Medication related errors are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. In Brazil, most errors are related to prescribing, preparing, and administering medications. One way to deal with this barrier to safe care is through assessment and education of medication calculation dosage skills. After reviewing numerous peer reviewed journals and personal examples, the following paper reveals how these traits – love, compassion, joy, peace, patience, humility, and integrity – are beneficial within the nursing profession. The paper defines the mentioned characteristics, shows how they can be used and implemented within the nursing practice, demonstrates how their implementation leads to greater patient care, and then compares these traits and actions to the character and person of Christ.

Introduction. The majority of pediatric emergency patients are seen in mixed-age emergency departments and triaged by general emergency nurses. Educational methods for teaching pediatric triage education to general emergency nurses have not been well studied, and previous studies of the use of the Emergency Severity Index in children have been performed primarily in centers that are high volume for pediatrics. Methods. A repeated measures, randomized crossover study comparing two different methods of pediatric triage education was conducted. It is a developmental neuroplasticity which derives from birth causing structural and functional changes in the eye and brain. Skin cancer is an important topic in the United States due to the recent increase in cost and mortality. The purpose of this evidence-based practice (EBP) project was to determine if the early implementation of a multicomponent sun prevention program positively impacted kindergarten and first grade students’ knowledge and behavioral intentions to practice safe sun techniques after a one week period. Kotter’s Model of Change and the ACE Star model were utilized to guide this EBP project. It is estimated that 91 Americans die every day due to opioid overdoses, with at least half of those overdoses involving an opioid prescription (CDC, 2016d). To address this issue, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (USDHHS) has initiated an opioid initiative, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released a clinical guideline, both of which include a focus on increasing use of naloxone. Concept-based curricula are being implemented in nursing education as a means to shift the emphasis from content to an emphasis on concepts and conceptual learning (Giddens & Brady, 2007). This paradigm shift requires concomitant changes in how faculty teach and how students learn.
