Comparative Evaluation Of Irrigants On Sealer Penetration: An In Vitro Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy Study, Savani Purohit, Priyanka Zinge, Roshan Samuel, Aayush Bhatt, Rucha Pawar

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Objectives: Effective smear layer removal enhances sealer penetration in endodontics. Chelating agents vary in their efficacy, influencing treatment outcomes. In this study, the depth of penetration of AH Plus and Bio-C root canal sealers into dentinal structures was analysed using confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), following the application of four final irrigants: 17% EDTA, 20% citric acid, 0.2% chitosan, and 5% fulvic acid.

Methods: Ninety-six single-rooted human premolars were prepared and irrigated with sodium hypochlorite. Final irrigation used one of four agents: 17% EDTA, 20% citric acid, 0.2% chitosan, or 5% fulvic acid, followed by sonic activation. Canals were obturated …

Study Of The Changes In Vestibular Bone Plate Absorption Values After Implant Placement Under Immediate Loading For A Period Of 5 Months Using Cbct: An In Vivo Study, Hassen Merzouk, Samir Habibi, Ben Ali Boutabout

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Introduction: The study focuses on the success and durability of dental implants, which depends heavily on the bone surrounding them. Changes in this bone affect how the implant looks and functions. The researchers aimed to use CBCT, a modern three-dimensional imaging tool, to accurately measure changes in the thickness of the bone plate on the cheek side (vestibular bone plate) around implants placed in the lower jaw (mandible). Specifically, they looked at bone changes five months after placing implants that were immediately loaded (meaning they were used for chewing right away) in 15 patients who had missing molars or premolars. …

Objectives: To compare the obturation density of four root canal sealers—AH Plus, Bioactive RCS, a novel bioactive glass-based bioceramic sealer, and zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE) using a standardized single-cone obturation technique.

Methods: Forty extracted premolars were endodontically prepared to a 15 mm working length and divided into four groups (n=10). Each group was obturated with the same F2-sized guttapercha cones and one of the sealers being evaluated. Weight variations pre-obturation and postobturation, and after complete sealer setting were used to calculate obturation density. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey’s post hoc test (p < 0.05) to test for group differences.

Results: The bioactive glass-based sealer …

Cigarettes Versus Electronic Cigarettes: The Effects On The Oral Cavity, Paolo Boffano, Muhammad Ruslin, Andrea Melle

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Objectives: To date, there is a large amount of scientific evidence on the effects of smoke-free products on oral health, highlighting their potential in reducing the risk of causing and progressing smoking-related diseases. In contrast to the last statement, other studies confirm the cytotoxic and tissue effects of nicotine-containing e-cigarette liquid. The purpose of this study was to review the literature and to evaluate the damage caused by cigarette smoking in comparison with that caused by e-cigarettes.

Methods: Our study considered the consultation of the bibliographic databases “Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System”. The research was carried out by using …

The Influence Of Presurgical Mandibular Incisor Inclination On The Stability Of Surgical Class Iii Patients: A Systematic Review, Houda Ousli, Youssef Oualalou, Fatima Zaoui, Asmae Bahoum

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Objective: This study aims to assess the impact of presurgical mandibular incisor inclination on the stability of surgical class III patients.

Methods: An electronic search was conducted on PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, EBSCO, and the Cochrane Library from 2014 to February 2025, initially identifying 351 publications relevant to our review.

Results: Four retrospective studies were included in this review, with the risk of bias ranging from low to serious. A preoperative retroinclined incisal axis leads to an increased post-surgical overjet and inadequate interincisal contact, indicating that retroclined mandibular incisors may affect skeletal stability. However, Overcorrection of mandibular incisor inclination …

A Comprehensive Analysis Of The Accurate Diagnosis Of Chronic Non-Bacterial Osteomyelitis Of The Jaw In Young Patients: An Assessment Of Clinical And Laboratory Data, Alexander Yu Kugushev, Andrey V. Lopatin, Suzan Dagher

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Objectives: Chronic non-bacterial osteomyelitis (CNO) is a rare autoinflammatory bone disorder predominantly affecting pediatric and adolescent populations. The clinical presentation is heterogeneous, with persistent pain and swelling representing the most frequent and often initial symptoms. These manifestations are commonly localized to the mandible, although involvement of other skeletal sites, including long bones, clavicle, and vertebrae, may occur in more advanced cases. Beyond localized symptoms, some patients exhibit mild systemic features such as low-grade fever, fatigue, or malaise; however, these systemic signs are generally less pronounced than those observed in infectious osteomyelitis. The diagnostic evaluation of CNO is intricate and necessitates …

The Effect Of Loading On The Success Of Dental Implants After Immediate Extraction Compared To Delayed Dental Implants: A Systematic Review, Hassen Merzouk, Samir Habibi, Ben Ali Boutabout

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Introduction: The study focuses on dental implants, which are used to replace missing teeth. A key decision in implant dentistry is when to place the implant relative to tooth extraction. This review compares two main approaches: immediate implant placement (placing the implant during the same surgery as tooth removal) and delayed implant placement (placing the implant after the extraction site has healed, typically 6 to 12 months later).

Objectives: The study aims to compare the success rates and complications associated with these two-timing strategies, especially concerning the implant’s ability to withstand chewing forces. The primary objective was to compare post-extraction …
