This study aims to assess the prevalence of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and its oral health-related factors in elderly dental patients at Geriatric dentistry clinic and Prosthodontic clinic of Faculty of Dentistry, Total 248 dental patients aged 60 years and above were recruit. Average age of participants was 68.68 years with 73.0 % female. Cognitive functions were assessed by Montreal Cognitive Assessment Thai version (MoCA-T). Individual data were obtained by self-reported interview. Oral examinations were evaluated by a dentist. The prevalence of MCI was found 29.4% in elderly dental patients and was higher than among general elders. Oral health-related factors …

Oral Health-Related Quality Of Life And Related Factors In The Elderly Patients Who Received Dental Treatment, Teerawut Tatiyapongpaiboon

This thesis is a cross-sectional study which explores underlying determinants of elderly patients. The study examines related factor that impaired Oral Health-related Quality of life (OHRQoL) and analyzes the characteristics of elderly patients at our clinic. 46 participants are patients who completed dental treatment more than 6 months during May 2016 to December 2018. Underlying determinants information were recorded by interview, patient chart review and oral examination. There were collected self-evaluation and Oral Impacts on Daily Performances (OIDP). Descriptive statistics was used to describe the characteristics of patients. Spearman correlation and Kruskal-Wallis test at P-value < 0.05 were performed. From the results, the participant’s OIDP scores showed the majority in no severity and no more than 2 impacts activities. The major activities that were impacted were eating activity and speaking activity due to ill-fitting dentures but less impacts in psychological and social performance. There was poor denture satisfaction that impaired participant’s OHRQoL. However, there were differences between dentist and patient evaluation. The authors suggest that the dental treatment should focus on the recall system, the frequency of dental recall visits, procedures to successful oral hygiene instruction and skills to handle the denture problems.

Objectives: To investigate genetic mutations, oro-dental features, tooth ultrastructures, and characteristics of total-etch adhesives (Optibond FL; Kerr) and self-etch adhesives (Clearfill SE Bond; Kuraray) applied on the teeth of the patients who affected with syndromic osteogenesis imperfecta and dentiongenesis imperfecta(DGI), compared with the controls. Methods: Three patients were diagnosed with osteogenesis imperfecta and dentinogenesis imperfecta at Faculty of Medicine, Clinical, radiographic, and laboratory examination were performed. The aim of this study was to compare diagnostic accuracy in proximal caries detection between bitewing radiographs exported from PACS software and taken with a smartphone viewed in a smartphone display. A total of 200 proximal surfaces from digital bitewing radiographs were included in this study. Images of all radiographs were captured from a medical-grade and a common display by an iPhone 8 Plus and stored as JPEG files. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect and proper dosage of oral vitamin C supplement on post-extraction wound healing. Methods: This study was a split mouth, double-blind, randomized-controlled clinical trial of 42 patients who underwent symmetric bilateral non-infected premolars extraction. The patients were randomly divided into 3 groups (14 patients for each group); 1.placebo vs vitamin C 600 mg/d, 2.placebo vs vitamin C 1,500 mg/d and 3.vitamin C 600 mg/d vs vitamin C 1,500 mg/d. Purpose: To investigate the correlation between panoramic radiographic indices and osteoporosis, and to determine whether digital panoramic radiographs could be used as a screening tool for the diagnosis of osteoporosis in Thai postmenopausal women. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study of sixty Thai postmenopausal women with and without osteoporosis. The subjects were divided into three groups based on diagnosis by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA): normal, osteopenia, and osteoporosis equally in each group. The conventional fixed orthodontic appliances have been used to treat number of patients effectively for a long time. However, the popularity of using self-ligating brackets has increased considerably over the last few years. Many advantages of using self-ligating brackets have proposed. Background/objectives This randomized controlled crossover clinical trial aimed to compare the anesthetic efficacy between intraosseous and buccal infiltration techniques as a primary anesthesia for mandibular first molars. Materials and methods Twenty adult subjects randomly received intraosseous injection of 1.7 ml 4% articaine with 1:100,000 epinephrine or buccal infiltration of 3.4 ml 4% articaine with 1:100,000 epinephrine at 2 separate appointments. Objective: To test the vertical and horizontal tensile forces of the locking part of a novel Unassisted Mandibular Advancement (UMA) Splint. Materials and methods: Twenty samples, each comprising a lower piece and an upper piece with an expansion screw, were prepared. Background/objectives: To evaluate the mechanical and physical properties of a self-cured methyl methacrylate (MMA)-based orthodontic base-plate material after 50°C water immersion in ultrasonic bath and conventional monomer reduction methods. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate developmental stages of the radius bone and compare it with the chronological age of Thai population. Methods: Three hundred hand and wrist radiographs (150 males, 150 females) of subjects (age 7-20 years) were retrospectively collected. The developmental stages of the distal end of the radius bone were modified from Tanner-Whitehouse 3 and categorized into 4 stages: 1) non-capping, 2) capping, 3) partial fusion and 4) complete fusion. Objective: To investigate and compare the characteristics of human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) among 3 different stem cell sources in periodontium; periodontal ligament (PDL) tissue, marginal gingival tissue (MG), and supra-crestal gingival connective tissue (SG). Materials and Methods: PDL-MSCs, MG-MSCs, and SG-MSCs were obtained from 4 subjects with healthy periodontal condition. การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาอัตราการอยู่รอดของฟันน้ำนมที่ได้รับการรักษาพัลเพคโตมี โดยใช้เครื่องรูทซีเอ็กซ์กำหนดความยาวทำงาน ภายใต้การดมยาสลบและการใช้ยาชาเฉพาะที่ และศึกษาปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อการอยู่รอดของฟันน้ำนมที่ได้รับการรักษาพัลเพคโตมี โดยทำการศึกษาย้อนหลังจากข้อมูลจากเวชระเบียนของผู้ป่วยเด็กอายุต่ำกว่า 5 ปี ที่มารับการรักษาที่คณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2550 - 2559 และมีฟันที่ได้รับการรักษาพัลเพคโตมีภายใต้การดมยาสลบหรือการใช้ยาชาเฉพาะที่อย่างน้อย 1 ซี่ในช่องปาก โดยกำหนดให้ความล้มเหลวของการรักษาพัลเพคโตมีคือฟันต้องได้รับการถอนหรือรักษารากฟันซ้ำในภายหลังเนื่องจากการรักษาพัลเพคโตมีล้มเหลว และวันที่ได้รับการวินิจฉัยให้ถูกถอนหรือรักษารากฟันซ้ำเป็นวันที่สิ้นสุดการติดตามการรักษา การศึกษาครั้งนี้ประเมินอัตราการอยู่รอดโดยใช้สถิติแคแพลน-ไมเออร์และวิเคราะห์ปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อการอยู่รอดโดยใช้สถิติล็อค-แรงค์และตัวแบบถดถอยค็อกซ์ ผลการศึกษาพบว่ามีฟันน้ำนมที่ถูกคัดเลือกเข้ามาในการศึกษาทั้งหมด 272 ซี่ และเมื่อติดตามผลการรักษาเป็นเวลา 5 ปีหลังการรักษาพบว่ามีฟันน้ำนมทั้งหมด 25 ซี่ที่ถูกถอนหรือรักษารากฟันซ้ำเนื่องจากการรักษาพัลเพคโตมีล้มเหลว และมีอัตราการอยู่รอดของฟันที่ได้รับการรักษาภายใต้การดมยาสลบและการใช้ยาชาเฉพาะที่เท่ากับร้อยละ 81.4 และ 87.4 ตามลำดับ ซึ่งไม่แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p≥0.05) ผลการวิเคราะห์ตัวแบบถดถอยค็อกซ์พบว่าการมีเงาดำบริเวณปลายรากหรือง่ามรากฟันในภาพรังสีก่อนการรักษาเป็นปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการอยู่รอดของฟันที่ได้รับการรักษาพัลเพคโตมีที่ระยะเวลา 5 ปีหลังการรักษา (HRadj= 3.95, 95%CI = 1.31-11.86) การศึกษานี้แสดงให้เห็นว่าการรักษาฟันน้ำนมด้วยวิธีพัลเพคโตมีเป็นวิธีที่สามารถเก็บรักษาฟันน้ำนมที่ผุลุกลามถึงเนื้อเยื่อในไว้ในช่องปากได้นานและมีอัตราการอยู่รอดที่สูงทั้งในการรักษาภายใต้การดมยาสลบและการใช้ยาชาเฉพาะที่

Statement of problem. Performance of adhesive and resin luting cements used to bond zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate ceramics (ZLS) to dentin has not been well established. Purpose. To examine microshear bond strength (µSBS) of etch-and-rinse adhesive system, universal adhesive and self-adhesive resin cement that were used to bond ZLS to dentin. Material and Methods. This study aimed to determine the effect of polishing systems, forces and durations on the surface roughness and phase transformation of zirconia. 72 pieces of fully sintered zirconia size 7 x 5 x 4 mm were fabricated with CAD/CAM, then divided into nine groups depending on the polishing systems and forces. This study was to assess the expression of Bcl2a1 and Cxcl9 genes in soft tissues covering bone grafted with demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft (DFDBA) and deproteinized bovine bone mineral (DBBM) in comparison with ones covering without grafting. The animals were randomly separated into three groups of treatment. Calvarial defect models were created on parietal bones. Bare defect models without bone graft as a control group.
