Background: Early identification of patients with acute ischemic strokes due to large vessel occlusions (LVO) is critical. We propose a simple risk score model to predict LVO. Method: The proposed scale (Pomona Scale) ranges from 0 to 3 and includes 3 items: gaze deviation, expressive aphasia, and neglect. We reviewed a cohort of all acute stroke activation patients between February 2014 and January 2016. The predictive performance of the Pomona Scale was determined and compared with several National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) cutoffs (≥4, ≥6, ≥8, and ≥10), the Los Angeles Motor Scale (LAMS), the Cincinnati Prehospital Stroke …

Radiation Therapy In Metastatic Neuroblastoma, Meenu Gupta, Anupam Dhasmana Jan 2018

Radiation Therapy In Metastatic Neuroblastoma, Meenu Gupta, Anupam Dhasmana

School of Medicine Publications

Neuroblastoma is the commonest extracranial solid tumor in children, and metastasis at presentation is seen in more than 50% of cases. The role of radiotherapy as a palliative modality in patients with advanced neuroblastoma provides better symptomatic relief. Palliative radiotherapy dose schedules can be given either in single hypofractionation from 4 to 8 Gy or fractionated radiotherapy that can range from 21 to 30.6 Gy. Doseresponse relationship trend has been reported in the palliative setting of bone metastasis. Because of the proximity of tumor to critical organs, serious adverse effects can be avoided with conformal techniques. Although currently there is …

Hybrid Privacy-Preserving Clinical Decision Support System In Fog-Cloud Computing, Ximeng Liu, Robert H. Deng, Yang Yang, Ngoc Hieu Tran, Shangping Zhong Jan 2018

Hybrid Privacy-Preserving Clinical Decision Support System In Fog-Cloud Computing, Ximeng Liu, Robert H. Deng, Yang Yang, Ngoc Hieu Tran, Shangping Zhong

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

In this paper, we propose a framework for hybrid privacy-preserving clinical decision support system in fog cloud computing, called HPCS. In HPCS, a fog server uses a lightweight data mining method to securely monitor patients' health condition in real-time. The newly detected abnormal symptoms can be further sent to the cloud server for high-accuracy prediction in a privacy-preserving way. Specifically, for the fog servers, we design a new secure outsourced inner-product protocol for achieving secure lightweight single-layer neural network. Also, a privacy-preserving piecewise polynomial calculation protocol allows cloud server to securely perform any activation functions in multiple-layer neural network. Moreover, …

A Lightweight Policy Preserving Ehr Sharing Scheme In The Cloud, Zuobin Ying, Lu Wei, Qi Li, Ximeng Liu, Jie Cui Jan 2018

A Lightweight Policy Preserving Ehr Sharing Scheme In The Cloud, Zuobin Ying, Lu Wei, Qi Li, Ximeng Liu, Jie Cui

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a digital health documentary. It contains not only the health-related records but also the personal sensitive information. Therefore, how to reliably share EHR through the cloud is a challenging issue. Ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE) is a promising cryptography prototype, which can achieve fine-grained access control as well as one-to-many encryption. In CP-ABE, access policy is attached to the ciphertext, and however, the access policy is not protected, which will also cause some privacy leakage. In this paper, we propose a policy preserving EHR system on the basis of CP-ABE. Specifically, we designed an algorithm, which …

Objectives

Postoperative pain management is of utmost interest for patients undergoing orthognathic surgery. Currently, there is a lack of information regarding process and outcome parameters of postoperative pain management after bilateral sagittal split osteotomy.

Materials and methods

In a prospective clinical study, 31 adults were evaluated on the first postoperative day following bilateral sagittal split osteotomy using the standardized questionnaire of the Germany-wide project Quality Improvement in Postoperative Pain Management (QUIPS). It allows a standardized assessment of patients’ characteristics, pain parameters, outcome, and pain therapy process parameters.

Results

Pain management consisted mainly of premedication with midazolam, sufentanil, and metamizol intraoperatively; …

Objective

Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) may affect a patient’s quality of life, and one of the etiologies can be anterior disc displacement with reduction (ADDwR) and anterior disc displacement without reduction (ADDWoR). Interleukin 1 Receptor 1 (IL-1R1) is a membrane receptor that plays an important role on initiating immune and inflammatory response by binding the agonists ligands of IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate, through immunohistochemical analysis, the association of IL-1R1 with TMD.

Methods

Thirty-nine human disc samples were collected and composed three different groups: ADDwR (n = 19), ADDwoR ( …
