International Arab Journal of Dentistry
Rehabilitating the maxilla in the patient who has had surgical resection for mucormycosis poses a distinctive set of anatomical, surgical, and prosthetic challenges. The extensive maxillary bone loss after aggressive debridement often makes traditional implant-supported prosthetic options impossible. In these circumstances, zygomatic implants have proven to be a predictable, graftless solution, especially in patients with extremely atrophic maxillae. Where the bone loss is severe, the quad zygoma procedure—two implants for each zygomatic arch—is possible to support full arch rehabilitation with a fixed prosthesis. This report presents the successful rehabilitation of oral function and appearance in a patient with post-mucormycosis edentulous …

The success of pulp therapy in primary teeth depends on accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. Periapical inflammation due to bacterial infection or pulpal necrosis can result in granulation tissue and may activate epithelial rests of Malassez, leading to a periapical cyst. In large cysts, especially in children, marsupialization is preferred to preserve developing teeth and minimize damage to surrounding structures. This case report describes an 8-year-old presenting with spontaneous pain in the lower right jaw. Radiographic examination revealed a round welldefined radiolucency over 1 cm around tooth #84 with root canal treatment and #85 with pulpotomy, with dental bud displacement. …

A Clinical Investigation Of The Correlation Of Black Stains With Oral Cavity Ph And Dental Caries Presence In Children: A Cross-Sectional Study, Maguy Sfeir, Nada Chedid
International Arab Journal of Dentistry
Introduction: Black stains (BS) on teeth often lead to dental visits in children due to their esthetic impact. Beyond cosmetic concerns, black stains may play a role in oral health, potentially suggesting a lower risk of dental caries through the regulation of oral microbiota and pH levels. Understanding the association of black stains with oral pH and caries presence can offer insights into protective and preventive strategies in pediatric dentistry.
Objectives: the purpose of this study is to assess the correlation between black stains, oral cavity pH, and the presence of caries in a sample of 6-to 8- …
The Impact Of Scan Spans On The Accuracy Of Three Intraoral Scanners: A Comparative Study, Lynn Labban, Louis Hardan, Cynthia Kassis
The Impact Of Scan Spans On The Accuracy Of Three Intraoral Scanners: A Comparative Study, Lynn Labban, Louis Hardan, Cynthia Kassis
International Arab Journal of Dentistry
Objectives: In modern dentistry, intraoral scanners (IOSs) have become indispensable tools for capturing accurate digital impressions of patients’ dentition, facilitating the design and fabrication of various dental restorations. However, the accuracy of these scanners can be influenced by factors such as scan span, which refers to the extent of the area scanned during impression taking. Understanding the impact of scan span on scanner accuracy is crucial for optimizing clinical outcomes and ensuring the reliability of digital models. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the accuracy, encompassing both trueness and precision, of intraoral scanners (IOSs) across different …

Color Stability Of Conventional, 3d-Printed, And Milled Denture Teeth After Immersion In Coloring Agents: An In Vitro Study, Dany Nassif, Nancy Chemaly, Rim Bourgi, Carole Abi-Ghosn, Louis Hardan, Jihad Fakhouri
International Arab Journal of Dentistry
Objectives: This study investigates the color stability of denture teeth made from different materials when subjected to various staining solutions.
Methods: Forty-five A1 shade upper central incisors were divided into three groups: prefabricated, 3D printed, and milled denture teeth (N=45). Each group was further divided into three subgroups, with teeth immersed in coffee, wine, and artificial saliva for up to 120 days (n=5). ∆E values for color change were measured using an Optishade colorimeter.
Results: The type of teeth, type of solution, and immersion time had a significant effect on color stability (p < 0.001). Interactions between the three variables were all significant (p < 0.001). Conventional denture teeth showed slight color changes with saliva (ΔE = 1.256 by day 120), moderate changes with wine (ΔE = 2.893), and more significant changes with coffee (ΔE = 5.208). Milled denture teeth exhibited no color changes with saliva, noticeable changes with wine (ΔE = 5.359), and moderate changes with coffee (ΔE = 3.137). 3D printed denture teeth showed no color changes with saliva, but increased changes with wine (ΔE = 2.533) and highly significant changes with coffee (ΔE = 10.546). Coffee consistently caused the highest ΔE values, especially in 3D printed teeth.
Conclusions: The study …

This case report details the comprehensive treatment of a large radicular cyst in a 48-yearold male with a five-year history of swelling and pus discharge in the upper anterior jaw. Clinical and radiographic examinations, including CBCT, revealed a significant periapical lesion involving multiple teeth. The multidimensional treatment began with meticulous endodontic therapy for teeth 12, 11, 21, and 22, followed by Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) application to enhance healing. Surgical cystic enucleation was performed under local anesthesia, involving flap elevation and cyst removal, confirmed by biopsy as a radicular cyst. Apicoectomy and retrograde filling with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) were executed. …

International Arab Journal of Dentistry
The present case report epitomises the successful non-surgical management of a large cyst-like periapical tunnel lesion of endodontic origin due to trauma using Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair technique. Endodontic orthograde treatment (and re-treatment) was performed in association with triple antibiotic paste as an intra-canal medication in a sixteen-year boy. Preoperative CBCT as well as at the 22 months CBCT followup were used to compare the evolution of the healing of the lesion. Accurate diagnosis in combination with non-surgical orthograde endodontic treatment can lead to can lead to complete healing of large lesions without any need of surgical intervention.

Introduction: Stainless Steel Crowns (SSC) are not easily replaced by Zirconia Prefabricated Crowns (ZPC) because of their adaptation problem and risk of fracture and loosening.
Objectives: To assess and compare the trueness of milled zirconia and milled hybrid ceramic crowns designed for primary teeth restoration to a digitally designed file.
Methods: The fourteen extracted primary molars were scanned using an intraoral scanner to obtain digital files of the teeth. The digital files were imported into the Design dental software (TDS) and used to design and mill zirconia and hybrid ceramic crowns using a 4-axis milling machine: 14 …
