Covenantal ethics is a living system for living systems. We humans are not simple, isolated individuals living stagnant, dead lives. Rather we are immersed in a complex system of living, glowing and developing interpersonal relationships with others. Philosophy in general and ethics in particular are often looked upon as dead or dormant entities. Covenantal ethics is neither. It is a living approach to the philosophy of ethics that recognizes the dynamic system in which we live. Our world recently welcomed a new millennium. Starting with some basic distinctions, i.e. the distinction between an ethics of human self-fulfilment ,of individual and social values and of virtues on one hand, and an ethics of individual rights, of obligation and of social justice on the other, this paper explores the manifold scenario of the problems of prenatal diagnosis with respect to these different aspects of ethical analysis. Religious Attitudes Toward Cloning: A Tale Of Two Creatures, Dena S. Davis

This Essay offers one analytic structure with which to approach the study of religious responses to cloning and suggests that, whereas the negative reactions are tied to a Frankenstein approach--that is, one which uses all the horror of that myth to express our fears about humans getting into the creation business--the more positive reactions express what I will call the Golem approach, based on a lesser-known legend.
