during the pandemic and the effects it may have on perception of stress, academic achievement, and physical health.

Purpose: Ergonomics plays an important role in identifying and reducing biomechanical stress and preventing musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries by creating a better fit between physical requirements and work environments. This study examined the benefits of implementing an interprofessional education (IPE) module in a dental hygiene curriculum with a dental hygienist (DH) and occupational therapist (OT) teaching and assessing students’ ergonomics.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to examine if participation in an interactive virtual patient (VP) module increased dental hygiene students’ knowledge in caring for individuals with developmental disability (DD) and if participation in an interactive, VP module would impact dental hygiene students’ perception of difficulty in caring for individuals with DD.

Methods: The study utilized a mixed-methods study design with a convenience sample composed of eighteen (N=18) dental hygiene students. Different body systems (epidermis, respiratory tract, cornea, oral cavity, and gastrointestinal tract) are in continuous direct contact with innocuous and/or potentially harmful external agents, exhibiting dynamic and highly selective interaction throughout the epithelia, which function as both a physical and chemical protective barrier. Resident immune cells in the epithelia are constantly challenged and must distinguish among antigens that must be either tolerated or those to which a response must be mounted for. Failure of resolution pathways in periodontitis is reflected in levels of specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators (SPMs) and SPM pathway markers but their relationship with the subgingival microbiome is unclear. This study aimed to analyze and integrate lipid mediator level, SPM receptor gene expression and subgingival microbiome data in subjects with periodontitis vs. healthy controls. The study included 13 periodontally healthy and 15 periodontitis subjects that were evaluated prior to or after non-surgical periodontal therapy. Rapid palatal expansion (RPE) is a gold standard treatment for posterior unilateral and bilateral crossbites or limited buccal overjet in patients with constricted maxilla. Midpalatal suture fusion is a limitation for obtaining the skeletal results and avoiding dental side effects. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the viability and adhesion of human gingival fibroblasts (HGFs) on different implant abutment materials with specific surface modifications.

This study synthesized a chitosan-based scaffold incorporated with trichostatin A (TSA), an epigenetic modifier molecule, using a freeze-drying technique to achieve promising bone regeneration potential. The scaffolds with various biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) proportions: 0%, 10%, 20%, and 40% were characterized. The addition of BCP improved the scaffolds' mechanical properties and delayed the degradation rate. From all physicochemical parameters, 20% BCP scaffold matched the appropriate bone scaffold requirements and was selected for further development. The proper concentration of TSA was also tested. วัตถุประสงค์ของงานวิจัยเพื่อศึกษาสมบัติเชิงกลของซิลิโคนอีลาสโตเมอร์ในงานประดิษฐ์ ใบหน้าและขากรรไกรชนิด VST-50 และ M511 ที ่ใส่เม็ดสีและไม่ใส่เม็ดสี ก่อนและหลังได้รับการ แช่ในน้ำที ่ทำให้ร้อนด้วยพลังงานจากเตาไมโครเวฟโดยจำลองการใช้เตาไมโครเวฟ 18 เดือน ชิ ้นงานตัวอย่าง 80 ชิ ้นต่อซิลิโคนแต่ละชนิด ทั ้งหมด 160 ชิ ้น จัดเป็น 2 กลุ ่มตามการเติมเม็ดสีคือ ชิ ้นงานที ่ไม่มีสีและชิ ้นงานมีสี โดยเป็นเม็ดสีชนิดซิลิโคน และแบ่งออกเป็นกลุ ่มควบคุมและกลุ ่มเข้า เตาไมโครเวฟ รูปร่างชิ ้นงานถูกขึ ้นรูปตามมาตรฐาน ASTM D412 และ D624 ทั ้งหมดมี 8 กลุ่ม ย่อย (n=10) ต่อซิลิโคนแต่ละชนิด การนำชิ ้นงานเข้าไมโครเวฟร่วมกับการแช่น้ำ เป็นเวลา 6 นาที ที่ 660 วัตต์ 18 ครั ้ง เป็นการจำลองการใช้งานเดือนละ 1 ครั ้ง อุณหภูมิของน้ำภายหลังการเข้า ไมโครเวฟคือ 60 องศาเซลเซียส จากการวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนแบบ 2 ทาง (a=.5) พบว่า ซิลิโคน VST-50 ชนิดของเม็ดสีมีผลต่อความทนต่อแรงดึงและความแข็งของชิ ้นงานซิลิโคนอย่างมี นัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (P<.001) ทั ้งกลุ ่มควบคุมและเข้าเตาไมโครเวฟ ขณะที ่การใช้เตาไมโครเวฟมีผล ต่อความทนต่อการฉีกขาดอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (P<.05) ทั ้งกลุ ่มไม่มีสีและมีสี และทั ้งสอง ปัจจัยไม่มีผลต่อร้อยละการยืดตัว ขณะที ่ซิลิโคน M511 มีปฏิสัมพันธ์กันระหว่างปัจจัยการผสมเม็ด สีและการเข้าไมโครเวฟอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติสำหรับความแข็ง (P<.05)

การศึกษาในห้องปฏิบัติการนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาประสิทธิภาพในการคืนกลับแร่ธาตุบนรอยผุ จำลองชั้นเนื้อฟันของการฉายแสงและไม่ฉายแสงภายหลังการทาสารละลายซิลเวอร์ไดเอมีนฟลูออไรด์ (SDF) ที่ ระยะเวลาแตกต่างกัน โดยนำชิ้นฟันตัวอย่างที่ได้จากการตัดแบ่งฟันกรามแท้แต่ละซี่เป็น 4 ชิ้นมาสร้างรอยผุ จำลองบนชั้นเนื้อฟันและสุ่มเข้า 4 กลุ่มทดลองคือ กลุ่ม SDF60 (n=10) ทา SDF 60 วินาที กลุ่ม SDF10 (n=10) ทา SDF 10 วินาที กลุ่ม SDF60+LC (n=10) ทา SDF 60 วินาทีร่วมกับการฉายแสงเป็นเวลา 20 วินาที และ กลุ่ม SDF10+LC (n=10) ทา SDF 10 วินาทีร่วมกับการฉายแสงเป็นเวลา 20 วินาที จากนั้นนำมาผ่านสภาวะ ช่องปากจำลองที่มีการจำลองสภาวะการสูญเสียและคืนกลับแร่ธาตุด้วยเชื้อแบคทีเรียเป็นเวลา 7 วัน ชิ้นฟัน ตัวอย่างก่อนทดลองและหลังทดลองถูกนำมาสแกนด้วยเครื่องเอ็กซ์เรย์คอมพิวเตอร์ระดับไมโครเมตร (MicroCT) เพื่อวิเคราะห์ค่าร้อยละการเปลี่ยนแปลงความลึกรอยผุเฉลี่ย (%LD change) และร้อยละการเปลี่ยนแปลง ความหนาแน่นแร่ธาตุเฉลี่ย (%MD change) ผลการทดลองพบว่า ปัจจัยการฉายแสงและปัจจัยระยะเวลาในการ ทาสารมีผลต่อประสิทธิภาพในการคืนกลับแร่ธาตุของ SDF แต่ทั้งสองปัจจัยไม่มีปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างกัน (p=0.388 และ p=0.576) เมื่อเปรียบเทียบผล %LD change และ %MD change พบว่ากลุ่มที่มีการฉายแสง (กลุ่ม SDF60+LC และ SDF10+LC) ส่งเสริมให้สาร SDF มีประสิทธิภาพในการคืนกลับแร่ธาตุสูงกว่ากลุ่มที่ไม่ฉายแสง (กลุ่ม SDF60 และ SDF10) (p=0.008 และ p=0.026) ส่วนกลุ่มที่ทา SDF เป็นเวลา 60 วินาที (กลุ่ม SDF60 และ SDF60+LC) มีประสิทธิภาพในการคืนกลับแร่ธาตุดีกว่ากลุ่มที่ทา SDF เป็นเวลา 10 …
